Graduation is Near!

This is the final week with Lilly Bell!  It has been a very interesting time with her, her inmate trainer states.  Lilly is such an intelligent Greyhound that she picked up her 12 basic commands in three weeks.  They have spent the rest of the time perfecting those commands.

Lilly is just one of those dogs that really gets your attention.  Because of her desire to please, she is very willing to learn.  All that she wants in return is a few treats and lots of love!  Now, that's what he calls a win-win situation!

Lilly has bee a true joy to work with.  She will be sorely missed but he knows she is going to a great home.  This Greyhound truly does get a Second Chance!

What A Wonderful Girl

Lilly did great for swap week!  This week the inmates exchanged dogs to work on training commands and the dogs get to experience time away from their primary trainers.

Lilly didn’t seem to have any problems being away from her primary trainers.  She performed all of her commands like a champ.  She worked on spin, circle, and bounce this week.  Her temporary trainer says that Lilly is one smart girl and picks up on things very easily!  He says that Lilly is a wonderful dog and he can tell that her primary trainer has taken a lot of time working with her.

Her temporary inmate trainer believes that Lilly is going to make a wonderful addition to her new family!  He enjoyed his time with this sweet girl this week.

Keeping Training Fun

Lilly is a very well-mannered reserved girl.  She’s smart quiet and learns fast.  Her inmate trainer says that Lilly can be stubborn at times.  He says that you have to keep her training fun and mix it up a bit with different commands or new tricks so she’ll stay focused.

Lilly likes to play with toys and to play fetch.  She enjoys running and playing with the other Greyhounds too!  She also likes to relax and watch a little TV!  Laying back in the grass and taking in some sun is on top of her list of favorites as well.  A good nap after eating, training or having a good run is pretty much her standard protocol!  As far as grooming goes, she hasn’t found a love for having her nails trimmed yet.

Now, Lilly loves to eat and can get a little too excited at meal times.  Her inmate trainer has her calm down by sitting and staying.  Once she calms down she’s allowed to enter her kennel to eat.

Lilly’s inmate trainer believes that she is going to be a wonderful companion for her new family!

Playing Fetch

Lilly’s inmate trainer is proud to report that Lilly knows all of her commands!  She’s been working with her secondary inmate trainer all week and has proven that she has mastered everything including her extras!  Her trainer says that all Lilly wants is some love and a few treats and she’s perfectly happy!  Now that she’s proven that she knows everything it’s time to start reducing the treat rewards.

Lilly has very good recall at 25-30 yards away!  Her inmate trainer plans to continue to work on the distance and “here” command.  He says that she’s gotten much better at playing fetch.  She will now automatically drop the toy/ball at your feet in return for a treat.  She doesn’t play long, but she is very enthusiastic in the 15-20 minutes she does play.

Practice Makes Perfect

This has been a good training week for Lilly.  Apart from practicing all of her basic commands, Lill has also been learning to socialize and take commands from others.  She will do her tricks for anyone.  She is a little hesitant at first, but after a few minutes (and lots of treats), she is fine.

She is also fine tuning her list of extra commands which is quite extensive.  She has learned "show me love", "bow", "kisses", "fetch", "drop", "give", "take", "back", "visit", and "paws up".

She loves playing fetch in the pod.  When outside, she will run to a ball or toy but cannot be counted on to bring it back.  She has most definitely taught her inmate trainer how to fetch though!

After a good game of fetch and practicing her commands, Lilly has come to expect a nice belly rub.  She looks at her inmate trainer as if to say, "Ok, I did my job, now it's your turn to do yours."  He swears she is training him too!

What a sweetie - her family is going to adore her!

Loving And Happy

Lilly and her inmate trainer have had a fun week!  They have been steadily working on commands at a distance and playing.  During the course of their playtime Lilly has been perfecting all of her commands.  She is also learning to fetch, give, take, and drop.

Lilly’s inmate trainer says that Lilly is one of the most loving dogs that he has ever come across.  He believes that she could be perfectly happy following someone around as long as they show her some affection and give her lots of belly rubs!

Every morning Lilly wakes up happy and excited to start a new day.  She is eager for attention from her inmate trainer who says he can’t think of a better way to start his day than having a friend like Lilly.

Playing With Toys

This week Lilly has been practicing all of her command and learning to stay and wait in different positions and distances.  Her inmate trainer has also been working muzzle on/muzzle off commands so that Lilly will hold her head still while you put the muzzle in place.

Her inmate trainer says he can’t praise Lilly enough!  She picks up on new commands almost immediately and after only a few times she knows what to do!  As far as extra commands she knows:  show me love, bow, and visit!  She is currently learning back and kiss.  Her inmate trainer is thrilled to say that Lilly has finally started to play with toys!  She was a little reluctant at first, but once she realized it was okay she’s had a blast!

Sweet, Cute, Loving, & Intelligent

AHEM, could I have your attention please?  My name is Lilly and there are a few important things you should know.  I’m cute, sweet, loving, intelligent, adorable (yes, I realize I said cute earlier), and I like attention.  Got all that?  Okay so, let’s move on shall we?

In the last three weeks here at the prison I’ve met new people and learned many new things.  I have learned all twelve of my basic commands.  Now I may be a little slower responding to hurry, stay, and jump but don’t get yourself all worked up over that ‘cause I got this!

My inmate trainer has been working with me to clean up my responses to the commands and has even brought in different people to give me commands so I get use to responding to everyone.  Whatcha think about them oats?!  So we’ve been working on this stay thing and my inmate trainer keeps making me wait/stay longer and backing up to increase the distance between us.  I’m pretty good at this too!  I’ve also learned to bow and this really good command called show me love.  My inmate trainer says that next week we’re going to work on kisses, move, and back.  Should be fun!

What A Smart Girl

Lilly has had a very interesting and exciting week!  She is a quick learner.  During her very first week she learned her name, wait, here, and kennel.  During the past week she has improved her response to these commands as well as learning to sit, heel, down, bed, release, and let’s go!  She also learned two extra commands, show me love, and bow!  Her inmate trainer plans to work on cleaning up Lilly’s response times, but says that the sky’s the limit with this girl!

Lilly’s inmate trainer says that Lilly has been a true blessing!  She likes to stay close and is very affectionate.  He is still trying to get her to play with toys and she seems curious.  He can’t wait to see what’s in store for them next!

Training Days Ahead

When Lilly arrived at the prison she was friendly, but unsure of this new place.  Her inmate trainer says that she’s come a long way during the 72 hour bonding period!  She loves treats and has already learned her name, wait, here and kennel!  Her inmate trainer believes she’s going to be a very quick learner!

Lilly is a loving girl who likes to be near her human.  She’s doing great with her leash walking skills.  So far she hasn’t had any problems walking on the shiny floors.  She did great during a storm that passed through and didn’t seem to be bothered by the thunder.  As a matter of fact, she slept through all of the thunder and lightning!

Her inmate trainer believes that Lilly is going to be a lot of fun to train!
