Graduation Has Arrived

Baylee is a very sweet and exciting girl who’s ready for her forever home.  She was easy to train and passed her graduation exam with no problems.  Her inmate trainer says that she loves yellow balls of any size and tennis seems to be a favorite sport!

Baylee can be possessive about her food, but her inmate trainer has been working with her to “leave it” and this has helped.  This week they worked on the “shake” command and she seems to have gotten it well.  Her trainers hope that her new family will work with her on this new command rewarding her with lots of praise and a few treats now and then.

Her inmate trainer knows that her new family will fall in love with this sweet girl.  He’s going to miss her, but is happy that she gets a second chance to be a pet.

Preparing To Say Goodbye

Well, were coming down the home stretch with training.  Her inmate trainer says that she pretty much has the commands down perfectly, but can be a little stubborn at times.  She is no longer training with treats and only gets them after the training session is over.

Sand has been added to the yard and she loves to lay in it.  She also loves to roam around outdoors checking things out.  She usually does her own thing out of the way of the others, unless they’re chasing the giant ball.  They all go crazy over the giant ball!

It’s hard to believe that it’s only one more week before it’s time to say goodbye.  Her inmate trainer is going to miss her, but has truly enjoyed working with this sweet girl.

Laid Back

Swap week has come and gone!  Baylee spent the week with her temporary handler going over the basic commands. She did well adjusting to her new environment.  Her temporary handler says the Baylee is a laid back girl who can be a little stubborn about doing her commands if no treats are involved!  He says that she will follow through, but slowly.  If you have a treat reward she gets it in gear and responds like a pro!

Her alternate handler says that Baylee is not a fan of having anyone around her food, but they're working to help her understand that no one wants to take food from her.  Both her alternate and primary handlers believe they can help Baylee overcome this response.

Baylee Bear

Baylee, referred to as Balyee Bear by her inmate trainer, is getting better each and every day!  Her training is progressing nicely!  She knows here, sit, down, and stay with hand signal only commands.  She has let’s go and release down pat with verbal only requests!  Her inmate trainer has virtually eliminated the use of kibble rewards while training and is using praise rewards in their place!

So, Balyee has fallen in love with a new toy but only if the other dogs are using it!  It’s a giant beach ball!  The dogs go crazy with it and Balyee falls in love everytime they have it!

It’s time for swap the hound week and Baylee will be going to spend some time with an alternate handler next week!  She’ll get to experience time away from her primary trainer and receiving and responding to commands from a new trainer!  Her primary trainer is going to miss her, but knows that Baylee will do a good job for her new temporary handler.

New Toys

This week Baylee and her inmate trainer have been working on commands from a distance.  She's picking up this new process really well!  He is also working to slowly wean her off the treat reward and rewarding her with praise instead.  She is getting much better with the "leave it" command, but she still not interested in jumping on the bench yet.  Going down the stairs is no problem, but she's not a big fan of going up them.  She and her inmate trainer will continue to work together conquer these commands!

Baylee has found a new toy that she absolutely loves.... a half deflated basketball!  She'll play with it until she doesn't have any energy left!

Her inmate trainer says that Baylee is a wonderful dog who is easy to fall in love with.  He knows that she is going to make some lucky family very happy!

Sweet Baylee

It's hard to believe that training has reached the half-way point!  Baylee's inmate trainer is amazed at how far Baylee has come.  He says that she has made tremendous progress and that he's very proud of her.  Baylee has just about has all of her basic commands down and her inmate trainer is working on extra commands every few days!  They are currently working on "leave it."  They've also been working on stairs and benches.  Baylee does just fine coming down the stairs, but she's not so sure about the journey going up.  Jumping up on the bench is a work in progress and her inmate trainer hopes to have her jumping soon.

Baylee will play with toys, but the tennis ball is her ultimate favorite!  She doesn't interact with the other dogs at playtime and seems to prefer her own company.

Fine Tuning The Basics

Why hello! I'm Baylee.  My inmate trainer and I are working to fine tune my basic commands. I can do some of my commands with a hand signal only request! I'll have them all mastered soon. This week my inmate trainer and I worked on stairs.  I'm a little unsure about going up, but do not mind going down them at all! I must confess that I enjoy my privacy while training.

I don't mind playing with my fellow Greys, but I'm just as happy playing on my own.  I love to play with my tennis ball and will use up all of my energy on it!  I enjoy grooming time the attention is nice.

Week Three Already

Week three of training already!  Baylee is doing well with her training even doing some commands without a treat incentive!  She knows hurry, let's go, kennel, release, wait, heel, sit, down, stay, and bed with verbal commands.  She know "here" with verbal and hand signal commands!

Her favorite toy is the tennis ball and she'll wear herself out with it!  Her inmate trainer says that Baylee is getting used to laying around in the busy day room area.  He is looking forward to being apart of the days ahead with Baylee!

Making Headway

Baylee is a sweet girl who is emerging from her cocoon!  She is making progress with her basic commands.  She is mastering the here command at a short distance and her inmate trainer believes that she'll be sitting on her own very soon.  She hurries on the leash when she finds the perfect spot.  Let's go and here are commands that she knows well.  Her inmate trainer will be working to earn faster responses on kennel, release and heel.

While in the big yard she enjoys a short run, but usually likes to do her own thing.  Her toy of choice is a tennis ball.  She'll chew on a kong if it has a hidden treat.  She loves to eat and gets really excited at meal times.

Her inmate trainer says that Baylee is a joy to be around and helps him through the rough days. He is looking forward to his time with this amazingly sweet girl.

Starting A New Life

Baylee has stolen her inmate's heart!  Prison has been a big change for her with all of it's loud noises and new smells.  She is adjusting and beginning to come out of her shell.  For now, she is happiest around smalls groups of people.

She has learned to "hurry" on the leash, to "wait" at doors and to "let's go" when requested.  Her inmate trainer believes that she will be "sitting" and going into the "down" position in no time!  Baylee will run and play with the other dogs then turn to do her own thing.

As Baylee continues to settle in her inmate trainer is looking forward to watching her personality emerge.
