Your Forever Friend

This has been an amazing ten week journey. Wyatt’s trainer can’t believer the changes he has gone through. He started at Second Chance Greyhounds Academy fresh from the racetrack, in a new place and afraid of his own shadow. Now he is one of the most outgoing greyhounds in the group.

Making friends with Wyatt is easy.  Scratch his hips, behind his ears or give him a piece of kibble and you’ve made a friend for life.  He will follow you everywhere.  Wyatt’s trainer hopes he brings you as much joy into your lives as he has into theirs.

Playful Hunk

This week was swap week and one lucky trainer got to spend time with handsome Wyatt! It was an absolute blast. They had a ton of fun because Wyatt is just the most playful guy ever. He loves to be loved on, and you will have a great time loving on this hunk! He loves to run and has shown no aggression or problem behavior whatsoever while getting used to a new trainer for the week. His swap week team went through all the commands with him, and then afterward they got out the toys and had a blast!

Wyatt behaves so well and will fit right in with you and your family. In just one week you’ll get to add this beautiful greyhound to your family! Until next time, thanks for reading – and prepare your heart!

Ear Scratches For Wyatt

We’re in the home stretch now.  Swap week is coming up, so Wyatt will spend some time with another training team to see how he does with receiving commands from an alternate inmate training team.

Wyatt has come a long way from his first week here.  He’s more open and relaxed these days.  His inmate trainer says that Wyatt has become his favorite dog  out of all the ones he’s trained.  He says that Wyatt is a very smart guy who picks up on commands easily. He loves to be scratched behind the ears.

Wyatt likes toys but not overly so.  He loves to play fetch and will usually drop the ball or toy at your feet for a treat. Wyatt’s inmate trainer says that spending time with Wyatt is the best part of his day.

Take Me To The Beach

Oh my goodness. Where has the time gone? It’s almost time for Wyatt to go to his forever home. Wyatt did fantastic during show and tell. He scored all 10’s. Not only is he an outstanding athlete, but he has the brain power to back it up.

Wyatt made a new discovery on the recreational yard….SAND!! it takes him back to his racing days. Every morning you can find him running through the sand with his tail wagging and his eyes shining. Can you say beach vacation?

Fast Friends

Hello there human world! It’s Wyatt brining you the what’s hot news!  First y’all should know I was a little unsure about this new place in the beginning, but can you blame a guy?  It’s pretty different from anything I’ve ever experienced.  It’s noisy with shiny floors, but it has treats and humans who know how to dish ‘em out!

I’m having more fun now, especially since I’ve gotten this training thing figured out.  :Humans are like two legged treat dispensers!  Once I figured out their language and realized they want me to do some easy stuff like “down,” “bed,” etc.  I’m eatin’ like a king!  Personally, I don’t really see what the big deal is but, hey, they like it so I’m game; seems like a fair trade.

I like to run in the big yard and hang with my greyhound buddies.  Scratching behind my ears is a sure fired way for us to become friends by the way.  Welp, I’ll chat at y’all later

Treats = Undivided Attention

Wyatt’s inmate trainer says that it’s hard to believe that it’s week 5 already.  It seems like it was only yesterday when Wyatt was the new kid on the block and now half the session is already over.

Wyatt continues to make progress executing his commands.  He says he’s a delight to train, as Wyatt considers it a game instead of work. Wyatt is enthusiastic during training and will attempt anything for treats or affection.  If you scratch behind his ears or the sides of his hips you’ll have a friend for life!  A piece or two of kibble will also get you his undivided attention.

Practice makes perfect

Another good week for Wyatt and we wouldn’t expect any less from this cutie!  Stair training went well.  By the third time up, he had it all figured out.  Coming back down was more of a challenge, but his trainer feels he will have no problems going up and down the stairs next time they practice.

This past weekend Wyatt got to play fetch on the small yard.  His favorite thing is a woven toy that’s a cross between a tiger and octopus. He’s getting pretty good at fetch and will bring the toy back to the same spot every time.  It’s not the spot where his trainer is, but they are working on that. LOL

Time is flying by and graduation will be here in no time.  I’m sure you are anxious to meet Wyatt and you won’t be disappointed when you do.    He is working very hard to be the best pup you could ask for.  See ya next week!

Lovable Pup

Wyatt has progressed nicely on all his commands this week. He’s sitting on his own and doing his “stays” perfectly. His trainer is impressed at how far he has come in such a short period of time. He’s still just the sweetest and most lovable pup! There’s not a mean bone in his body. He gets along with the other greyhounds and love everyone.

Wyatt likes to play with toys, but doesn’t mind giving them up when his trainer reaches for them. He likes regular squeaky toys, but loves to chew on his “Y” Nyla bone. His trainer can’t get over how amazing and graceful Wyatt is all the time. He’s a handsome boy and really stands out in a crowd. Wyatt’s got the “WOW” factor.

Greyt Company

Wyatt is really starting to open up and his personality is starting to shine through. When he’s relaxed and comfortable, Wyatt is playful, curious and acts like a big kid. There are still times in new or unfamiliar situations when he gets timid, but they are getting fewer and far between as he gets used to everything. He’s a wonderful dog at heart and his trainer is absolutely enjoying Wyatt’s company.

Wyatt loves to be scratched behind his ears and on his hindquarters. Wyatt loves to say “hello” to all his greyhound buddies, by sniffing in places we humans find rather intrusive, but hey, that’s how dogs greet and say hi. All the humans remark about how beautiful he is and they can’t resist petting and rubbing on his soft fluffy fur.

Wyatt is coming along nicely with his commands and his trainer said he is smart and treat motivated, so this training session should be smooth sailing. See you next week.

Curious Cutie

Second Chance is pleased to welcome their new friend Wyatt to the program. Mad Dog was his race name, but his trainer doesn't see that at all. He's the most gentle, sweetest dog of the bunch. So far he loves to visit all the other dogs, always curious about what's going on, and wants to sniff them and say hello. He gets a little excited and over anxious when walking around, which is normal when they first get here. I mean, they're just not used to walking a certain way and not going wherever they want to go whenever they want to go there! Plus, what are these shiny floors?! He's already doing better than expected just 3 days in.

By the way, Wyatt’s fur is so soft. His trainer loves petting his coat, it’s so nice and fluffy. He loves to have his ears scratched and he loves getting brushed. So far, his trainer thinks that he's going to do very well because he's young and eager to learn. He's just been working on leash walking and doing the name game, calling him by his new name and giving him a treat when he responds so he associates positive things when he hears his name. We're off to a good start.
