Lovable Lemmy

Lemmy has done great with his commands and he knows them ALL! Lemmy has been so great to work with and he has finally learned of the joy of playing with balls. He gets along so well with other dogs and people and he will truly be missed. But they know that when he goes, he is going to make a family so happy.

Lemmy loves all food and treats and is just the textbook definition of a loving dog. This guy is content to lie around and get loved on 24/7! So set phasers to Love Lemmy and let em rip!

Lemmy LOVES Everyone!

Lemmy has had an exceptional week!  It was swap week this week which means it was time for the inmate trainers to switch dogs.  They work on training commands to see how to dogs do with instructions from new trainers and to see if the dogs miss their primary trainers.  It also helps the inmates learn how to trouble shoot any problem areas, like delayed responses or a pup that gets distracted easily.

Lemmy’s alternate inmate trainer says that Lemmy knows all of his basic commands.  He says that Lemmy is a laid back relaxed kind of guy. He loves meeting new people and he’s not really sure what a stranger is!  He’s treat motivated and seems to enjoy all of his training sessions. He believes that Lemmy is going to make a wonderful companion for some lucky family.

Calm, Collected, and Cute as a Button!

Lemmy is doing so well with his commands! What an absolute champ. He has reached the point at which he knows them by hand signs alone! He loves to play with all kinds of toys that make noise. He will do ANYTHING for food or toys! He gets along very well with his four-legged classmates and with every person he has met. His trainer says he loves working with Lemmy because he is such a calm, loving dog and his presence is so soothing. So put on some Enya and bring this guy home!

Gentle Giant

At this point in the session, Lemmy has a grasp on all of his commands. Now it is just a matter of repetition and mastery! He is also working on all of his little behavioral commands in order to become the perfect companion. Lemmy is such a well-behaved dog. He is very gentle and usually calm, although he does enjoy his playtime!

So far his testing has gone very well and Lemmy is shaping up to make a wonderful pet and an incredible friend for some lucky duck!

All Around Terrific Hound

Lemmy is doing great with his commands and he learns them so fast! He loves food and toys and will do anything for either. Lemmy loves to be loved on and he is very, very sweet. He loves to play and he calms down easily when it’s time to chill. He gets along very well with other dogs and wants to play with them, and he is the same social, friendly boy around his human companions. His trainer loves working with him and absolutely adores this guy. Lemmy is a great dog to be around and his trainer knows he is going to make his forever family so happy, just like he’s done for him! Tune in next week to see what new cute antics Lemmy shows us!

Enjoying The Retirement Life

Lenny is doing great!  He enjoys playing with toys and calms easily.  He will do anything for food which makes training much easier!  His inmate trainer is proud to report that Lenny sat for him for the first time this week.  Sit is usually the hardest command for them to learn since they have all those muscles around their hindquarters.

Lenny does great with other people and dogs. He loves attention and humans are a great source to get a good ear rub.  His inmate trainer says that he has a lot of fun watching Lenny run and play in the back yard.  He seems to be enjoying retirement even the training part!

Jump in the Line

Week five has arrived! The halfway point in our journey is here and Lemmy is doing just fine. He had two show and tells where he got to show off his progress, and both were successes! He is getting better at relaxing around crowds, which was a real point of emphasis for his trainer. He didn't seem to care much for crowds when he first arrived, and his trainer wanted to make sure he could get used to it.

Now, Lemmy is working on down and jump - he knows the commands, but he just hesitates sometimes. He is a smart and motivated dog so it shouldn't be long before he has mastered everything else! Lemmy is such an easy-going guy and is a total joy to train.

Lemmy is the Man

An exciting week! Lemmy showed off his progress for Ms. Patti and did very well, not to mention enjoyed all the attention that he got!

But that was just one day of this past week - the rest of the week went great, too! He has made “sit” a priority to learn and it has been a work in progress. It’s the hardest one for greyhounds to master, and Lemmy was reluctant at first but has warmed up to the concept. By the end of the week, he was sitting sporadically but then he had a REALLY good day. His trainer believes he will be a pro in no time!

He continues to improve on his other commands and his behavior in general. Lemmy is very calm and sweet; in the kennel, he calms down and chills out very quickly. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t love play time! Lemmy is eager to explore his surroundings, is a joy to walk, and he is a great playmate.

Lemmy is going to knock your socks off!

Eager To Please

The first few weeks are all about figuring out Lemmy's likes, dislikes and preferences.  So far his trainer said Lemmy is eager to please and a quick learner.  He is a very calm greyhound that doesn't get too excited about anything.  He gets along great with people and the other greyhounds.

Lemmy loves food, toys and running.  The trifecta for greyhounds!  His training is going well. He already  knows "hurry", "let's go", "kennel", "release", "wait", "heel", "here" and "bed.   There's always room for improvement, but he's heading in the right direction to perfection.  His trainer said Lemmy is a real joy to work with and is looking forward to the weeks ahead.  See ya next week!
