Swap Week

Paige’s alternate trainer says that Paige is a fun dog who loves to play with chew toys and listens really well.  He loves watching her run and play in the big yard.  She gets along great with other dogs and loves to check all the humans out.  When she’s tried she makes her way back to her kennel for a nice nap.  Paige’s alternate trainer says that her forever family will not be able to keep themselves from falling head over heels in love with this girl!

Learning New Things

Paige has had a great week!  She knows all of her basic commands and a few extras with verbal only cues and many with hand signal only cues!  She enjoys learning new things and has mastered: belly, spin, circle, and bounce! She loves spending time with humans and having her hair brushed!  If you have love to give she has time!

Paige’s inmate trainer says that working with her has been a joy!  He has no doubt that she’s going to be a big hit with her new family!

The Wonderful Dog

Hello people!  I’m Paige the wonderful dog! (Well that’s how I heard my inmate trainer say it and I can see where it’d be true.)

You know I use to race and now I’m preparing for retirement in a forever home.  I’m not sure what a forever home is, but it sounds nice.  A family, love, treats, and toys!

I enjoy learning new things.  As a matter of fact, I learned “belly” this week.  I roll over and show my belly for rubs.  Who knew!  I get treats AND a wonderful belly rub it’s a win win situation!  My inmate trainer and I play after training sessions.  It’s so much fun and makes me look forward to training.  I also enjoy attention, people, and meal times!  I like to lie on my bed and watch the world around me, well when I’m not napping.  Naps are an important part of retirement.

Sweet As Pie

Paige has had a great week!  She knows all of her basic commands with verbal and hand signal cues.  She’s a little slow responding to the “jump” command, but her inmate trainer believes that Paige will have it figured out very soon.  She’s doing great with her extra commands: spin, circle, and bounce!

Paige’s inmate trainer says that Paige is by far the easiest dog he’s trained.  She has not had any aggressive behavior towards anything.  She enjoys playing and loves her bed and relaxing.

Spinning Circles and Climbing Stairs

Paige has had a wonderful week!  She knows all of her basic commands although she still breaks the “stay” command before being released.  Her inmate trainer says that he knows without a doubt that she’ll have this perfected soon.  She responds to the basic commands with hand signal or verbal ques.

She loves toys and hasn’t shown any signs of aggression.  She enjoys learning to play and her inmate trainer has been teaching her to spin in circles.  She got to work on the stairs this week and has no problem climbing up and down.

Paige’s inmate trainer says that he’s having a great time training this sweet playful girl.  He believes that she’s going to make a wonderful companion for some lucky family.

Such a Smart Girl

Paige has had a wonderful week!  Her inmate trainer says that she is so smart and loves to learn.  She enjoys playing with toys and has shown no aggressive behavior toward anything.  She has learned to “sit” and will now sit and relax before mealtime.  When her trainer sits the food down she waits politely until given the command "kennel" to eat.  She eats in her kennel so the command “kennel” is given to release her to eat.

Paige knows all of her basic commands:  hurry, let’s go, kennel, release, wait, heel, sit, here, down, stay, and bed.  She can be a little slow following through at times, but she understands what she’s supposed to do.  Jump is still a work in progress as she’s a little unsure about jumping onto the shiny bench they use at the prison, but her inmate trainer believes she’ll gain confidence soon.

Gaining An Understanding

Paige has had a wonderful week! This week they worked on: kennel, bed, down and sit.  She’s a little slow responding to some, but she understands what she’s supposed to do and sometimes she’ll even respond quickly!  They work on the following commands daily:  hurry, let’s go, release, wait, heel, and here.  Her inmate trainer says that Paige is smart girl and will have all this new stuff figured out in no time.

Her inmate trainer has taught her to wait inside her kennel when the door is opened until her leash is on and she’s told “let’s go”.  Her inmate trainer believes that Paige will know all of her basics next week and it’ll be time to start perfecting and fine-tuning them all.  Her inmate trainer is very prod of all that Paige has learned and believes that she is going to make a great companion.

Settling In

Paige has had a great first few days at the prison spending time getting acclimated to her new surroundings and getting to know her inmate trainer.  He says she has a great time training and enjoys being around people.

This coming week they begin training the "sit" command as well as "down" and "bed".  He plans to not push her too much so that its fun for her to train and she continues to learn.

She is definitely treat motivated plus she loves toys.  She'll be a great student!  Stay tuned for more weekly updates!
