Absolute Blessing

Hello and welcome to Debbie’s final blog! This last Thursday was final testing for all the pups here at the Second Chance Greyhounds program. During final testing, another trainer runs through all the basic commands – and her trainer is thrilled to announced that Debbie passed with flying colors! She made so much progress in her 10 weeks there and her presence was an absolute blessing. It was an honor and privilege for her trainer to work with Debbie. A reminder for her new forever family – this girl loves to eat! And she gets super excited when it’s dinner time. Her trainer is very proud of all the accomplishments she has made throughout the program, and hopes you are as proud of her as he is!

Anything for a Treat!

This past week was swap week, so one lucky trainer got the chance to meet and get to know little Debbie. She is a gorgeous brindle dog with crystal clear hazel eyes. She is so smart and her primary trainer has taught her very well, even throwing in some cool extra commands! She is so sweet and loving and enjoys lying around on the beds in the day room. She likes to roll on her back, prompting passersby to rub her belly – what a cute lil scheme! Debbie is very treat-motivated, so if her new forever family wants to teach her new tricks, there’s your path to success: right through the belly. And how lucky will her forever family be to have this sweet gal around!

Ready To Meet You

Another Great week has come and gone, which means Debbie is closer to meeting you, her forever family. Debbie is doing very well.  She knows her basic commands and a bunch of extras (Shake, bow, kiss, paws up, brush your hair, play dead). This girl learns fast and runs faster.  I know Debbie will be happy to get to her forever home and you will be happier to meet her.  It won’t be long now.

Give Me A "Kiss"

24 days and Debbie comes home!  She’s learned some super cool extra commands!  She can now “shake” when she greets people.  When she gets ready to go out on the town she can brush her hair. She can even give you “kiss” to show her love and affection or for a treat.

She told her inmate trainer that she needed to learn to play dead just in case she’s ever told to clean her room.  She’s currently learning how to “spin”.  Her inmate trainer says he’s having a blast with this sweet girl and you can’t help but have fun with her.

Crazy Over Peanut Butter

Debbie is one smart cookie! She loves treats especially yummy chewy ones.  Oh, and if the treats have peanut butter then you’ve just scored a few extra points!

At Show and Tell Debbie got all 10’s on her commands.  Her inmate trainer says that she loves to lay beside you and watch TV.  She loves to be petted on and shown affection.  He says once you get to know Debbie you’ll fall head over heels in love.

She's Got it Going On

Here we are at the half way point of Debbie’s training. Her inmate trainer is here to tell you that Debbie is the smartest, most easy going and fun greyhound he has ever had the pleasure of training. It’s never a dull moment and he always looks forward to spending time with her. She’s a sweetheart and has stolen her trainer’s heart.

Debbie’s inviting but strong personality is always focused on moving forward and completing the next step. She is quick on picking up anything new you throw her way. She knows all her basic commands with verbal cues and hand signals and has learned a few extras (“give”, “shake” and “kiss”). Her trainer is not looking forward to the end of this session with Debbie, but is happy to know she has a wonderful forever family patiently waiting for her on graduation day. You are going to love Debbie! She is the best!

Smarty Pants

Boy O’ Boy, do I have some news for you. Are you ready?? Okay. I am proud to say that I now know all of my basic commands, with the exception of “jump”, which we are working on right now, as we speak. I have no problems picking up new things, so I will probably know “jump” by the time I finish writing this letter.

I am having so much fun working with my trainer and learning my commands at lightning speed, that he said I will probably learn some extras.. How cool is that? More commands = more treats and I’m all for that! They are yummy to my tummy.

I got to run in the yard for the first time since arriving at the SCG Academy and let me tell you, I run like the wind. I love to feel the wind on my fur. it’s my favorite past time. I can’t wait until the day comes that I can run right into your arms and shower you with love and affection!

Debbie Is Gonna Rock Your World!

Debbie’s inmate trainer says that he’s been waiting all week to update everyone on how wonderful Debbie is! She’s recently learned to sit and it only took three training sessions!  She’s so good at sitting she shows off just so you can admire her mad skills.   And maybe how elegant she looks…

Debbie’s trainer says that she works hard at everything she does.   He believes that she’s going to rock retirement!

Delightful Companion

Dear forever family,

I wanted to write a few lines to further update you on my progress and to tell you a little more about myself. I’m excelling in my training program. Not to mention my personal trainer thinks that I am the smartest one of the bunch. I have to agree with him on that. So far this week I have learned “stay”, “bed”, ”hurry”, “kennel”, “let’s go”, “release” and “here” . I’m also getting real good at this leash walking. I stay right by my trainers side, no matter how slow or fast he is walking. I love learning new things. My trainer likes to throw in a yummy treat for a job well done. He will sometimes rub my ears for doing such a good job. It feels so good. I just shut my eyes and almost fall asleep standing up. I love to be pampered and loved on. But don’t you worry. I’m saving my special love just for you!

Introducing: Darling Debbie!

Dear future forever family,

Just wanted to let you know that I have safely made it to training school. Upon arrival, I must admit that I really wasn't sure about this place. When I first got here, I got a bath, ears cleaned, nails trimmed. It was a slow start, but now a lot has started happening and every day is a new experience, so I am definitely starting to warm up to being here. I am learning a lot! My trainer is very kind and doesn't mind showing me things several times so that I fully grasp and understand each step. He is patient and takes his time, and we never train for long periods of time. That way, my training sessions stay fun. He tells me over and over that I am very smart and how fast I pick up on my commands. I work really hard because I want to learn as much as possible, so when I get home to you I can make you proud. I love special treats and I love affection even more. Well, I will tell you more about myself next week when I write again.

Bark at you later!

Sincerely,

Debbie
