Friendly And Loving

It’s the final week and Otto is doing great!  He seems to really enjoy doing the “bang” command.  His inmate trainer suspects it’s because the floor is cool and he gets to lay down.

Otto’s inmate trainer says that Otto is a wonderful boy.  He’s friendly and loving.  When he first arrived he was a little shy.  He says it’s been amazing being a part of Otto’s transformation.  He is going to miss this sweet boy dearly and hopes his new family loves him as much as he does!

Master "Roacher"

Otto’s swap week training team said it was a pleasure having him for the week.  He is roughly the same size as Milo, but Otto is a bit more energetic.  He loves to play with toys at the drop of a hat.  He enjoys his runs as well, but he gets more excited for toys.  When he’s not playing, training or running, Otto is a marathon napper.  He is a master “roacher”, with his tongue hanging out and not a care in the world.  For those of you who don’t know, the “roach” position is when they maneuver themselves onto their backs to relax.  It’s a sight to see, if you can catch them in the act.  This position usually indicates a hound has reached a maximum comfort level.

Otto knows all his basic commands and should have no problem doing them for anyone. Otto’s swap week trainer said he was a blast and he could definitely see him blending into a family’s life quite well

Graduation Is Around The Corner

As of week eight Otto has adjusted well and continues to learn commands.  He’s learned some fun commands such as “bang” which involves laying down.  His inmate training team continues to run through his basic commands to keep them fresh and to reinforce good habits.

Otto’s inmate trainer says that Otto is truly s super sweet boy!  He’s playful and surprisingly full of energy when it comes to a yellow tennis ball.  His inmate trainer believes that Otto is going to make a great addition to some lucky family.

Silly Boy

Otto is having a blast this week working on his extra commands. His trainer is surprised at how quickly he has learned them. He knows kiss, shake, high-five, spin and bang. Bang is by far his favorite because he gets to flop over on the ground and just lay there. LOL

Now that Otto has done so well with all of his basic commands, he has been able to spend more time relaxing and playing, which are his two favorite things to do. He has such a cool, laid back personality, but he gets very excited when it’s playtime. He can leap in the air and spin to catch a toy as it passes him. It’s amazing to see!

Otto loves getting his head petted. If you stop he will paw at you or try and get in your lap. He has tried to climb in his trainer’s lap on several occasions . Silly boy. You’re a little too big for that!

One SWEET Boy!

Otto’s inmate trainer says that Otto is a delight to work with and is progressing nicely though all of his commands.  Otto has adjusted well to the dorm and enjoys playtime in the small yard.

Otto is a loveable boy who keeps his inmate trainer smiling with his comic qualities.  When he naps he wakes up with his tongue hanging out the side of his mouth.  His inmate trainer says that you can’t help but laugh a little over his goofy relaxed state.

Otto knows all of his commands with verbal cues and knows many of them with hand signal cues as well!  His inmate trainer says that he’s looking forward to the days ahead with this sweet boy!

Bring Out The Tennis Balls

Since Otto knows all of his commands already, his inmate training team has been working to keep his skills sharp and focusing on more technical stuff.  They run through commands every day.

Otto loves toys especially tennis balls. He’s very laid back and relaxed most of the time.  He’ll liven up when it’s time to play.  His inmate training team work with him on toy etiquette so that he’s well-mannered by waiting patiently for his toy to be thrown.  He’s also made great progress with sharing toys.  The plan now is to start working on extra commands like kiss, shake and spin.

What? I'm Sitting?!

Hey everyone. It’s Otto here! I decided to give my trainer a break from writing this week, since he’s been so busy training ME! I learned something new this week. Wait for it…..”Sit”. I looked back and saw my butt on the ground. It kind of freaked me out, but I looked at my trainer and he was smiling and throwing me treats, so I stayed like that until he “released” me.

My trainer has been teaching me a lot of cool things, but one thing I don’t like, is when he makes me share my toys. I’ve been doing better though, because I can see how happy it makes him. I like to make my people happy. That way I get lots of treats, and I’m all for them!

Do I look like a wrinkle head? My trainer calls me that. I don’t think it’s nice to make fun of my wrinkles. He’s going to have to work on his manners!

Loving and Affectionate

Otto has had a fun and exciting week!  He’s really started to open up and show some excitement while training.  He’s been progressing very well picking up on things with ease.  His inmate trainer introduced sit yesterday and Otto is already doing it on command!

This week Otto has spent some time playing in the yard and basketball with everyone.  He even tries to dribble the ball!  His inmate trainer says that Otto is great at defense and trying to keep from advancing to the goal!

Otto has a great personality!  He’s loving and affectionate.  He wants to be by you at all times.  One the flip side, he has an independent side and likes to hang out on his own from time to time.  Otto’s inmate trainer says that he’s having a great time working with this sweet boy!

Learning The Ropes

Otto has made great progress this week!  Otto is the kind of guy that prefers to be out and about.  He’ll go into his kennel when requested, but he looks at you with those soulful eyes clearly working you over in an effort to convince you to open the door.  His inmate trainer says it’s hard to resist those eyes, not to mention Otto is such a joy to have around that a person might come close to giving in.  Otto likes to hang out on the bed and chill while his trainer is watching TV. Never fear though, Otto is learning the ropes and picking up on his command really well.

Otto finds training fun when his inmate trainer makes it upbeat and fun.  He can have a little shy side, but his inmate trainer believes this will pass as he gets used to this new place.

So far the main training goal has been focus.  You see, Otto is very nosy… errr, interested in what everyone else is doing.  He’s figured out that if he focuses on his trainer he gets a yummy reward.

Otto loves to play with balls!  His inmate trainer says that he wouldn’t be surprised if Otto started trying to play basketball with the other inmates!

Observant Boy

It’s only been a couple of days, but Otto has adjusted to his new environment very well. He has explored the dorm and didn’t seem bothered or overly interested in anything. He loves going outside, enjoying the fresh outdoors. He will go do his business and then stand in the grass watching everyone, soaking it all in. He’s an observant boy.

His trainer has been working on “kennel” and his name, so he has been getting lots of treats. Otto has a slim face with the cutest puppy dog eyes that he uses to get head scratches. He thoroughly enjoyed his bath on arrival. He laid down in the shower and didn’t want to get back up. I think it’s safe to say he loves water.
