Lettie is ready to go home!  All her basic commands are perfect.  Though a little cautious when taking the stairs, she does know how to do them. She walks well on leash and if she does pull, you just say 'easy' and she moves back to your pace.  She does great socially and easily becomes attached and loyal.  As long as she has a few minutes a day to run herself tired, she's great.  She loves to play with brightly colored balls, though they need to be sturdy, because she gives them a good chewing over!  Lovable Lettie will make a great addition to her forever family.

Lettie loves everyone, and everyone loves Lettie!  She does try the alternate handlers sometimes. She was with alternates this past week and while she was in the classroom with them and they weren't paying her close enough attention, she quietly chewed through her leash!  Lettie enjoys being out of her kennel, and running off leash out on the field is her favorite thing. She loves to chase colorful squeaky toys and play catch.

Lettie loves off leash time. She enjoys running with another greyhound or simply playing by herself. When playing and running with the other hounds and some of them get rowdy, she will just go in the other direction. She enjoys her walks and sometimes she and her handler jog a few laps. Her training continues well and she is always willing to learn, except for her stubbornness about shaking! She gets along great with people. Lettie will make a great family pet.

Lettie's handler ran a fever for a time with the flu this past week and this sweet little hound stayed by her side and licked her face to try to cool her down. Too cute!  All Lettie's commands are great. The only thing she won't yet do is shake paws. She's cautious with stairs but can do them. This girl loves to run after balls, squeaky toys and anything you throw for her. She is getting more comfortable with the CCI lab puppies; there are one or two she gets excited to see.

Lettie’s learning her commands well. Sit/stay needs work and she still hasn’t figured out shake, but all her other commands are right on target. She is also doing OK on stairs, though a little slowly. This past week Lettie’s handler had the flu for a few days but is better again. While she was in bed, alternate trainers took Lettie outside for walks, fresh air and play time. This sweet hound stayed otherwise right by her handler’s bedside and even licked her face the day she had a high fever. Her handler couldn’t believe how in tune Lettie was with how she was feeling. She had never licked her face before.

Lettie will make a wonderful family pet. She's fabulous with staff, inmates and other dogs. She does get a little vocal when she wants something but corrects easily. This girl will play off leash with a ball until you make her stop. She loves to go, go, go! She's doing better on stairs, both up and down. Lettie hasn't yet learned shake, but her basic commands are now perfect with reward training. She's practicing without treats now and is already at about 70%.

Lettie loves everybody. She gets along fine with other dogs and is good about being approached when eating. Playing off leash is her favorite time of the day. She'll jump around and toss a ball or toy up in the air. She loves to run after bright toys. She's extremely fast! Training her is great. She's eager to please and loves to perform. All basic commands are done at 80% accuracy. Once she has learned shake, her handler is going to work on some extras with her. Lettie will make an amazing addition to any family.

Lettie went off leash for a few minutes on Sunday and she absolutely loved it. This little girl is fast and likes to run in circles and chase bright toys. She gets plenty of exercise. Her training is going excellently. Sit, down, down/stay, here, bed, wait, heel and easy are all wonderful. They're working on stairs with her. Lettie has a sweet temperament and is extremely lovable. She's playful but easy to calm and would be a good pet with anyone. She still needs work on walking and her handler gives lots of practice and correction. She responds to ease or heel if she gets ahead of you.

Lettie (Go TA) loves people. She's a bit shy but warms easily to anyone. She's doing fine with the other greyhounds and though she's still curious about the other breeds and jumps a little when she sees little dogs, her handler notes that it appears to be in a playful manner, with no barking or growling. Lettie gets plenty of walk time. Her handler is still working on her leash walking. Her favorite toy is a squeaky blue monkey, which she throws up in the air and plays with. She isn't toy aggressive and lets you grab it and play with it with her. Her training is going great. She learned to sit within 24 hours. She's smart as a whip. She already has the understanding of bed and down and she does a beautiful wait at the doorway.

First Impressions - 10/06/13

Go TA is a shy little girl if you approach her too quickly, but within minutes she will come to you. She's just feeling out her new environment during this initial period of sensory overload. She sleeps all night without whining. Though shy, she calms easily and lays down with you. This girl is not fond of walking and is in a slightly pull and drag mode. Her handler hasn't "found her mojo" yet but is working on it! Go TA likes to get wet in the kiddie pool after her walks. She's learning wait at the doors, even though the formal training doesn't start for the first few days. She does like to put her front paws up on everything, but when corrected, she listens. She's a sweet girl.
