Special Guy

Ray is doing great! He made all 10s on his final training test!  His inmate trainer says he’s really going to miss seeing Ray everyday.  He says that Ray is smart, loving and just an all around great dog.

Ray loves to play with the other dogs and to play catch with his toys and treats, but most of all he wants to be petted and loved on.  He’ll nudge your hand with his nose to let you know he wants you to scratch his head. Ray’s inmate trainer says that he has no doubt that Ray’s new family will find it easy to fall in love with this special guy!

Heading Straight To You

Ray’s alternate inmate trainer says that he’s just completed Swap Week with Ray.  Swap Week is when the inmate trainers swap dogs to see how the dogs do taking commands from new people and to see how they do away from their primary trainers.

He says that Ray is one of the most calm dogs he’s ever worked with.  He said that Ray is sweet and loving and he enjoyed spending time with him this week.

Ray did really well on all of his commands and having Ray around was like being on vacation!

A "Ray" Of Sunshine

This week Ray’s alternate handler worked with him on his commands and he did greyt!  During feeding times, Ray’s his trainers make him sit and wait for his food.  He loves to eat, so this one was a struggle to begin with.  But now Ray knows what’s expected of him, so he patiently waits until released to eat.

Ray is a gentle, loving and laid-back boy.  He does like to turn it up a notch when out on the yard running with the other dogs, which he thoroughly enjoys.  Get ready to have some fun with Ray.

Greyt Hound

What a smart boy! Ray has mastered all his basic commands required by Second Chance Greyhounds. He does them well without treats too. Maybe an extra or two are in the works. Time will tell…

Ray is a gentle, loving greyhound with a calm demeanor. He enjoys running with the other pups and playing with his squeaky toys. He doesn’t mind lounging around with his inmate trainer in the day room. He’s an all around great hound! His trainer knows his forever family is waiting and counting down the days when Ray is officially theirs. It won’t be long now.

Seeker Of Love

I am happy to report that Ray is doing wonderful! This week at show and tell, he scored all 10’s!! Greyt boy Ray! I know you got lots of treats for doing an awesome job.

Ray has become one of the dorm favorites. He seeks out love and attention from everyone that walks his way. Don’t stop petting him or you will feel a cold, wet nose nudging your hand for more. Ray is like, “Hey man. Keep on scratching.”

Ray enjoys running with the other greyhounds and playing catch. He’ll catch a toy, drop it and wait on you to throw it again. His trainer is blessed to have Ray in his life and he knows you will be too!

Happy Helicopter Tail

Ray had a great week! He is coming along with his commands wonderfully. Being so treat-motivated certainly helps! He seems to have fun performing for people and his tail is always in motion. He loves attention and being petted, and with his calm nature and loving persona, he makes for one great dog. He is a very intelligent and gentle animal, and his trainer knows he is going to do great with his new forever family! Ray’s leash-walking skills are great. In fact, he’ll walk with you off a leash! (This is done inside the prison or outside in the small fenced in yard). It shows what an obedient hound he is. His trainer is thrilled with his progress so far in the program and can’t wait to see how much further he comes next week!

A Nudge Of The Nose

Another week of progress for Ray, with both his learning skills and socialization amongst inmates and staff. He really enjoys attention and being petted. In fact, when you stop petting him, he will give you a subtle nudge with his nose, telling you to keep the loving coming. Ok Ray. Another scratch behind your ear, just for the cuteness!!

Ray is a happy dog. His tail always seems to be moving. His training is right on track. He’s very treat motivated and doesn’t mind just plain Jane kibble for a job well done. I know you are going to love Ray!

Laidback Guy

Ray is acclimating very well to his new environment. He's doing well with his commands, and it helps that he is so treat motivated. He walks on a leash well. He’s not a fan of the shiny floors, but if you take it slow, he has very little trouble with it. Ray is learning to sit on command but his sit muscles are going to need building up before it's perfected. His other commands, such as heel, stay, bed, wait, here and kennel, are the ones that he is doing very well with so far. His trainer has not yet introduced him to toys but Ray does enjoy lounging around in the dorm with the trainers watching TV in the evenings. He really likes people and attention!

A "Ray" Of Sunshine

Ray has spent his first week getting to know his inmate trainer.  His inmate trainer says that so far Ray has been a calm and gentle boy. He’s not too sure about the shiny floors.  He’s learning to stay on his pad and not his nails to keep from slipping.  Give him time and he will be a pro on the floors.

They’ve slowly started working on commands and Ray has taken to “kennel” really well.  He’s starting to understand “heel”.   “Wait” and “bed” are works in progress.  Ray’s inmate trainer says that he’s looking forward to working with Ray and can’t wait to watch him grown and learn.
