Foster Update

Hugo is doing great! He is so well behaved he has been invited back to his foster Granny’s house for a second time! He has been adapting well to being alone while his foster parents are at work and sleeping peacefully through the night! We are still working on his leash training because he gets very excited about critters!  He had his first nail trim last night and behaved wonderfully!  His favorite things right now are breakfast time and chasing his ball round the yard! Something fun about Hugo is that we took him to the lake and he jumped right in! We might have a swimming Greyhound on our hands!

That’s about all for now!

Foster Life

Hugo has been settling into home life with his foster family! He has enjoyed the company of his foster brother and watching critters in the yard! Hugo is full of energy and loves to run and play in the back yard! When he is inside he likes to stay busy playing with his toys and doing his treat puzzles. He is excellent at sharing with his foster brother and they love taking walks

A Greyt Catch

Hugo is back with his primary trainer this week and she said he has been extremely affectionate. She is happy to have her boy back, even if it’s only for another week. Training is still going well. He knows the basic commands and also some fun extras like say your prayers, shake, bang bang, show me love and catch.

The way to Hugo’s heart is food. He totally loves it! In fact Hugo’s heart was totally broken this week when his trainer only gave him praise instead of a treat for following thru with a command. LOL

Swap Week Fun With Hugo

Hugo’s swap week trainer said it was a goofy adventure working with Hugo. He is very treat motivated, but will also work for a toy. He did great with his commands. Hugo is so funny when he gets excited while playing with a toy. He bounces and high steps. It’s too cute!

Hugo is a huge people person and he hasn’t met a stranger yet. He does have a stubborn streak, but for the majority of the time he listened very well. Hugo has a great nose and can smell a crumb from a mile away and he will stare it down or try his best to get it. His swap week trainer said she really enjoyed working with Hugo and giving him lots of love.

Sniff-N-Seek

Hugo has had an awesome week!  He spent some time perfecting his sniff-n-seek routine.  He’s a bit food obsessed, so hiding treats for him to sniff out is the perfect pastime!  His inmate trainer says that Hugo will play with a toy for a few minutes running around like a mad fool, whipping the toy back and forth until he gets tired and ready to search for food or take a nap.

Hugo did a fantastic job at show and tail!  He performed every command without fail like the pro he is!

Where's The Treats?

Hugo has had a good week! He knows all his commands. When they go to the training room to work on them, Hugo starts running through all his commands waiting for a treat. He is VERY treat motivated. His trainer will change the order that they do the commands, but it makes no difference. Hugo will start going through them back to back! His trainer said he is so smart though and such a good boy!

Goofy Boy

Hugo’s inmate trainer says that Hugo is doing fantastic!  She says that he’s absolutely hilarious at times then other times he’ll stare at everyone like… really, what are y’all looking at?  When he’s running around playing with a toy he’ll jump, hop, then slam his front paws down on the ground for a dramatic effect for attention.  He does really well in his crate even when he’s let out a little behind everyone else’s schedule.  She says that when she changes out his bedding Hugo spends the whole time trying to get back inside his crate!  Goofy boy!

Hugo Is Hopping Right Along

Hugo has been such a good boy and done so well this week. He’s got all his basic commands down pat, so he and his trainer are embarking on a trip to the world of advance commands.  How exciting!  They just started “say your prayers” today and he got it 4 out of the 5 times.  Great job Hugo!  Some of the extras he already knows are:  Room, water, shake, leave it and give.

Hugo is fun to watch play on the dog field because he literally hops around like a big overgrown bunny! He will nudge his fellow greyhounds with his muzzle to try and get them to play with him. Hugo

Pick Me!

Hugo has had an amazing week!  He already knows how to: sit, down, and heel!  His inmate trainer says she plans to work on stay.  His inmate trainer says that when it’s time to eat, she doesn’t have to ask him twice!  He will lie down while she places his food bowl in front of him. His trainer says that she can’t wait to see what Hugo learns next and she is eager to learn more about his wonderful personality.

Handsome Hugo

Hugo has had an educational week. He’s learned to “stay”laying down in his kennel until he has his food. He is a super fast eater and seems so inhale his food, so his trainer adds water to his food to help slow him down.

Training is coming along. Hugo knows hurry, let’s go, kennel, release, wait, heel and here. “Sit” is a work in progress, but his trainer is confident he will have it figured out in no time.

Let The Good Times Roll

Hugo is a sweet, sweet boy! He is a little on the shy side and reserved around new people. He loves to be petted and loved on and when he’s had enough, he will just move away. He loves to play with toys and will run around whipping the toy back and forth, throwing it up in the air. When the toy hits the ground he pounces on it. It’s super cute!

Training is coming along. Hugo is working on “sit” and then it’s on to “down”. His trainer looks forward to the week’s ahead with Hugo. Let the good times roll!
