Certified Great Hound

Hello! Just dropping in to tell you about a greyhound named Jewel.  One lucky swap week trainer got to hang out with her and the results are back: she is a great dog! She knows all of her commands and does what she is supposed to do. She is a little bit more active than the average greyhound and very outgoing, but these are good things. Her swap week trainer loved spending time with her and just hanging out. She loves lying on the bed and just chilling. She is one cool dog!

Jewel is going to make a great pet and member of your family. Her swap week trainer works with her on everything and she does exactly what he tells her. He was so happy to see all she has learned and all that she knows. She will make such a great pet! Until next time.

The Best Girl!

Hi, and thanks for coming to check in on Jewel! Her trainer can’t believe there’s only a few more weeks left with this beautiful gal. You know what they say – time flies when you’re having fun.

Jewel is still doing an excellent job and performing all of her commands perfectly. All of the fine folks on her training team love her and will definitely miss her when she goes to her new home. Her primary trainer feels certain that you will fall in love with her instantly when she hits you with one of her classic Jewel smiles – she’s always wearing one! Or when she comes up to you and gives you some love; that’s one of his favorite things about her.

Her primary trainer has had the privilege of working with several dogs during his time at Second Chance, and Jewel is by far the happiest, prettiest dog he has ever worked with. He has no doubts that you will be getting an AWESOME new family member if you’re lucky enough to take her home.

Thanks again for checking on her – see you next week!

Lots Of Smiles With Jewel

Jewel continues to work hard to master all of her commands.  She breezed through Show and Tell this week doing everything perfectly.   She watched a movie and did some reading with her inmate trainer this week.   He says that she’s a joy to have around,  She loves to curl up and nap; retirement is serious business.

Her inmate trainer says that he’s looking forward to the days ahead with this sweet girl and believes that she’s going to bring lots of smiles to her new family.

Top Of The Class

Jewel has been such a joy to work with. She is so smart and lovable. If she could be in your lap, that’s where she would be, but she settles with just her head in your lap. Greyhounds can be lap dogs, right?

Jewel has now been introduced to all of the basic commands and her trainer said she has caught on very well to all of them. They are working on distance, duration and fine tuning them. Show and tell was this week and Jewel did super well. She was in the top of her class and her trainer is very proud of her. He said she is a blast to work with.

Rare Jem

Last week Jewel was introduced to sit, jump/off and stay.  She’s doing really well with these new commands and loves the jump/off command.  Her inmate trainer plans to work on distance and duration now.  The goal is to be able to walk out of sight, then come back and treat her before she is released.

She’s learning all of her commands with both verbal and hand signal cues and she’s planning to knock them all out the park!

Super Smart Girl

Jewel’s inmate trainer says that week 4 has been a blast! She’s a happy girl who does well with a morning walk to help her burn off some of her energy.  She does well with her kennel routine - “wait”, kennel door opened, then “release” and “heel”.  She's super smart and treat motivated which helps with training.  Her favorite command seems to be “bed”.  She’s doing great with staying even when her trainer walks away and comes back!  She’s also been really well with the “here” command.  Keeping her focused and having fun is her inmate trainers goal.

Jewel doesn’t mind having her teeth brushed or her ears cleaned.   She seems to enjoy the attention.

What's Next?

Week 3 with Jewel has come and gone!  They performed during Show and Tell this week and Jewel did really well!  She was introduced to toys and seems to like them!  Playing is sooo much fun and will be a good reward system as well.

Her inmate trainer says that she’s catching on very quickly and the plan is to introduce new commands as she gets a good grasp on the current ones:  heel, wait and leave it.  He’s enjoying working with her and can’t wait to see what she learns next.

Gimme Some Lovin'

This girl loves attention! Jewel is full of love and life. She loves to have her ears rubbed non-stop. This is the only reward she needs. She is smart and motivated to learn. so she’s catching on quickly to what is asked of her. She is full of energy at times, so her trainer is working on eye contact before every command. This ensures her full attention. She has been introduced to wait, stay, release, kennel, down and heel. Check back next week for updates on beautiful Jewel.
