Huge Personality

Rico’s swap week trainer said Rico is an extremely affectionate baby. He loves his belly rubbed. He is such a lovable boy with a huge personality. He is treat motivated. He can be easily distracted. He did all his basic commands for his swap week trainer and his extras.

Rico loves to play with toys and is doing quite well with the “give” command. His trainer said to be assertive and alpha when giving Rico his commands and he will follow through. Rico is very friendly. He loves to play and seeks attention. His swap week trainer said he was a joy to have around.

Ready. Set. Rico!

Every day this week Rico has played with a new toy.  At times during his excitement he didn’t want to share his toy so his inmate trainer went back to the basics, reminding him how fun sharing can be.  He quickly remembered and carried on as usual.  He does all of his commands, even with different people making requests.  He has all his extra commands figured out and responds like a champ.  He’s a perfect mix of playful and relaxation.  His inmate trainer says Rico is great with people and she’s sure you are going to love him to pieces.

Fan Favorite

 They did Show and Tail this week and Rico was a crowd favorite.  He did all of his commands with ease!  His inmate trainer says that Rico is a sweet boy whose energetic nature makes him a lot of fun.  While energetic, he’s equally content with lounging around and relaxing.  He seems to have a healthy balance between playtime and downtime.    He’s got his commands down pat with verbal and hand signal cues.  

One Happy Hound!

Rico’s positive energy brightens everyone’s day! You can’t help but smile when he’s around. Any toy he hasn’t played with that day, is his new favorite toy. His training sessions are always eventful, because he never shows a lack of enthusiasm. He knows all his basic commands well and also knows a list of extras.

Rico plays very well on or off leash in the big yard. He loves to run. It can be by himself, with other dogs or people. It doesn’t matter. He’s one happy greyhound!

Friendliest Greyhound Around

Rico is still the friendliest, most lovable greyhound ever! He is not a shy dog and does not mind crowds. This week was show and tell. This is an event where all the dogs display the commands they have learned so far. Rico did every single command with ease. The goal this week is to teach Rico to do his commands using only hand signals. Check back next week for his progress.

Tennis Anyone?

Rico’s personality hasn’t changed much since he arrived. He still loves to be rubbed and petted. His new found love is a tennis ball, which he can play with all by himself for a long time without getting tired.

Training sessions are not only exciting for Rico, but for his trainers as well. They never know which command he is going to master in a matter of minutes. He’s pretty much mastered his basic commands and a bunch of extras too.

Rico loves to walk around the dorm. Going up and down the stairs seems to be his favorite form of exercise. He is easily entertained and will not hesitate to smile to show you his excitement. He’s a fun greyhound to have around.

Treats & Training, Go Hand In Hand

Rico has adjusted very well to his new environment in only a week. Not only does he go into his kennel with ease, he seems to prefer it. The extra blankets and padding have added to his comfort zone. Rico is very friendly and playful with people and the other greyhounds. He truly enjoys human contact and affection.

Training is going well with this guy. He loves treats! Rico is eager to learn and easy to please. Stay tuned for more updates next week.
