Lea has come a long way in her ten weeks of training at Jenkins. She passed her final testing and is ready for graduation!. She is still a little nervous around loud noises and big crowds. Prison is a very noisy place and Lea should do much better in her forever home. All she needs is a lot of love and patience. I'm sure her forever family is ready to give her all that and more. Well, this week was swap week and Lea got to work with a new trainer. He reported that she she shows no sign of separation anxiety, she knows all her commands, and she loves to play with squeaky toys. She is happiest when running with the other dogs and the big yard, prancing around and wagging her tail. She is very cautious when there are lots of people around and when there are loud noises. But as soon as she gets used to it, that disappears. Lea will make a great addition to anyone's home. She loves to be petted and loved on once she gets to know you.
Lea is coming along with her training very well and getting more and more outgoing with her playing. She enjoys the stuffed animals a lot. Her trainer continues to let her lay on the daybed to build her confidence. If you're looking for a good dog that loves to get loved on and give it right back, Lea says pick me, and maybe a brother or sister too!
Well, Lea's confidence grows each week. She's exploring more around the dorm and she's laying on a daybed by her kennel playing with other dogs today. She still enjoys playing with Atlas. She's starting to run a little on the big yard back and forth along the fence. Lea is just waiting to go home with her forever family!
Lea is getting better every week with being around people. She is playing more and more with the toys and she really likes playing with her classmate Atlas as well as some of the other dogs. Lea has been spending more time on the bed in the day room around people. She is really a sweet dog looking for a good home!
Lea showed some excitement of the big yard this week. She spotted a bird and decided to try and catch it. She didn't, but who knew she was super fast! This was the first time she actually ran and not jogged on the big yard. She's showing more of her personality every day.
Lea is a very gentle dog, even at feeding time. Her trainer can put his hand in her food dish and she shows no aggression at all. She's a super sweet girl with lots of love to give. Pick Lea.
Another week with Lea and she is doing better and better every day. As the weeks go on, she's starting to get her commands fine tuned and is doing them in the small training room. She will do them sometimes in the day room, and she's starting to play with toys a little bit. She still not big on the whole running thing and just kind of jogs around for a few minutes. Her trainer is hoping the more comfortable she gets, the more she'll want to run around and play. She's so sweet and has such a bright, happy face.
Lea is a true retired race her. She does not enjoy running and so far she does like walking. She is a super sweet girl, a little shy, but she's coming along with her commands very well. This week they have been working on sit, stay, here, jump and stairs. She did very well with all of these so tune in next week to hear more about the life of Lea!
It's been slow and steady this week with Lea. Her trainer continues to work on her name, heel, wait, kennel, release and bed. She is not very treat or toy motivated right now, but hopefully that will change.

Lea is very strong for such a small dog, but she is really gentle. This week, they have been working on building a bond with each other and on the heel command, as well as wait and her name. More to come from the Life of Lea next week!
