Like Clockwork

Randal’s daily activities are like clockwork. He knows when it is time to eat. He starts pacing and sometimes will speak….asking “Where’s dinner?” When he goes outside he hurries and is ready to play with the other dogs. Inside the dorm Randal walks around checking things out. He visits all the rooms and each dog, then he will go back upstairs to his kennel to lay down and watch everything.

He likes to “Shake” if he sees something he wants, he will offer you his paw. Randal is a sweet dog and has his own personality. He knows all of his basic commands both verbally and by using hand signals. Other than “Shake” some of his extra commands are “Bang Bang,” “Kiss,” “Spin” and “Show Me Love.”

Randal is a wonderful boy! It has been such a pleasure to help in his training.

Randal on Watch

Randal’s trainers affectionately refer to him as “the neighborhood watch”, because he’s always walking around checking everything out. When he gets tired of being on patrol, he likes to lay in his kennel and watch everything happening. His trainer always makes sure to fold over his kennel cover so Randal’s view isn’t blocked. He is always so focused sometimes he gets a little startled when something surprises him, but he always bounces right back.

Randal gets most of his exercise playing chase with his sister, Austin. The two of them will run and run until they’ve completely worn themselves out, which is good because they’re too fast to catch. LOL

Practically Perfect

Randal is a friendly, loving dog. He is very treat motivated, so he loves running through all his commands and tricks. Wait until you see this guy playing - he is such a huge goofball!

Randal’s favorite treats are bananas and peppermint. He also loves running around outside, playing with sticks or toys, or just hanging out inside watching everything going on. He is still uncomfortable around the prison guards, with all of their noisy gear, but he is great with all of the other people he encounters.

He’s a good eater who never barks and doesn’t have any separation anxiety. The only thing he received a negative evaluation on this week was getting his teeth brushed - he’s not a fan. He’s practically perfect in every other regard.

Very Attentive Fellow

Randal is a little unsure of things at times, but it is so wonderful to see how much he has come out of his shell over the past couple weeks. He can actually be a really playful dog. He loves to chew on anything hard. He did have a teething toy, but he let another pup use it. LOL

Randal is a goofy dog when he is playing. It is too cute. He is still not a fan of the uniformed officers but his trainers are almost certain the noisy keys that are the culprit. One of the officers put their keys away and Randal allowed her to get close enough and even let her touch him before walking away. It is a sure step in the right direction.

Randal is very attentive and is always watching. He loves being on the second floor, looking down watching everyone and everything. He absolutely loves peppermint!

Randal knows all of his basic commands very well, along with several extras. He is a little slow to respond to “Spin,” but will get it soon.

Amazing Progress

Randal and his trainers want to say “Happy Mother’s Day!” He is doing great with all of his basic and extra commands. He can now do his commands in the day room with no issues. He has been wanting to hang out in the day room more than he used to, which his trainer finds amazing.

He is really coming out of his shell. He still gets scared from time to time but he always comes back out to explore and socialize. His trainer is definitely loving how much he has changed from when he first came. He is still iffy when it comes to the uniformed officers but he has started getting close enough to at least smell them. That is progress.

Randal loves running first thing in the morning during his 7:30 potty break. After his run he trots around and plays with the other dogs. He enjoys his evening play dates with Lilly and Tiny.

A Real Gem

Randal knows all of his basic commands very well. His trainer is trying to have him perform them somewhere other than the training room. He will do some, but not all of them so she will continue working with him. Randal has also learned extra commands as well. He can do “Kiss,” “Shake,” “Show Me Love” and “Bang Bang.”

Randal is wonderful when meeting new people and he loves attention from anyone. He’s not a fan when the correctional officers come around with their noisy keys and radios. He’d rather be somewhere else.

Everyone loves Randal’s coat, it is so soft, but they love his eyes the most. They are not dark brown like most dogs. His eyes are a honey brown color. They almost look like they are glowing. Randal is really coming out of his shell and his personality is starting to blossom. He’s such a sweet boy.

Goofy Guy

Randal is a sweet, playful boy that truly wants to please his human, which shows in his training. He’s doing great with all his basic commands and has learned some extras already.

Randal is a little unsure of the prison guards, with all of their noisy equipment and keys, but he loves everyone else and goes straight up to them for love and attention. He is a goofy guy who loves running with the other dogs and playing with tennis balls.

Lady's Man

Randal has come out of his shell so much since he first arrived at Pulaski. His trainer originally thought he may need some extra attention and encouragement during training due to his shyness, but he is such a people-pleaser that training has been a breeze. He will do whatever you want to please you. He knows all of his basic commands, and his trainers are just working on refining the execution of some of them. Way to go Randal!

Randal has made quite a few lady friends in the past three weeks. He still loves to play with his sister Austin, but also spends a lot of time with Raven and Julie. The trainers all call Julie his girlfriend because of how often he goes to check on her throughout the day. They all had fun together at Stella's birthday this week, and got to eat a doggy cake and play.

Randal Is a very loving boy and loves to be loved on. He loves neck scratches and belly rubs. You will love Randal!

Enjoys His Daily Play Date

The name game is going well. Randal can finally do the stairs with ease. He is starting to take an interest in toys. He likes roaming around the dorm first thing in the morning, but when things start getting loud, his kennel is his safe place to hang out.

Randal does have his daily play date with his half-sister Austin. She brings the best out in Randal. He is starting to be more playful with her.

As far as his training, he is doing okay. He knows “Down,” “Heel,” “Wait,” “Release” and more. His trainer feels that he will be coming out of his shell soon and they can’t wait to see what this little man will be like.

Randal continues to love being around people only because he knows they will love on him, plus he is the favorite; being the only boy, it is his advantage. He is finally feeling comfortable around his trainers that he will roach while sleeping. Check back next week for more updates on Randal.

Ladies' Man

Randal is slowly, but surely getting settled into his new environment. It’s a big change from track life. He’s a shy guy, but is very curious of everything and willing to explore by himself.

It took Randal a few days to figure out the foam mat they had for him was something he could lay on, but with a little redirection and encouragement he now realizes it is his bed. Randal is doing well going downstairs, going up is where he has more of a problem but he seems to be getting better with each training session.

Since day one, the trainers have been working with Randal learning his name, “Leave It,” “Wait,” “Release,” “Bed,” “Stairs,” “Let’s Go,” and “Here.” They are slowly starting to introduce new items to him such a toys and his blanket. He’s not too sure about the blanket, but he loves his new pillow.

Randal does like to be loved on but is a little shy of new people, but is willing to let anyone walk up too him and pet him. He is treat motivated, so training should go well with Randal.

He doesn’t mind being in his kennel but likes to come out and go exploring. He is definitely a ladies man! Everyone just loves him and can’t wait to see his wonderful personality blossom.
