At The Finish Line

Kiyoko is at the finish line and is ready to go to her forever home. Her trainer only has a few days left and he is treasuring every minute with her.

Kiyoko is wild about shaking hands, and any open palm is an invitation to her. As her trainer is writing this, Kiyoko is in her favorite place in the dorm; laying at her trainer’s feet. She pretends that she is asleep, but don’t be fooled. If you walk away, she will be awake and waiting for your return.

Kiyoko is ready to head home this Thursday. She will definitely be missed.

Knocked It Out Of The Park

Kiyoko knocked Swap Week out of the park!  She knows all of her commands and has even learned to shake!  It’s her new favorite command!  Speaking of favorites, you should know that she loves treats.  At the bottom of her favorite treat list is kibble… well she gets it all of the time so can you blame her?  Next up is marshmallows… now she loves them, but you should have a gas mask handy because she’ll stink up a room after this yummy treat.  She loves popcorn and peanut butter packed Kong toy.  It usually takes her about 30 mins to get all of the goodies out.  The runner up on the special treat list is beef jerky strips or bacon flavored chewy treats.  Okay, so for the ultimate treat reward of choice… it’s peanut butter cookies!!!

Prepare yourself people, you’re gonna lose your hearts to this one!

Greyt Addition

Kiyoko’s time at the Second Chance Greyhounds dorm at Jenkins is coming to a close. She has come a long way from the beginning of the session. She is as sweet and loving as ever. She can be shy at first, but once she bonds with you, she will be your best friend for life.

When Kiyoko gets to her forever home, her new family will be in for a treat. She is the perfect combination of a family pet. She is willing to follow you around the house until she gets the attention she craves, or Kiyoko is content to lay on the floor at your feet waiting to be petted. Either way, you are getting a great addition to your family.

Special Little Lady

Kiyoko is a very special girl! Her secondary trainer got to show her off at “show and tail”. This was his first one with Kiyoko and he was quite nervous, but they came out and rocked the show! He was so proud of her. She did awesome!

Right Kiyoko’s primary trainer is working on the “down” command with her, so hopefully by next week, she will have it checked off on her list of commands she knows. They will also be working on “wait”, “heel” and “sit”. Check back next week to see how Kiyoko progressed.

Fast Learner

Kiyoko has come a long way in 6 weeks!  Her inmate trainer says that she’s a sweet girl who is aware of her surroundings at all times.  He says that she has  a lot of amazing characteristics.  She is awesome with having her teeth brushed, feet touched and coat brushed.  She’s a fast learner and goes through all her commands with ease.  She can be a little slow with the heel command.  Not to worry though, her inmate trainer says that Kiyoko will have this down pat by the time she arrives at graduation.

She does really well with stairs.  Keep in mind they only have 4 steps to work with but, she’s doing great with them and doesn’t try to jump up or down.

Zoom!

Kiyoko Is having another great week here in the Second Chance Greyhounds Academy for Superb Speed Noodles! It is so cute watching her run on the big yard with the other dogs. She takes off at first, but when she realizes that she is running without her trainers, she comes back to check on them. This happens over and over again until she's totally exhausted, then she comes back and waits to be leashed up so she can go inside for a nap. Kiyoko has a great personality, and is going to be a welcome addition to any lucky family that welcomes her home!

Shining Star

Kiyoko had her first time to shine at Show and Tail this week!  For Show and Tail the dogs get to show off everything they’ve learned in front the other inmates and hounds.  Kiyoko was a little shy at first, but found the courage to let her light shine.  Her inmate trainer says that she’s already learned the first half of her commands and is well on her way with picking up more.

She ran in the big yard this week and formed a friendship with Sadie.  They trotted around together and seemed to be off in their own little world.

Silly Girl

Kiyoko is such a funny little girl.  She got to run in the big yard today and took off like a bullet. Then realized her inmate trainer wasn’t with her, so she turned around and went back to him to see if he was okay.  She seemed to understand that with only two legs he was gonna be a little slower.

They continue to work on Kiyoko’s commands, or treat time as she likes to call it.  She’s doing really well and continues to improve every day.  Or should we say her inmate trainer is providing the proper amount of treats for progress.

Love Those Ears!

Another great week at the doggie dormitory for Kiyoko!  She’s been learning to lay in the bed and relax and enjoy retirement.  She’s crazy about a lot of activity around her while she’s in bed, but this is all still new to her.  She loves to roll over and have her belly rubbed.

Her inmate trainer says that Kiyoko is so cute!  One ear will lie flat while the other swivels around like a radar, tracking distant sounds.  Her inmate trainer says that he’s having a great time working with this sweet girl.

Belly Rubs!

Kiyoko’s inmate trainer says she did great on her first day!  She was a little shy at first, but warmed up in just a few days.  She laid down next to him and rolled over for a belly rub.  He says he’s taking things slowly by allowing her to investigate the dorm at her own pace.

Kiyoko is a sweet and loving girl and he’s looking forward to training her.
