Along For The Ride

Swap week with Yoda went well. His swap week trainer said he is a great greyhound. He is so calm and laid back. He just goes along for the ride. He is extremely smart and stubborn at times. Yoda knows exactly what he should be doing, but can be slow to comply. However, when he gets on the dog field and able to let loose and run, it’s a beautiful sight. He is so graceful when running. He enjoys his runs as much as he does his naps.

"Yo, Yoda!"

Yoda has had a great week! He has come to the realization that he can sleep comfortably on his mat in his kennel, but boy is he happy to be downstairs on the big pillows. His personality continues to come out and his trainers are seeing a big goofball. Yoda keeps them laughing.

Yoda is still not a fan of the command “jump”. His trainers are working with him to show him how much fun it can be. He’s just not seeing it. LOL Yoda knows all the other basic commands with verbal and hand signal cues. He also knows quite a few extras.

Yoda Can "Catch"

Yoda has been playful this week!  His inmate trainer has been using the extra bursts of energy to work on commands and play with toys.  He’s added two new commands to his lineup:  watch me and catch. He can run through his commands quickly and with no hesitation, so don’t let him trick you with his little stubborn streak.  His inmate trainer says that it’s been a blessing watching Yoda grown and learn. She’s looking forward to what he figures out next!

I've Got My Eyes On You

Yoda has had a pretty easy week. He has been a little lazy this week, but it’s partially due to all the rainy weather. He has worked through it and learned a few extra commands. His trainer is very proud of him. Yoda watches his trainer’s every move. He will “stay” when asked and does fine in his kennel when his trainer is away for a bit.

Yoda has started to play with toys a bit more. He enjoys a fun game of tug-of-war. Yoda’s trainer is enjoying what time she has left with him. She is looking forward to what else he can accomplish.

"Stair Master"

At “show and tail” this week, Yoda accomplished all his commands without hesitation. His trainer was so proud of him. They are making progress with his stubborn streak and laziness during training. He has the “want to learn” attitude and you can see it in his training. He knows all his basic commands and a bunch of extras.

Avenger is now a master of the stairs. He was not a fan of them when he first arrived. His trainer can point and say “stairs” and Yoda with go up them with no problem.

Pro At The "Bed Fail"

Yoda has made so much progress in his stubborn antics. He is doing his basic commands without all of the hesitation. He is still everyone’s big cuddle bug. He thinks he’s a lap dog. Yoda loves the big pillow beds, but with every stretch he slides off. He will not re-adjust until he is all the way off the bed. It’s quite comical to watch.

Yoda had the time of his life playing with the other dogs. he also picked up a toy and played with it for more than a few seconds. Training is going very well. He knows most of his basic commands and some extras already. His trainer said he is a complete joy and she is looking forward to seeing more progress as the week’s continue.

Making Progress

Yoda has been working on Sit and Bed this week.  He’s making progress, but would much rather sleep.  He loves treats and food, but will turn away from food when he realizes he needs to complete a task for it.  They’ve been working on stairs this week and he doesn’t mind going down them, but he’s not so interested in the trip up the stairs.  His inmate trainer says that they’ll figure out a way to make it so much fun that he can’t resist following through.

His trainer says that every morning Yoda wants to greet everyone.  He loves attention!  He’s not too big on toys right now.  He’ll sniff and nudge them a little and then walk way.  He does have a little monkey toy that he will do a few spins with, then he’ll lay it on the bed next to him.

Loving Guy

Yoda has learned his name quickly and responds when addressed.  His inmate trainer says that he seems like a very relaxed and loving guy.  He’s not had any issues with stairs and they seem to get easier for him every day.  He’s very treat motivated which has helped a great deal with training.  He’s figured Release, Wait and Heel out pretty quickly.  His inmate trainer says that she’s looking forward to the coming days with this sweet boy.
