Reindeer Ready

AJ’s inmate trainer says that she couldn’t more proud of this sweet boy!  He’s doing great! His “stay” is showing great improvement.  His trainer says that she can now take 6 steps away from AJ and he stays really well!

AJ continues to act like a teenager when it comes to early mornings.  His inmate trainer says that she literally has to climb in the kennel to give him a belly rub before he’ll agree to come out and start the day.  She says you can’t help but laugh at his easy going morning routine.  Lately he’s been pushing his food to the left side of his bowl.  When he’s finished with the food on the left he’ll use his nose to push food from the right side over to left so it’s just in the perfect position for consumption.  His inmate trainer says it’s amusingly mind boggling.

His inmate trainer says that she absolutely loves this sweet boy. He makes her smile even if it’s been a bad day. She’s thankful for this time with him and just knows he’s going to be a big hit with his forever family when the time comes!

Non-Stop Laughs With AJ

AJ had an eventful week. He helped cook Christmas dinner…somewhat. He was more like the clean up crew. AJ was a social butterfly when new people came around this week. He loves all the attention and meeting new people.

AJ is not a morning pup. Wake-ups take at least 5 - 6 minutes to coax him out of his kennel in the morning. That includes belly rubs. Sometimes you have to act like something exciting is going on, that he’s missing out on, so he comes running. His trainer said it is hilarious and an awesome way to start any day. She said it is non stop laughs with AJ. She knows when he goes to his forever home, the party will never stop. He is just amazing.

Soccer Star

Guess who is “staying” for short distances these days?  AJ!!  He’s doing so much better at holding the “stay” position as his inmate walks away.  His inmate trainer says that they plan to continue working on distance and duration.

AJ has discovered the joyous fun of a soccer ball! His inmate trainer says she can’t help but laugh at his antics.  He’ll chase the ball, walk away, then chase it again with much glee.  She says that every day is something new with AJ.  He keeps her laughing and she’s enjoying every minute with this sweet boy.

AJ Is Sure To Wow You

A.J. has found a joy in playing with a soccer ball. It’s so cute to watch him try and pick it up with his adorable overbite. He continues to grow rapidly everyday. He looks like a full grown greyhound. Although he still has the puppy energy and attitude.

A.J. still keeps progressing with his commands and extras. He is a smart boy and is learning them in Spanish. He’s sure to Wow you. Better brush up on your Spanish. Every day more of his greyhound quirks show and the laughs just keep coming.

Star At The Dorm

AJ’s inmate trainer says that AJ is a star at the dorm!  He’s doing really well with all of his commands and knows many of them in both English and Spanish!  How awesome is that!  Sometimes AJ can get so focused on the treat reward he falters a bit in his command response.  I guess you have to get fixated on something food is a good option!  If he gets restless in his kennel his inmate trainer gives him a stuffed kong treat to occupy him for a while. AJ’s inmate trainer says she’s so very proud of this amazing boy!

Santa Please Bring Me Tennis Balls For Christmas

AJ is making leaps and bounds this week.  His trainers have been working hard on “stay” and “heel”.  He is doing so much better on both.  AJ is learning is commands in Spanish.  Another bilingual puppy!  He is a smart boy and is picking it up rather quickly.

AJ wrote a letter to santa this week, asking for tennis balls.  He’s been such a good pup.  I’m sure Santa won’t forget to deliver some presents for the greyhound puppies.  They are all on the “nice” list.

Spinning In Circles Of Happiness

AJ’s inmate trainer says that AJ has been such a blessing!  AJ’s a happy guy who is the life of the party.  He’s become fond of a member of the maintenance staff. Whenever the staff member comes around, AJ turns into a Tasmanian devil, spinning in circles of happiness to the point of falling over!  It’s all very comical.

On colder days he likes to stand in front of the wall dryer.  His ears and lips will flap around in the warm air.  It’s quite the hysterical sight.  Never a dull moment with this sweet boy!  He’s grown so much since arriving.  He’s gone from a cute puppy to a handsome boy!

Squeaky Pete The Penguin

AJ is doing amazing. The majority of his basic commands are polished and shined. He is growing like a week and is looking more like an adult greyhound than a puppy. AJ is still not a morning puppy. He takes his time waking up in the morning.

AJ has fallen in love with Pete the Penguin, his new squeaky toy. Pete will get AJ running around like a wild child and moving in crazy ways. His trainer said it’s absolutely priceless to watch and you can’t help but laugh at him.

Showing Off His Skills

AJ has been showing off his skills this week to the new inmate trainer who joined the training team.  He’s been following both hand signal and verbal cues even when they’re mixed up or requested randomly.  He’s still doing good with tempering his rough play with his littermates.  He doesn’t mind quick power naps, then he’s up and ready for more play time or training.  His inmate trainer says that she’s having a great time with this adorable pup!

Not A Morning Pup

AJ has grown so much in such a short amount of time!  If he needs to go potty he’ll let you know by being vocal.  He’s proving to not be a morning pup and prefers to take his time in the mornings.  Now that the weather is cooling off some, he runs outside and right back in when he’s finished with business.  He gave his inmate trainer the best birthday gift ever this weekend… a signed paw print tee shirt!

Mini Ambassador

AJ is chugging right along and getting better with the daily routine. He goes to bed around 7:30pm. He likes his kennel completely blacked out. He will normally sleep until around 6 to 7 am with the occasional need to potty around 1 am.

AJ doesn’t seem to really care to lay on the big beds, he tends to like his kennel for napping. AJ is doing good with his commands. He was introduced to “heel” this week. He’s not big on the idea, but his trainer will continue to work on it.

AJ has become a mini ambassador. A couple people are scared of dogs. AJ has been coming around them and one actually gave him a quick pet the other day. Pet therapy is the best.

Bright Personality

AJ’s inmate trainer says that AJ’s personality shines brighter than a diamond!  She believes he’s going to bring a lot of joy to his new family as you can’t help but feel happy when you’re around him! He’s growing so much!  He sometimes forgets his size and needs a little reminding to play easy with his litter mates.  He takes short naps so that he doesn’t miss any fun stuff.  His training is going well and is responding to many commands with hand signal and verbal cues.  His inmate trainer says that she’s going to continue working with him to brush up on his response times, but is very proud of his progress.

True Delight

AJ’s inmate trainer said that she was laying on the floor on her stomach when AJ decided to climb on her back and fall asleep… even rolling off onto the floor!  She says that AJ is a true delight.  He’s growing super fast and time’s moving by so quickly.  He loves to investigate everything and doesn’t mind going through his commands.  He prefers to have his kennel blacked out at bedtime and likes to take his time getting up in the mornings.  She says she normally opens AJ’s kennel and goes about her business. He’ll eventually make his way out, ready to start the day.

Big Bundle Of Joy

AJ continues to be the life of the party. His energy is endless, but will do nap time. AJ is still working on his commands. He is doing good, but will get excited and lose focus. AJ thinks he should get a treat just for being cute. Can’t blame him for trying.

Potty training is going good. He will usually whine and not stop until you take him out. That’s his cue. AJ loves attention and his trainer said he’s a big bundle of joy.

Trucking Right Along

AJ is all boy!  He can play a little rough with his greyhound buddies so his inmate trainer is working to help him understand that he can still go all in without being quite so ruff and tumble.  He takes re-directions really well and is doing great with his basic commands.  He loves treats so that makes training a little easier.  He’s eager to learn, but has puppy brain from time to time.  His inmate trainer says you can practically see the distractions kick in, so they take a break to keep training fun.  She says you can’t help but laugh at his antics.

He did great with getting his nails trimmed but wasn’t so sure about all that teeth brushing business.  To chew or not to chew was the question.  It was too weird having this brush thing all in his mouth for no reason at all.  Crazy humans.

Energetic Personality

AJ has been in the training program for a week already!  His energetic personality makes everyone around him smile.  He’s the first to start running laps and the last one to stop.  He’s curious about everything and takes great pride in his investigative skills.  He loves comfy beds and he’s learning to enjoy his kennel.  His inmate trainer says that AJ is doing really well with leash walking and potty training.  She believes the AJ is a dorm favorite and he loves everyone!  He has a little overbite that makes him pretty irresistible   His inmate trainer says that she can’t wait to see what the upcoming weeks hold with this sweet little guy!
