Squeaky Toys Please

Hello Lacey fans! The weeks are flying by and Lacey’s trainer said he has really enjoyed training this girl. She knows all her basic commands, so now they are working on distance and duration. Lacey is such a sweetheart! She plays well with her toys and loves the stuffed ones that squeak.

Everyone loves Lacey and loves to pet her. Her trainer isn’t sure who enjoys it more. Lacey or the guys. She is sure to win your heart. Get ready for lots of lovin’ from Lacey.

Lacey Is Going To Steal Your Heart

Lacey’s inmate trainer says that Lacey is a loving smart girl who is sure to steal your heart!

This week she did fantastic at Show and Tell!  The “down” command is still a work in progress, but with a little more work she’ll have it all figured out.

She loves to be the center of attention and loves playing with toys.  Lacey gets a toy and runs arounds the yard playing and having a ball!  He says its a wonderful sight to see!

Bobbing for Kibble

Hello, Lacey fans! This is the fifth week in Lacey’s training. She has learned all of her commands except for down, and will start on that one next week. ‘Sit’ and ‘down’ are pretty similar, and her trainer wanted to make sure she had mastered sit before introducing down.

Lacey has started doing something that her trainer found really funny - after letting the dogs out on the dog run, they let them drink water. A few days ago, there was some kibble floating in the water, and Lacey just had to have it. She looked like she was bobbing for apples!

Everything is going smoothly with this sweet girl, and her trainer hopes you are ready to enjoy and love having her around just as much as he has!

Gentle Girl

Each day, Lacey and her trainer wake up at 4:00 o'clock in the morning. Lacey is truly a pleasure to train. She makes him smile each morning as she says hello! Everyone here at Second Chance Academy absolutely loves her and she never seems uncomfortable in any situation. It can be a challenge to not let her be the center of attention while in a training session. Lacey's trainer is proud to say Lacey is his friend. She is showing great improvement in her training all the time. Her trainer tries to keep it fun for her, keeping the training sessions short and exciting which keeps her focused.

They're settling into a regular routine and he has been able to learn more about her personality. She has a toy monkey that has long legs and it is the only toy she likes out of five that she has been introduced to. On a positive note regarding toy etiquette, she cherishes the toy and never tries to rip it up. Her trainer thought that was sweet and definitely worth mentioning . See you next week!

Pawdicure Time

Lacey and her trainer are getting along great. She is bright and charming and never fails to amaze her trainer with her learning ability. This week she learned “jump” and “off” the very first time. She has already learned hurry, let’s go, kennel, heel, here, stay and bed in the short time being at Jenkins.

Lacey loves to be pampered. It was spa day and Lacey got a pawidcure and didn’t mind a bit. She loves being brushed and will lay there enjoying every minute of it. Check back next week to see what new commands she learned.

Outgoing Gal

Lacey loves meeting new people and no one is a stranger to Lacey. She is such a sweetheart and her personality has really started to blossom.  Her inmate trainer said she is such a delight to be around and she enriches his life, giving it meaning and purpose.

After being at Jenkins only a few days, Lacey spotted the TV.  She gave it a few barks to put it in its place and then went about her business.  Lol  This week Lacey worked on her name, sit, stay, leave it and counter surfing.  Lacey also did her first unassisted heel.  She seems to be catching on quickly to what is asked of her.  Of course a tasty treat doesn’t hurt.

Ahead of the Game

Lacey's trainer's first impression of this darling girl was that she is sweet, but not timid or shy. She wagged her tail right away! Lacey is a young and healthy dog, and after her first bath she ate, chewed on her Nyla bone, and slept. Lacey has adapted so easily. Hand-feeding went smoothly and without a hitch. This helps the bonding process between the dogs and their trainers, too! Her trainer likes her a lot; she is attentive and loves affection. In the first few days, Lacey was introduced to leash-walking, wait, let's go, kennel and heel. It's only been a few days and her training is going so well already. Her trainer is so excited to be working with this exceptional hound for the next 10 weeks!
