Swap Week. No Problem.

Swap week was a piece of cake for Duke.  It didn't bother him a bit adjusting to the slight change in his routine or having someone else give him commands.  His trainer for swap week said he didn't have to change much of anything to get him to respond to him.  Duke just goes with the flow.

He's a gentle giant that enjoys meeting people and receiving praise and affection.  He will fit in to any size household, large or small.

Playful Sweetheart

Duke is nearing the end of his time with his trainer and his trainer says that he will be greatly missed. He is one of the most loving dogs that his trainer has ever been around. As much as Duke likes treats, he is so eager to please and really lives for praise and attention. His training is going great and his trainer wants to get all of the play time he can with him before Duke goes to his forever home. His trainer hopes you enjoy his personality as much as he has!

Are You Ready For Duke?

What a Greyt week with Duke!  He now bows all the time in anticipation of getting a treat for it.  Silly boy!  A guy can try can't he?

Duke is getting used to doing commands for different people, so he is going to start taking commands from the secondary and alternate trainer.  This way he should have no problems doing them for anyone.

Next week is swap week and Duke's trainer already misses his sweet boy.  I hope you are ready for a big, lazy and loving greyhound, because Duke is ready for you!!!

Lap Dog?!

It was a fun week with Duke. He had a play date with Riley for the first time and they had a blast. Duke has no problem with another dog in his bed space. He will give up a toy with no fuss and go find another one to play with. He's a lover not a fighter. LOL! His trainer says he is the biggest baby there out of this group of greyhounds, and he will literally try and climb in your lap when you are petting him. He's one, big lap dog!

Duke knows all of his basic commands very well and is working on bow and belly. He's a sweet all around good boy and his trainer sure will miss him when he goes to his forever home. They are one lucky family.

Love Bug

Duke has had another good week, especially with his commands! He was struggling a little with "wait" during testing, but since then he's been great. He's also been spending more time just lounging around on the bed with his trainer while watching TV and just enjoying the day. That's when this big love bug has been getting LOADS of attention, which he can never get enough of! He's made so many improvements and is getting used to walking on the polished concrete floors.

The more time his trainer spends with Duke, the more confident he is that he'll make an amazing pet - he's so obedient, willing to please, and most of all just wants affection and loving!

Everybody's Friend!

Duke is doing very well with his training and is working on jump this week. He loves his time playing in the big yard but so far he prefers to trot around rather than run, and he loves to play with whoever he encounters. Duke likes toys but gets tired of playing with them after about 5 minutes. His favorite thing in the world is being petted and loved on. He has such a great personality and his trainer knows that he will be lots of fun for whoever gets to take him home.

Social Butterfly

Another week of training is under Duke's belt and he is doing great!  He is a wonderful greyhound with an awesome personality.  He is confident and loving, and likes nothing more than to be petted and loved on.  Throw in a little playtime and he's one happy boy.

Duke knows hurry, let's go, kennel, release, wait, heel, here. sit, down, stay and bed.  His trainer will work to make sure Duke knows all of these very well.  He does not show any aggression towards any of the other dogs and wants to play with everyone he meets.  He's such a sweet social boy and will be a great addition to any family.  I wonder what's on the agenda for Duke next week...

Body of a Dog, Heart of a Puppy

Duke has made lots of progress! As he gets more comfortable in his new environment, his personality comes out more and more. He is such a playful dog and does not act like a 4 year old dog - more like an 80-pound puppy! He wants to play with every person and dog that he comes into contact with and sometimes gets distracted by everything around him.

He loves attention and is learning his commands and expected behaviors very quickly. His trainer says he's certain they're going to have so much fun over the next eight weeks, and then he's off to his forever home to have a decadent amount of fun and give you lots of lovies.

Greyhound Hugs Are The Best!

Duke is off to a good start to retirement.  He was a little unsure of his new surroundings, but is getting more comfortable every day.  He is a good looking boy that lives up to his race name “Handsome Devil”.  He is also a calm and confident greyhound and doesn’t mind showing his loving side by resting his head on his trainer’s shoulder.  Doggie hugs for everyone.

Duke and his trainer just started working on his commands and so far so good.  They had their first play time with toys and Duke knew exactly what to do with them.  He was squeaking and tossing them around, having a grand old time.  He’s going to be lots of fun.  Stay tuned to see what’s in store for Duke in the coming week.
