What a Doll!

Sassy and Tito

Sassy and Tito

That's Ms. Sassy there on the left.  Isn't she a doll?  Who could possibly say "no" to that face.  She is just the sweetest girl - full of life, full of sunshine, and full of kisses.  Yes, her cup overruneth with kisses.  She will kiss the freckles right off your face and not think anything of it. But that's just how she rolls.

Sassy has been at my home convalescing from her tendon surgery since May 29th, a mere four and a half weeks ago.  Her bandages are off, stitches are out, and her foot continues to heal and the swelling continues to go down.

I'm still leash walking her and will continue to do so for another 4 weeks or thereabouts.  She's dying to be free of me, I think, but not quite yet.  I certainly don't want to risk any damage to the tendon repair.

So, in the meantime, we are best buds.  Tied at the hip, well, almost.

Stay tuned for more updates and pictures of this adorable girl!

Sassy Patty Has Arrived

I received a phone call from Alan at Southern New England kennel at the Birmingham Race Course a week or two ago.  He had a Greyhound in his kennel who needed our help.  It was Sassy Patti (that is what was written on her kennel, however, her registered name is JM's Sassy Patty).  Most of us who have been to the kennel in the last 6 months or so knew of Ms. Sassy Patti and I couldn't resist her myself.  She is such a cutie pie.  And the white and red colors of my original 3-pack, back in the day.

So, I asked our Board their thoughts and they agreed we could help her.  The original diagnosis for Ms. Sassy Patti was a broken hock and possibly the Achilles tendon was damaged.  As it turns out, it was just the Achilles tendon, not a broken hock which is still a very traumatic and costly ($1,700) injury.  Second Chance Greyhounds graciously offered to pay for her surgery and take her, rehab her and then find her a wonderful home.

I picked her up Friday evening after work.  Regina Stancil helped get her from the vet in Birmingham with me meeting her in Oxford.  Thanks, again, Regina.  You're the best.

Ms. Sassy Patti has settled in here at the Peterson household.  She is doing really well, however, has had a few slips on the floor which have caused me to almost have a heart attack.  It's not the floors she is having trouble with but her overall disposition is just so darn happy and sunny, that she has trouble toning it down and with an injury like hers, she just has to!

What a love bug, just full of love, kisses, and more love!  Watch this blog for more updates as we continue our journey.
