Swap Week Superstar

This week was swap week for the hounds here at Second Chance! It is a time when the trainers trade dogs with another team to see how they adjust and perform their commands when they come from different people. This also helps test for separation anxiety.

Cain's swap week training team loved him! He loves to play with toys and prefers ones that squeak. He is very well-behaved when he is in his kennel as well as when he is out of the kennel on a day bed. And get those day beds ready because these hounds lounge A LOT.

Cain is also very treat-motivated (seriously, who isn't?) and does not discriminate when it comes to the type of treat! He also loves to take a good walk and is also well-behaved on a leash. From the week his swap week trainer spent with him, he can say with absolute certainty: you are going to love Cain!

You Got Treats??

Cain has had another fantastic week!  He knows all his basic commands as well as “spin” and “circle”.  He enjoys training and spending time with humans.  His inmate trainer has been explaining to him that he’s a greyhound and not an attention hound.  He’s a treat motivated boy so the sky’s the limit on teaching him new things! You got treats he’s got the time!

His inmate trainer believes that Cain will be a big hit in his new home.  He says that his personality is one that you can’t help but love!

No such thing as a stranger

Well, as week seven comes to a close and graduation is quickly closing in, there are no worries for Cain. He has truly never met a stranger. He breezed right through show and tell this week and seemed to really like it. He is at his best when it's time to show off. But next's week's show and tell will be with NO treats, and Cain should still cruise right through it. He is in it for the love of the game! It's amazing how quickly he catches on to everything; he is just so eager to learn. He will be an endless source of fascination for the family lucky enough to snag him. You will thank the heavens every day that you had the wisdom to choose this guy as your new pet and be proud to call yourself his forever family!

Cain. Your New Best Friend

Star Of The Show

Cain’s life is now pretty much a life of luxury.  He’s always entertaining in the big yard.  He’s a smart dog and regardless of who gives the command he performs with perfection.  He is very snack motivated and easy to teach.  He’s the star at Show & Tell and seems to love hanging out with his inmate trainer and all the other trainers and their greyhounds.

Cain’s inmate trainer says that he has been fortunate to be a part of this training session and Cain’s journey. He says that whether it’s time for training or play Cain is always ready!

Mister Friendly

Cain has had a great week! He knows all of his basic commands already and he enjoys doing them (for a treat). He still has a few commands that he needs to work on regarding response time, but he will do them - and there's six whole weeks left to knock these out of the park come graduation time.

He loves people and enjoys his running and playing time. He just started playing with toys this week! He is such a friendly and outgoing dog; everyone loves his company. He is active and playful, but calms down easily. He has helped his trainer so much thiks week with his playful attitude, lifting the spirits of everyone around him. He is going to make such a wonderful pet for any family lucky enough to scoop him!

Smart and Easygoing

Cain is doing great!  He already knows all of his basic commands and does many of them on the first request!  He’s a very smart boy and enjoys all of his training sessions.  He likes to please his human and the treats are not a bad idea either.

Cain’s inmate trainer says that Cain loves people and attention.  He doesn’t mind being the center of attention as it comes with many rewards.  If you’re looking for a smart easygoing boy then Dain’s the one for you!

All Around Superb Hound

Cain has had a GREAT week. He enjoys his training sessions and is so smart, so he learns quickly. This week, he has worked on sit, down, bed and heel, and he performs all of them very well. He is such a great dog and his trainer has not found any aggressive behavior towards anything from Cain. He has acclimated very well to his new environment and is just so laid-back and easy-going. He will make such a wonderful companion. His trainer says he has a wonderful personality and loves training him - everyone in the dorm loves his company!  And you will too!!!

Starting Strong

Cain has had a great start to his retirement.  His trainer spent the first couple days bonding with Cain.  His trainer said he is a calm, laid back boy and very smart.  He is already responding to "let's go", "release" and "bed".  Next week his trainer will introduce more basic commands.  Cain has done extremely well with leash walking and it's only the first week.  His trainer can't wait to see how Cain progresses over the next 9 weeks.  I bet you can't either.  Until next week...
