Puppy Dog Eyes

Saying goodbye is never easy, but it’s easier when you know that your job has been done. Darragh was always a wonderful dog, but watching him grow and learn new things has been exciting for his trainers. His commands have grown stronger. He still needs some work on “Stay” but it’s only because he gets so excited, that he just can’t “Stay” in one place.

Darragh’s quirky personality stays on full blast all of the time. The big puppy dog eyes he gives you are priceless. His trainer has never seen a dog with eyes like his. He still doesn’t play with toys, although you will catch him biting his own leg from time to time for no reason. You can’t help but laugh at him.

Darragh knows when you are sad and he will comfort you. His trainers truly know that he is the best! They are going to miss him so much!

Loves His Blanket

Now that the time is coming closer to an end, all of Darragh’s Basic Commands are really getting polished up. He is so eager to learn anything new.

His energy level is up there most of the time, but sometimes he just wants to take a nap and lounge around. He is going to make a perfect addition to wherever he goes. He still doesn’t really care about playing with toys but he loves to play with his blanket.

His trainers have been working on the stairs more and more. Darragh can do the stairs, but you have to get him started, then he will follow you up. He can come down them just fine.

Darragh’s trainers will truly miss this love bug when he leaves.

Loves The Outdoors

As Darragh’s time starts getting shorter, his trainers are working hard on the last two commands. Darragh seems to get the concept of “Stay” and “Heel”. He gets excited and wants to follow. He will “Stay” for a few feet though.

With the days starting to get nicer, Darragh is really becoming an outdoor loving dog. He likes to lay in the dirt in the sunshine after he is finished playing. He loves running with Dancer every time they go outside. He still isn’t a big toy or ball playing fan, but he likes chewing on rope toys. Darragh also enjoys eating apples and lounging around. He’s a sweet boy and his trainers know it won’t take long for him to win your heart.

Very Cool Pup

The trainer for Darragh during “Swap week” said that it sure was a treat to have him. He is so goofy and has a good time everyday.

Anytime he can get some loving from someone, he is all over them. Darragh has a very sweet, friendly and trusting disposition. He will definitely keep you laughing because he is so silly! He did great with all of his commands and tricks for his swap week trainer.

He settled right in with his swap week trainer and did not show any sign of separation anxiety or any other behavior changes. The trainer said he seems to be smiling all of the time! Darragh is going to make a great edition to his new family. Darragh is a very cool pup.

Perfectly Balanced Dog

Darragh is still working very hard. He has progressed in such a short amount of time. He is doing so much better with “Heel” and “Stay” although after a few short moments, he gets excited and is ready to play.

Darragh is a perfectly balanced dog. He spends some time napping and lounging and at other times he is socializing with the other people and dogs. He runs very well with the dogs and no longer needs encouragement to do so. He enjoys playing with the ball, but is more interested in simply running freely.

Darragh will not hesitate to let you know when it is time to eat and sleep! A few playful barks does the trick. There are several additional command’s his trainers hope to master in the upcoming week. His quick wit and eagerness to learn will make this task fun and easy.

Huge Heart

Darragh has been showing everyone what he is made of. He has completely broken out of his shell and decided the world is his. There is one particular nurse that he always gets so excited for. He thinks he is a puppy and tries to get into her lap. He forgets that he is a good size fellow.

Darragh is so empathetic also. He went over to another inmate that was having a bad day. She started to cry and he went over and licked her face and kept giving her his paw until she eventually started laughing. Afterward, he knew his job was done and he walked away. He has such a huge heart.

His trainers are still working very hard on his commands. He has gotten a lot better with the “Stay” command. He is attached to his primary trainer and will hold the “Stay” command longer for someone else. Darragh also has a strong bond with the secondary trainer as well. He greets her when she comes in from work. If she doesn’t say goodbye to him he will look for her throughout the dorm.

He is such a great people dog!

Loves To Speak

Darragh is really coming out of his shell. He has become more playful with toys and other people. He is still aloof to other dogs but that is okay.

His trainers are continuing to work with him on his commands and for the most part, he has got them down. The “Stay” and “Heel” command are a work in progress at the moment. Darragh gets excited when they start training and he has a hard time sitting still for “Stay.” They have started teaching him some extra tricks, one being “Speak.” He learned that in a hurry and now if he wants something from his trainer, he will “Speak.” Darragh is extremely smart.

He still hasn’t opened up to running outside, but he does like to lay in the grass and just relax. They have a nightly routine now, at 7:00 p.m. it is quiet time and his trainer will read while Darragh lays down and naps. At 10:30 p.m. it is time for bed and in the kennel he goes.

A Barrel Of Laughs

Darragh is just a barrel of laughs. He continues to shine with his personality, more and more everyday. All he wants to do is be loved by everyone around. He will stay with you as long as you pet him. He is as laid back as they come.

Darragh’s training is going along quite nicely. He is as eager as ever to do what you ask of him. He’s a smart boy!

Darragh really isn’t that interested in plush toys, he likes ones he can chew on instead. He will steal your soda bottle in a heartbeat, just to have a chance to chew on it. He isn’t one for being outside and playing very long, but as time passes, his trainers are hoping he will enjoy the outdoors as well. The weather hasn’t been very nice, so his trainers think once it warms up he will have lots of fun lounging in the sun.

A Soft Soul

This has been a week of progress all around. Darragh is a very quick learner. His trainers have gone through most of his basic commands and he has a good hold on most of them. They have been working with “Stay” but he hasn’t quite gotten that one down yet, but is working hard.

Darragh is a soft soul. Darragh isn’t exactly a runner. He tends to gallup when outside. He’s so cute to watch.

Darragh doesn’t seem to know what to do with the balls when outside playing. His trainer thinks that as time goes by he will really open up when it comes to playing outside.

A Giant Love Bug

This has been an exciting week. Getting to know the new dogs is always a great time for everyone. Darragh is just a giant love bug. The only thing he wants to do is get love. He will lean into you and not stop. No matter if you stop, he’ll still stand there and wait for you to start petting again.

They have already started training and learning their basic commands. Darragh is slow to respond to “Sit.” He confuses “Sit” with the “Down” command. But he can “Sit” beautifully when he does it. He knows “Bed” right now, although he is not one to lay on the bed for long.

Darragh is not able to run right now, but when he does, he is going to be “Heck on Wheels.”
