Pet Me!

Rufus is a great dog! He loves for you to sit with him and always enjoys a good scratching on the neck and behind the ears. For fun his trainer likes to give him a piece of ice, and watch him chase it around the room.

Rufus is very energetic and playful, but also has a lazy side. He brings so much laughter and joy to his trainers’ days.

Over the past 9 weeks, Rufus has learned what it is like to be a pet instead of a professional racer. He can still be a little hesitant about new things, but he responds really well to calm introductions. His trainer has taken time to introduce him to blow dryers and fans, and he is starting to get used to the sounds that they make. Anytime he is unsure of something he looks to his trainer for guidance and reassurance.

Super Sweet

Rufus is doing great! His trainer is very proud of his progress. He responds very well to his commands and when asked to do a command by another person, he shows them how smart he is

Rufus is warming up to the strange noises and objects around him. He enjoys his bed by the wall so he can roll over into the roaching position. He is a light sleeper for sure, but after the morning or afternoon playtime, he crashes hard.

Rufus does well playing with the other dogs and enjoys a good chase or throwing around a ball. He is very playful and loves to be outside. When it is time to go out he is full of energy. Inside he is laid back and chill.

Rufus keeps a big smile on his face and has this amazing, sweet personality that wins over everyone he meets.

Amazing Dog

What an amazing dog, friend and companion Rufus is.  He loves to be spoiled and loved on.  Rufus enjoys going outside playing with a ball and the other dogs.  He loves to perform for both treats and toys.  He
gets very excited with new toys, so his new family will have to be very careful when taking him shopping!  Rufus is fun to watch when he is playing.  He throws his toy, jumps around and has a big smile on his face.

Rufus is a quick learner and he is eager to perform.  He has most of his basic commands mastered but still has a few to work on.  He is not much of a runner or talker unless he is chasing and playing with the other dogs.  His trainer thinks it is cute when Rufus meets someone new because he will whimper or howl/talk because he is excited.  He will also do the same for a Kong filled with peanut butter.

His trainer feels Rufus will make a good therapy dog because he loves to meet and greet people and allow the ladies to pet him and give him commands.

A Perfect Gentleman

Rufus has progressed really well this past week. His leash-walking skills have improved tremendously, and while he still loves to go outside he makes it all the way there without pulling one bit. He has learned how to let his trainer know he needs to go outside by standing by the door and whining quietly, just enough to communicate what he needs.

Rufus loves to play with any toys he can find lying around, especially new ones that have just been introduced to him. He will pick up a toy and then run with it over to his kennel or bed so he can entertain himself. He also goes crazy for peanut butter; his eyes get as big as saucers just from seeing the jar from across the room. Rufus is always smiling, and loves to go around greeting everyone in the room.

All in all Rufus is an awesome and very loving dog. He is so smart, and catches on incredibly quickly when you have what motivates him (usually kibble, treats, and toys).

Social Butterfly

Over this last week Rufus has finally responded to the “Sit” command. He sometimes takes his time, but will follow through.  His trainer said he is so cute when he tries to talk and she often wonders what he is saying.  When his trainer puts on her tennis shoes, Rufus knows it’s time to go outside, he really enjoys going outside to run and play.  Rufus is very sociable and loves to meet new people.  He will go up to just about anyone for some ear scratches and petting.

He is very funny when he sleeps because he crawls/slides across the floor.  He will start at one end of the room and end halfway across it. He is very entertaining to watch.

They have been practicing “Wait” a lot with Rufus and for the most part he does really well with both “Wait” and “Stay.”  He responds to “Here” good also.  Rufus keeps his trainer busy but his smile always brings a smile to his trainer’s face.

Loves New Toys

What a smart, loving and joyful dog Rufus is.  He is doing well adapting to his new environment.  Rufus enjoys being outdoors for sure and plays well with the other dogs.

His trainer said he is doing well and catching on quickly with his basic commands.  He does tend to get distracted easily.  Rufus’ trainer is working with him on his commands in different areas of the dorm and different times of the day.

He is not too keen on all of the loud noises at the prison. He likes his quiet time.  Rufus loves to go in the training room to play with all of the different toys.  Seeing a new/different toy excites him very much. He doesn’t have a favorite one. Any toy will do.

A True Joy

Over the weeks Rufus has been a bouncing joy: He is always smiling and greeting everyone. Rufus for the most part listens really well. He enjoys playing with toys and doesn’t mind playing alone. He calms easily and then falls asleep.

His training is going really well, although he can be slow to respond. Rufus will eventually do what you ask, as long as you don’t give in or give up. Patience is the key. His kennel training is going better but it is his not his favorite place to go. He likes to be out with everyone.

His trainer is excited for the new week and new commands to work on. He is very smart and learns quickly.

Full Of life

Rufus is a pup full of love and life! His trainer said he is always smiling and wagging his tail. He is very sociable and loving too.

Rufus is still always in a hurry to get somewhere. He is being taught by his trainer to Wait and Release from his kennel instead of bolting out of it. He is doing quite well with those two commands. “Kennel” is a work in progress.

Rufus is doing pretty good with his commands. He does become distracted easily with any noise or new smell, but he eventually responds to his trainer and the command. Rufus is food and treat motivated so that does help with his training. He loves to play with toys and jump around.

He is quite the clown and keeps his trainer laughing and on her toes. Rufus is full of life for sure!

Bundle Of Joy

His trainer is calling him Rufus!  He is a stunning and playful dog.  Rufus has been bouncing around and wagging his tail from the moment he came off of the truck.  He is a very sweet ,loving boy and quite the social butterfly. If he sees another dog getting attention, he will weasel his way in to get some of the loving.

His trainer said that Rufus is very smart and learns quick.  He is always in a hurry but they are working on that.  He has learned Bed quickly, the other commands he seems to understand but refuses to do them at this time.  He is kibble and treat motivated, so training should be a breeze with this boy.

Rufus has adjusted well to his new environment and surroundings and enjoys playing with toys.  His trainer is very excited to spend the next 10 weeks with him growing a bond and learning together.
