The Best Boy

Carson has shown that even with change, he can adjust. He has been doing wonderful and working hard again. He just started playing with toys on a regular basis. He does not like any loud toys. He is curious about everything, but explores with caution. Carson gets along great with all the other dogs. He is not an alpha dog, as he would rather walk away, than cause problems. He’s such a sweet boy!

Carson is very fond of his kennel and will lay in it over a bed sometimes. Carson doesn’t have the best table manners and can make a total mess when he eats, but he’s still greatness in the end and his trainer loves him.

Enjoying Every Minute

Carson seems to have adjusted to his inmate trainer, but seems to have a little selective hearing until the treats arrive.  He’s very treat motivated and happy to work on commands, as soon as he sees the treat bag.  His inmate trainer says that she plans to work with him on breaking the treat dependency.

This week maintenance staff had to fix a broken window near his kennel and he wasn’t afraid of any of the noises from the power tools.  Actually, he was very interested in the work taking place!  A supervisor in the making! LOL His inmate trainer says that it’s hard to believe that their time is coming to a close, but she’s enjoyed every minute with this sweet guy!

Forever Family, Here I Come!

Carson is a great dog and has an awesome personality. He loves his human. They have been working on all his commands this week. He loves his treats and will do all his commands for one. Carson does have a bit of a stubborn streak when it comes to sitting without his bed, but his trainer is working with him on that. Carson is a sweet boy and will fit in perfectly at his forever home. Only a few more weeks.

"Show Me Love"

Carson knows all his commands, but is a little slow responding to “heel”. He knows it, but likes to do it on his time. He knows quite a list of extra commands too. He knows bang bang, shake, which hand, say your prayers, kiss, show me love and spin.

Carson has become a bit of a picky eater. He will eat as long as his trainer is sitting beside him, but if you walk off, he won’t eat. His trainer has been working with him on this and he’s getting better. Carson is a very sweet boy and loves his human.

Ice, Ice, Carson

Carson is a very eager learner and very treat motivated. This week he has learned “stay” and “say your prayers.” He is also working on “heel.” He is doing very well with all of his commands. Carson loves to just sit out on a big pillow and sleep. When he’s in his kennel he enjoys his fan.

Carson loves to play with the other dogs and seems to get along with all of them. Ice is a favorite treat of Carson. He will eat it out of the water bowl when he comes in from outside, or really anytime. He will nose dive into the ice bowl. He’s a silly boy and his trainer loves to have him around.

Coming Out

Carson is really coming out of his shell. He loves to have ice in his bowl of water so he can nose dive in and eat all the ice he wants. He and his inmate trainer have been working on stay and here this week as well as peek-a-boo where he covers his face.

He is very treat motivated and he loves his food. When he knows its time to eat, he will go to his kennel and wait with the door open until you are done making his food. Then, he’s ready to make a big mess!

His inmate trainer is enjoying her time with Carson. He’s a great pup!!

Eager To Learn

Carson loves to eat and can be messy.  He gets crumbs everywhere, but he will clean up his mess like a little vacuum cleaner.  He’s eager to learn and doesn’t think the treat rewards are too shabby either.  Carson takes his time warming up to new people, but once he does it’s the best feeling ever! His inmate trainer says that she’s enjoying working with this amazing boy.

Lap Dog

Carson is a very loving and smart boy.  He and his inmate trainer have been working on sit, down, shake, wait, release and bed.  He’s food motivated which helps with training.  He can be a little nosey which makes him want to explore everything.  He absolutely loves to be loved on.  If his inmate trainer is sitting on the floor he’ll climb in her lap for some attention.

Food Is A Motivator

Carson is a smart boy and eager to learn. Food is a very big motivator, so training should be easy. Carson has already learned a few commands. He hasn’t shown much interest in toys yet.

Carson is starting to open up and show more of his personality. He loves to be loved on by his human and hang out on his bed. Check back next week to see what Carson has been doing while in training.
