She's Back!

When Haley first stepped into our house, it was obvious she was fearless of people, places and things. She greeted us with lots of tail wags and seemed to quickly approve of her new surroundings. If she had a suitcase, I have no doubt she would have unpacked it.

She has proven to be a wonderful house guest. We have four other Greyhounds and Haley loves them all. She is polite, gracious, and all around well mannered. Basically she is the Emily Post of Greyhounds.

Last Friday we fully amputated a partially amputated toe that was bothering her. The surgery was a complete success. She is already putting weight on it and even spins around like a tornado when excited with zero issues. The only downfall is she is down one toe which means her ability to do math just dropped by one digit.

Haley is a major league dog in a minor league world. She is ready to and looks forward to finding her forever home. So please open your heart and home to her so she can unpack her suite case for good. You will not be disappointed!

I'm adopted!?

Haley’s inmate trainer says that Haley has opened up and started showing her personality.  He explains that it is not unusual for some of the hounds to take a little longer to become comfortable with their surroundings.

He says it makes him very happy to see her more playful and active these days.  She’s engaging and playing with him more.  She’s decided that toys are fun and has a blast with them.

He’s going to miss this sweet girl when she leaves and wishes both Haley and her new family the best.

Scheming for a Belly Rub

Hello and welcome to Week 9! This is swap week, where a different trainer gets a week with a new dog to see how they react spending time with and getting commands from a different person. This week, Haley’s swap week team was in for a treat – she is such an amazing dog! She likes to go on walks in the big yard and lay around on the bed, which is cute because she always rolls over on her back and puts her belly up to the sky for you to rub and scratch. She is so cute when she takes her blanket and hides under it, and peeking out to look at you. She just loves attention and affection, and will absolutely steal your heart within seconds.

Haley did wonderfully at show and tell with no problems, and she is ready for her forever home! Make sure you have some chew bones for her – she goes HAM on those! Her swap week trainer had a great week with her and she will be missed. Just one week until she steals YOUR hearts!

Loving You Is Easy To Do

Haley has done quite well!  She has mastered all of her commands and adjusted very well to her environment.  She walks well on a leash and enjoys following her inmate trainer wherever he goes.  She loves excursions onto the big yard and seems to really enjoy the outdoors.

Her inmate trainer says that she enjoys playing almost as much as food!  She’s made many friends and her sweet laid-back disposition is hard to resist. He believes that she’ll quickly steal the hearts of her new forever family.  She’s an amazing girl and loving her is easy to do!

Silly Girl

Is it time to eat yet? I believe this is on Haley’s mind all day. She get’s so excited when it’s time to eat. About 15 minutes before it’s time to eat, she’s preparing herself. She starts stretching, yawning and giving her trainer “the look”. She goes ecstatic when she sees the food bowl, spinning in circles and her tail wagging a warp speed. Haley quivers in anticipation as her trainer makes her “sit and “stay” until he releases her to eat. Nothing pleases Haley more than a bowl full of food. You can’t help but smile at her silly antics.

Commands are no problem for this girl. She knows all of them with verbal cues and hand signals. “Shake” was also added to her list of commands. The clock is ticking down to graduation day and Haley is ready to meet her forever family!

Shake. Shake. Shake Señora

Ok, Haley fans! I’m back to give you an update on my retirement. I am fabulous!! Things couldn’t be better. My humans take great care of me; Complimentary meals, walks on the lawn, endless petting, brushing, pedicures and tons of love.

I have been taking self improvement classes and I’m doing quite well. I get showered with lots praise and treats. I have even learned a few extra commands because I am so smart. When I go to my forever home I’ll be mingling with all the humans because I’ve learned to “shake” just like them. It’s pretty impressive, if I do say so myself. I can’t wait to meet my new family. I’m on the home stretch now.

Peanut Butter Lover

We are at the half way point and Haley has nearly mastered all of her basic commands. She’s such a joy to train and be around. She is a very laid back dog and is content to relax and chill on a bed by her human. She really enjoys love and affection and never tires of petting. As long as you don’t. LOL Of course, the way to heart too is food. She is easily motivated with a treat, especially peanut butter. If nothing else works, peanut butter will. Who doesn't love peanut butter?

Haley is so sweet and loving. She will quickly win your heart, just like she has her trainer’s hearts.

Brains and Beauty

This week, Haley’s trainer introduced her to the last few commands: jump and stairs! She did fine with both. She is a little resistant to new things, but it doesn’t take her long to adapt. Jump took a few days to get the hang of it, and she’s still working diligently on it.

Stair training will take a few more sessions, but she is over her fear of them and going up and down stairs pretty well! Everything else is easy for her; she has mastered most of the commands already.

And Haley isn’t just a smart girl, she’s also very sweet - so lovable and eager to please! She loves to explore her surroundings, but is content to chill out on a bed as well. Her temperament and energy are perfect for any family.

Ear Scratches Please

Hello to everyone! (That includes my fans and my new family). This retirement gig is pretty awesome. Soft beds galore, good food and endless amounts of treats and petting!! I have three humans that wait on me hand (paw) and foot. They only ask for a few requests in return. I hear I am doing pretty good at these requests (commands). Petting and ear scratches are gratuitous!

I’m getting plenty of schooling and most importantly, R & R, so I’ll be ready to meet my new forever family. That sounds sooooo nice. I can’t wait. But until then, I think I’ll just curl up and take a nap.

xoxo

Sweet Baby Haley

Haley has settled into her new place and she has really taken to her retirement. Haley loves to just lounge about! It's truly her favorite activity. She's very laid-back and also very affectionate, just saying her name is rewarded with a tail wag. She'll sit there for petting for as long as you will keep at it. Her trainer thinks that he could not have gotten a more loving dog. Her training is going very well and she catches on quickly. She is easily motivated and very eager to please. She'll master all of her commands soon enough!

It's a pleasure to meet you.

Haley has already won her trainer over! She is such a happy and loving dog. Her energy is so contagious you can’t help but love her! Haley’s coloring is unusual and her trainer said he has not seen a greyhound quite like her since entering the program.

Haley has adapted well to her new environment. It took her no time to relax and get comfortable. She is very friendly and loves the other dogs and all the people. She wants to meet everyone to say hello. She seems to be very motivated by treats and/or affection and should be easy to train. Her trainer is looking forward to this session with Haley. It’s going to be such a pleasure. See you next week!
