"Hold it" Sasha

Sasha's training at the prison is coming to an end.  She passed her final exam with flying colors!  She knows all her basic commands and extras.  Her extras are:  "leave it", "kisss" and "hold it".  "Hold it" is where you can place a treat on her nose in the "down" position and Sasha will leave it there until told to "release".

Sasha's inmate trainer said she has been an absolute joy to train and be around every day.  She is such a loving dog with a warm personality.  She always wants to please.   Her trainer knows Sasha will bring years of joy to her new adopted family.

All Around Fun Girl

Sasha's trainer cannot believe he only has 10 more days with this beautiful girl!  The week's have flown by.  He says she has been a complete pleasure to train and bond with.  She knows all of her commands, but they are still practicing them daily.  You know what they say about repetition.

She loves running around the yard chasing a frisbee or soccer ball, or just playing with the other greyhounds.  She's just an all around fun greyhound.

Sasha is so laid back and friendly and lets anyone love on her and pet her.  Her trainer will dearly miss her, but knows she will be loved and cared for by her new forever family.

Here To Entertain

Hello Sasha fans!  I'm back after another fun week of training.  My inmate trainer taught me a new trick this week.  He puts me in the "down" position and then places pieces of kibble along my nose and tells me to "leave it".  I don't move a muscle. My trainer laughs and takes the kibble and gives it to me and tells me I'm the BEST dog EVER!  I do enjoy entertaining him.

I know all of my commands and still enjoy running around outside.  I know I would make a great forever pet for anyone who wants a smart, laid back and loving girl in their family. The list goes on. Don't wait too long, or someone else may snag me up first.

Peanut Butter - Yum

Welcome back Sasha fans!  Basic commands have been mastered by this awesome girl!  She is picking up on the extra commands slowly but surely.  She is learning "leave it", "kiss" and "shake".  She's going to have you singing "I kissed a greyhound and I liked it."  LOL

Sasha is still the most laid back greyhound in the dorm.  She loves attention and will lay on your lap and let you pet her all day long!  Sasha's trainer says her tummy was upset this week due to some rich treats, so he is avoiding them and just feeding her peanut butter sandwiches and kibble as treats.  Her inmate trainer makes the peanut butter sandwiches with grain free treats with peanut butter in between them.  She loves these just as well, with no tummy issues.

One thing her inmate trainer noticed this week is she has slight sleep startle.  She will be deep asleep with her eyes open.  If you pet her, she will growl.  She then wakes herself up, almost embarrassed that it happened.  To prevent this, her inmate trainer will call her name to wake her up and feed her a piece of kibble before he does anything else.  This seems to work very well with her.

Who's ready to adopt Sasha?  She's patiently waiting for her forever family.

Loving the Outdoors

Another great week of training is under Sasha's belt and she knows all of her basic commands very well.  She knows all of them with a verbal cue and most of them with hand signals too.  Pretty impressive!  "Kiss" and "shake" we introduced this week as extra commands.  She's starting to get the hang of them.

Sasha practiced going up and down the stairs this week.  At first she wasn't a fan of them, but after the 2nd try she was walking up and down them like a champ.

Sasha loves playing outside.  It's her favorite thing now.  She loves to run, jump and wrestle with her greyhound buddies.  She also likes a good game of fetch with a frisbee or soccer ball, and is not happy when playtime outside is over.

She has started playing with toys inside at random, which confuses her inmate trainer.  He never knows when to try and get Sasha to play.  What a silly girl!

Retirement Is Serious Business

Sasha is doing great grasping all of her basic commands!  She does them on cue and will hold the “down” position for several minutes while her inmate trainer disappears around the dorm!  She’s coming out of her shell and loves running outside with the other dogs.  Lying around is still her favorite thing to do, but she will train and walk anytime her inmate trainer wants to.

Sasha’s inmate trainer says that his favorite thing about Sasha is how calmly and purposefully she does her commands.  He can set a bowl of food right between her front paws while she’s in the down position and she will politely wait till she is given permission to eat!  He says that she is a wonderful dog and he’s really enjoying his time with her.

Smart, Lovable and Laid Back

It has been a really fun week for Sasha.  She continues to improve and become more consistent with all of her basic commands.  Although, she prefers to just lay around and chill most of the time, she surprises her trainer by running fast, wagging her tail, and chasing after several of the other dogs.  She is super fast and loves to run!  Sasha also found her voice on the big yard.  She was barking and playing with another greyhound.  What a sight to see!

This week her trainer worked on the "down" and "stay" with her food bowl.   He would place the bowl between her paws and she would calmly lay there and "wait" until she was told to eat.  She has such great table manners, and is waiting to show you.

Sasha also worked on "leave it".  Talk about self-control.  She did awesome!  If you are looking for a lovable, smart and laid back gal, then Sasha's for you!

Running Fast and Learning Fast

Sasha has learned her name and responds every time her inmate trainer calls her. She had adjusted well to her new surroundings.  So far, “kennel” and “bed” are her favorite commands, but she’s learning “sit,” “stay,” “down,” here,” and “heel”.

Sasha loves the big yard!  She kinda likes to remind everyone how fast she is.  Her inmate trainer was surprised at how quickly she can take off and reach maximum speed.  She’s starting show some interest in toys, but she hasn’t really figured them out yet.  She worked on stairs this week and did great the first time up and down, but she was over it by the second time and ready for a nap!

Squeaky Clean

Hi everyone!  I'm a 4 1/2 year old retired racer.  My track name is Kane's Joan Baez, but now I think it is Sasha, because my trainer keeps calling me that.  When I look at him, he smiles and gives me a treat!  How cool is that?

So far this place is pretty nice.  When I got here they gave me a bath and cleaned my ears.  Now I'm squeaky clean and my coat is so shiny and soft.  I'm so beautiful.  Just you wait and see.

There are 13 other greyhounds and 49 guys here.  It's been a little intimidating with all the attention and commotion I've been getting, but I'm warming up to it more every day.  I like having my teeth brushed and my nails trimmed.  I don't have any food aggression and I really don't like playing with toys just yet.  I'm not really sure what to do with them.  I'm very laid back and I love my kennel and my bed.

I'm never in a hurry to get anywhere, unless it's running in the big yard with my other greyhound buddies.  I walk really well on my leash.  I've learned to "wait" at the door, "hurry", "let's go", "kennel", and my favorite one "bed".  I heard I am going to be learning a lot more so I am ready for my forever home.  That sounds so wonderful.....Home.
