Charming Boy

Aries graduated this week and did well with all of his commands.  He is a very well behaved and obedient dog and his trainer had no issues training him.

Aries loves to play and he is the dominant dog while running and playing with other dogs, but he has adapted well and has learned to play in a calmer more organized manner. Yay Aries!

Aries loves to play with toys and gets really excited during playtime, but he calms easily and is very gentle with humans.  He is a very fun and lovable dog and I know he will be a wonderful addition to his new home.

Aries' inmate trainer can't wait for his new family to meet this charming boy.  His extra commands "shake" and "kiss" are his inmate trainers favorite extras.  They are extremely adorable and sure to win anyone over.

Cannot Contain Myself

This week was swap week for me (Aries).  It was a little different for me waking up in another bed, but I got used to it. This attention thing is awesome!  Now I have 2 more guys wanting me to do commands.  I did them all with flying colors.

I get super excited in the morning and evening before I get to eat.  My tummy makes me do it.  I just can't contain myself.  I'm just so hungry that I make a grunting noise.  My trainer gets tickled with me.  He says I sound like a catfish out of water.  Sounds pretty silly, huh?

I can't wait to get to my forever home to meet my new parents.  I hear they are going to spoil me rotten.  I have been dreaming of this day for so long and it's almost here.  I'm so excited!

Sharing Is Cool

Hi Ya!  Aries here trying out this blog thing.  Lately I've been on a greyt toy discovery.  I didn't realize these things could be so much fun!  My inmate trainer has been teaching me that toy playtime with other Greys is a fun thing.  I'm beginning to understand and do not feel quite so possessive.  Sharing is pretty cool, but I'm a little worried they're not going to give it back, so I'm still working on this whole idea.

I got this training thing down!  I'm like a pro and Im' sure I should get some kind of certificate!  I mean let's be real, you can't be this good without acknowledgement.

My inmate trainer tells me I'll be going to a forever home soon.  I sure hope I get one of those homes like I see on TV... where there are food bowls overflowing with food and a family that gives me lots of attention.  Wonder if I'll get to go in one of those fancy stores where they have all things dogs dream of...

Eager To Please

Aries is an extremely smart dog and training has been going very smooth with him. He knows all of his basic commands but is working to polish them up during the coming weeks.  He knows a list of extras:  "shake", "brave dog", "kiss", "paws up", "leave it" and "give".  He is also doing great staying on his bed for an extended period of time.  That's an easy command for any greyhound!

Aries loves to play with toys he can chase (stuffed ones), but has started playing with other ones this week.  he gets very playful, but still calms easily.

Aries seems to think he's the boss when playing with the other dogs, but he doesn't mind them being near his bed.

He is a very obedient and loving dog that thrives off of human attention.  He is eager to please.  His inmate trainer has thoroughly enjoyed his time with Aries and will be sad to see him leave.

Gettin' It Done

Aries' trainer reports that he is still doing great with training!  This past week, they focused on his basic commands and added a few extras to practice.  He learned "kiss" and "brave dog", which is similar to peek-a-boo.  Aries is treat and praise motivated, making him fun to work with, according to his trainer.  In the coming week, they will continue to build on what Aries has already learned and focus on "bed".  He has improved with going to bed and relaxing when he is told to do so.  Aries trainer also reports that he is eager to learn and continues to impress him everyday! He will no doubt be a blessing to his forever family!!

Totally Impressive

This week Aries and his inmate trainer worked on fine tuning the basics. They focused primarily on “stay,” “bed,” and leash walking skills. Aries’s inmate trainer is very impressed with Aries’s progress is proud of the outstanding job he is doing! Aries also learned to walk on stairs this week. He was a bit hesitant at first, but once he got the hang of it he didn’t have any problems ascending or descending!

Aries responds well to his name and has great recall in the big yard after he’s finished running. In the upcoming week Aries’ inmate trainer plans to add a few more extras into the daily routine. Aries already knows “leave it,” “shake,” and “give.”  He plans to work on “jump” a bit more as Aries is a little hesitant about it.  He says that Aries is starting to open up a little more and his wonderful personality is shining through. Aries loves to play and chase things and loves rope toys.  His inmate trainer is looking forward to the coming week with Aries.

Working Towards Perfection

Aries is doing well with all of the basic commands.  He and his inmate trainer are working towards proficient responses for each command.  This week they focused on the “stay” and “sit” commands.  Aries is progressing very well, but needs a little more work staying from standing and sitting positions.  He will stay on his bed, but would rather be up exploring. They also worked on the “jump” command and Aries followed through although a bit reluctantly.

just resting . . .

This coming week Aries’s inmate trainer plans to work on “stay,” “bed,” “jump” and to continue working on leash walking.  Aries has made great progress in just a month and his inmate trainer knows that Aries will have everything perfected very soon.

Training Fun

After three weeks of training, Aries has shown a lot of improvement.  This week, his training focused on "sit", "heel", and "stay".  They have also been working on walking on leash.  Aries inmate trainer says that he is doing very well and that he is very easy to train.

Aries is beginning to really come out of his shell.  He is enjoying playing with toys, still preferring plush toys.  He likes to pick them up, shake them, toss them around, and chase them.  His inmate trainer says that Aries enjoys play, but doesn't get overly excited.

This coming week, they will focus on fine tuning the basic commands.  Aries is very obedient and loves to please his trainers.  He is treat and praise oriented, making training easier for everyone.  His trainer says that he is a very sweet dog and he is really enjoying their time together.

Smart and Lovable

Aries is making great progress! He continues to impress his trainers with how smart he is.  He has begun to play with toys more frequently, favoring small plush toys.  While Aries gets enthusiastic during play, his trainers say that he calms easily..

Aries is responding well to the "bed" command.  This week they are focusing on "down", "here",  "heel", and "wait".  He is very eager to please is inmate trainers and loves affection. He also does well with teeth brushing and other grooming.

In the coming week they will be working on "sit" and "stay". It is so exciting to see how he is progressing every week.

Week One

Week one in the books and Aries, as we've named him, is adjusting well to his new surroundings.  He is very quite, timid and a little shy, but he thoroughly enjoys the attention.  He is doing well with his leash training and learning his name.  He's even getting the hang of a few of his commands, like "here", "hurry", and "bed".

Toys are a new concept to him, but he has a great time with the kibble ball.  He bats it around using his nose and paws to get the goodies out. Looks like Aries is one smart cookie.  He sure loves his treats! This beautiful boy is eager to learn, and will be shining bright in no time.
