Happy Dance

Dusty never ceases to amaze his trainer.  He did awesome on his testing of his basic commands and is ready to graduate.  His personality keeps coming out.  When he is excited and happy he does a happy dance.  Dusty is so funny and he can't wait to show his new family just how silly he can be.

Dusty's trainer is sad to see him go, but happy to know that he has a new forever family waiting for him after graduation.  Whoever adopts Dusty is in for a treat.  A new life with a new family sure sounds sweet!

Dusty = Good Boy

Dusty, Dusty, Dusty.  Such a sweet boy!  He is doing so much better and responding well to the changes over the last couple weeks.  Dusty is a curious Greyhound who likes to see what is going on outside of his kennel, so his trainer is keeping the kennel covers open on all sides.

He has improved a lot with taking commands from other senior trainers and also from others in the dorm.  He still gets a little distracted if there is too much going on around him, but with the right treat he will focus and follow through.

Dusty lets his trainer know when he needs to go outside.  He will give a sad little whimper and also stand in his kennel.  Such a good dog.

Dusty is such an awesome Greyhound.  He minds so well, and when motivated is very quick to learn.  His inmate trainer is truly going to miss him when he leaves for his forever home.

Good As Gold

Well, It won't be long until Dusty says goodbye to all the friends he has made at the prison, and everything he has learned along the way.  Dusty is a sweet, loving boy with a shy side, but once  he trusts you and forms a bond, you are as good as gold.

He can't wait to show his new forever family all the things he has learned about being a good house companion.  He knows all of his commands, but like a child, he can be easily distracted and slow to respond.  His inmate trainer is working to try and overcome this with Dusty. It is a work in progress.

Dusty can't wait to meet his loving family.  He is getting his Christmas gift early...a forever home.

Mr. Nosey

Dusty is a sweet boy with a loving demeanor.  His inmate trainer says that Dusty can get distracted easily.  If the dorm is quiet he’s fully focused and goes through all of his commands.  If people are moving around Dusty has to know what’s going on.

As far as playing goes, he loves to run and even plays chase with his inmate trainer from time to time!  Dusty is not a fan of the shiny floors and is cautious about walking on them.  His inmate trainer says that he hopes that Dusty’s new family showers him with love.

Happy Birthday!

Dusty recently celebrated his second birthday!  He had some chicken for dinner mixed with kibble, followed by a kibble peanut butter cake.  He enjoyed every bite!

Dusty has turned into quite the morning pooch. He loves mornings.  He gets very excited, but is easy to calm.   He knows when his morning bathroom break and morning breakfast is.  If it is a bit late he does this very quiet whine.  He just wants to make sure you haven't forgotten about him.

Dusty sometimes acts like a toddler.  If he won't do a command and you keep trying, he will pout and won't even take a treat.  Like a toddler, if you make him smile, he's good to go. What his inmate trainer means by that is, he will take Dusty's tail and make it a game.  Dusty will get very playful and he's back to doing his commands.  It is very comical.

Dusty is a great dog and is doing very will in all areas of training.  He is still not a fan of the shiny floors, but will walk on them with a little encouragement.

Dusty's inmate trainer recently found out that Dusty has been adopted.  He said it is a good feeling finding out they have a forever home.  His inmate trainer would like to thank you for picking a terrific greyhound.  You will just love him!

Practice Makes Perfect

Dusty is still doing really well on his commands.  His trainers are working on his response time.  Sometimes he is really quick and other times his trainer thinks he has selective hearing.  Once he figures out his inmate trainer won't budge, he will do the command easily.

Dusty is coming out of his shell more and more as the weeks go by.  He loves to be outside, running and playing.  He bounces, leaps and runs at you just to dart away at the last second.  Inside, Dusty will play a little bit with you.  He will spin, jump and scoot at you like a bunny.  He will surely bring a smile to your face with his fast moves.

Practice makes perfect, and that's the case with Dusty and the "jump" command.  This calm and loving boy will be ready for his car ride to his forever home. He's looking forward to it!

Investigating and Exploring

Dusty is coming out of his shell!  He can still be shy at times, but he loves to wonder around and investigate things.  He’s recently starting playing a little.  His inmate trainer says that Dusty will play with toys but only for a short time.  He’d rather play with his human trainer spinning and running circles around him!

Dusty loves to run and play in the big yard.  He is mostly investigating things on his own, but will run and play with the big pack.  His inmate trainer says that training has become a little bit easier as Dusty has finally realized what a treat reward is; payment for a job well done!  Dusty has been doing fantastic with his commands and already has most all of the basics down!  Stay is a work in progress, but he’s making great improvement.

Dusty loves to be petted and rubbed on.  He’ll lean against you for attention and love. His inmate trainer says that Dusty is a calm and gentle soul who is going to make some lucky family very happy!

More Relaxed and Confident

Going into week three, Dusty is progressing nicely.  He's still a bit shy at times, but is getting much better every week.  He is also getting better with the shiny floors, and will venture out on his own without getting scared.

When Dusty gets out on the big yard and is able to run and play, he is an entirely different dog.  He is confident and a joy to watch.  He will run for a bit and look to see where his inmate trainer is and run to him.

Dusty started playing with stuffed toys this week.  He's definitely coming out of his shell.  He is so calm and relaxed at times, well, most of the time.   He also enjoys just laying in his kennel and sleeping.  His trainer hardly shuts the door anymore.  Dusty knows where his home is and he likes it for sure.

This week Dusty's trainers introduced him to stairs.  The first time he needed a little work, but after that he was a natural.  No problems with stairs for Dusty.  Yay!

Dusty is also an affectionate greyhound.  He will come up to his trainer and lean his head or his whole body on him wanting to be loved on.  Dusty is a great dog with a great personality, but a calm one.  Dusty is a sweetheart and will easily steal your heart in no time!

Leaps and Bounds

Dusty has come leaps and bounds since the first time he walked through the prison gates.  He was very unsure of his environment and loved his kennel and didn't want to come out for anything.  His inmate trainer had to pick him up out of there for the first three days.  He was also very cautious on the concrete floors.  Leaps and bounds later, Dusty enjoys the casual strolls around the dorm.  Dusty now comes out of his kennel easily and on command.

Dusty is very attentive about his surroundings and his ears are always held straight up on his head, like radar...always listening and looking.  He doesn't want to miss anything.

Dusty was introduced to a small puppy this week and did really well with it.  He had his tail wagging the whole time.

Dusty is a good eater.  He's also a sweet, laid back pup.  He likes to run on the big yard and will look for his inmate trainer and run back to him when he's done.  Dusty loves to be loved on and will a great pet for some lucky family.  His inmate trainer said Dusty is already his favorite and hopes he will be yours too.

Easy Going Greyhound

PG Cedar is now being called Dusty, and he has picked up his new name pretty easily.   Dusty is a sweet, very submissive dog.  He doesn't mind getting his teeth brushed, getting a bath or even his medical checks.  He's a pretty easy-going guy.

Dusty is pretty timid of the shiny and hard floors, but still walks on them with ease.  He has taken to his kennel, in fact, sometimes he doesn't want to come out.  He has taken the "kennel" command to the limit.

Have you seen the ears on this boy?  When they stick straight up he looks like a German Shepherd with his dark muzzle.

Dusty is a sweet boy and his inmate trainer has no doubt that he will come out of his shell and show everyone what an amazing dog he is.
