Goodbye and Hello

The time for goodbye has arrived.  This week Amy and her inmate trainer have been working on polishing up on all of her basic commands.  She’s also been working on a few extras: bow, leave it, and give.  She has “bow” and “give” mastered, but can be a little stubborn about “leave it.”

Her inmate trainer says that Amy is a blast to play with.  She never plays rough and calms easily. He says that Amy has brought him so much joy and he’s going to miss her very much.  He’s very happy that she’s going to a forever home with a new family to shower her with love.

Showing 'Em How Its Done

Swap week for Amy!  She spent some time with an alternate inmate trainer this week showing the new guy how awesome she is!  Her alternate inmate trainer says that Amy is gentle yet playful and when you pet her she arches her back like a cat!  She loves attention and didn’t seem to mind spending time away from her primary trainer.

Amy’s alternate trainer says that her primary trainer has done an amazing job teaching Amy her commands!  She knows all of her commands really well and performs them quickly. He says that it has been a pleasure working with her this week!

Wonderful On Four Legs

Amy already knows all of her basic commands so she spent time this week polishing them up a bit.  They also worked on a few extras:  bow, leave it, and give.  She’s a little slow responding to “leave it”, but is doing great with “give”.  Her inmate trainer says that he can reach and grab a toy that she has in her mouth while saying “give” and she’ll let the toy go!

Amy’s been working on bed sharing as she hasn’t been a fan of other dogs on her bed with her.  She’s shown great improvement and as a matter of fact, she had two other dogs laying in the bed with her this week!

Amy’s inmate trainer says that this 10 week session with Amy is going by way too fast.  He can’t believe that she’ll be going to her forever home in just a couple of weeks!  He’s going to be sad to see her go, but is happy that she’s going to have a wonderful life.  He believes that her new family is going to be very happy with this amazing girl!

Miss Wonderful

Hi Ya!  My name is Amy and I’m working on my basic commands for my forever-home future! Oh wait, my inmate trainer just said it’s called retirement.

So this week I’ve been learning to jump!  My inmate trainer says this will help my forever humans when it’s time to get into the car.  I’m all for helping, but I wonder what I’ll be jumping onto.  Here at the prison I jump on a bench which has a shiny top and it’s kinda slippery.  It scares me a little so I have to think about it before making that leap.  Now, you should know that I’m great with “leave it,” “give,” “let’s go” and "stairs"!

If I had to describe myself I’d say that I’m loving and enjoy attention.  I also enjoy playing outside! You know, there’s just something special about feeling the wind in your fur!  I really love squeaky toys!  You can squish those things between your teeth and they let out this thrilling squeal!  It’s fabulous!

It’s important that you know that I’m a sweet well behaved girl who is eager to please her human. Seeing my human happy means I’ve been successful!  Honestly, if you called me Miss Wonderful that’d be okay.

Laid Back and Full of Sweetness

This week Amy and her inmate trainer worked on refining all of the basic commands.  Amy’s still a little unsure about the “jump” command, but she’s making progress.  “Stay” and “heel” are her best commands right now.  She’s so good with “down-stay” that her inmate trainer can walk around the dorm for a few minutes and Amy never moves!

Amy is a laid back girl who has a loving and friendly personality.  She loves to play with squeaky toys and tennis balls.  When she does get excited she calms very easily.  She loves for people to pet and rub her sides while she’s lying down.  When her inmate trainer stops petting her and tries to get up she puts her paw on him as if she’s asking him to stay just a little longer. Her inmate trainer says that he knows that Amy’s forever family is going to fall in love with this amazing girl!

Tennis Balls!

Amy has made excellent progress with “sit” and “down” this week!  Her inmate trainer says that she usually performs “sit or “down” on the first or second que.  She’s doing really well with all of her basic commands and her inmate trainer believes that she’ll have them all down in a week or so.

They started working on the “jump” command this week and Amy’s not too sure what to think about it.  They’ll continue going over this command to help Amy gain confidence.  After most training sessions Amy gets to have a fun playtime as a reward for a job well done!  She has recently discovered tennis balls and has fallen in love!  Her inmate trainer finds himself spending 10 mins just bouncing the ball so that Amy can catch it!  Her inmate trainer says that Amy brings so much joy to his life.  He says that she’s such a loving and sweet girl who’s sure to brighten the home of some lucky family.

Oh, Squeaky Toy

Amy has won her inmate trainer over with her sweet personality.  He says that her small stature and the sweet faces she makes are hard to resist.  She’s a calm dog but is ready to play when she hears a squeaky toy.  So far her favorite squeaky is a green alligator.  She usually gets playtime after a training session as a reward for a job well done.

Amy is making progress with her basic commands.  She is a little slow responding to “sit” and “down” but she’s improving daily.  Her inmate trainer has started working “bow” into her daily commands and he believes she’ll have this figured out soon!

Amy is a sweet girl who does really well with grooming and doesn’t mind being approached while eating.  She has no problems being around the other inmates, staff, or other Greyhounds.  She’s a girl who loves attention and will be a wonderful companion to some lucky family.

Friendly and Loving

This week with Amy has been very productive.  She and her inmate trainer have been working on basic commands and have made great progress!  They’ve covered: sit, down, wait, stay, heel, bed, hurry, let’s go, and kennel!  Amy has made excellent progress with “sit,” “down,” and “heel”.  Her trainer is confident that in another couple of weeks she’ll know all her basic commands really well!  Once she has the basics down pat they’ll start working on some fun extras!

This week they also worked on some stair training.  Amy’s inmate trainer is very proud to say that Amy had no problems going up or down the steps! Her inmate trainer is very happy to report that more of Amy’s personality is starting to emerge and he can't wait to watch her grow!  He already knows that she’s a very loving and friendly girl who loves attention!

Adjusting to This New Life

Amy’s inmate trainer has been taking things slowly allowing her time to adjust to this new environment.  She’s making great progress and doing really well with the “heel” and “bed” commands.  She loves to lay on her bed in the day room and watch people walk around.

She’s really opened up this week and has begun playing with toys.  She loves playing with the other Greyhounds and enjoys hanging out with her friend Jasmine.  Amy has no problem sharing her toys and calms very easily.  She’s a tiny little girl and everyone in the dorm wants to baby her.

Amy’s inmate trainer is looking forward to training and watching Amy grow!

Welcome to Training!

Amy’s inmate trainer says that his first thought upon seeing her was… WOW what a little Greyhound.  Needless to say, he instantly fell in love with her.  He said it’s kinda hard not to when she looks at you with those sweet little eyes.

Amy and her inmate trainer have spent the last few days getting to know each other.  So far Amy has been very loving and eager to learn.  She hasn’t been very interested in toys…. well until she met a squeaky toy and now she’s trying to figure that thing out!

She is responding well to her name and they’ve even started working on a few commands already!  Her inmate trainer says that he is looking forward to the coming weeks with Amy and can’t wait to watch her personality emerge!
