Bruno's A Catch

Bruno continues to do well with his training. His trainer goes through his basic commands and his long list of extras every day. He knows a total of 25 commands. Wow! That’s quite an accomplishment. His trainer said he is a very smart boy and it shows.

She is not looking forward to the day he leaves Pulaski, but she’s very happy knowing he has a loving family waiting for him when he graduates. Bruno is quite the catch!

Bruno's Brilliant

Bruno is doing great!  He’s eager to please his inmate trainer.  His trainer says that if you have a treat in your hand, you’ve got Bruno’s full attention! When walking around the dorm room Bruno always stops to say HI to everyone.  He loves to go to the training room because he associates it with treats!  His inmate trainer says there’s no doubt that Bruno’s brilliant!  She says she truly enjoys spending time with this sweet guy.

Off Racing

Bruno had a good week with his trainer. His eagerness to please is continuing to grow over time. He wants to share a bed with his fellow greyhounds, but when his trainer redirects him to a different bed, he just looks at her like she’s lost her mind. LOL

Bruno enjoys playing out on the dog field. When he wants another dog to run with him, he will nudge them in the neck with his muzzle, then they are off racing! Bruno is an awesome dog and his new family is so blessed to be adopting him.

Blanket Lover

Bruno’s inmate trainer says that they’ve had a challenging week, but Bruno has worked through each one and conquered them in the end!  Bruno can now climb the stairs!  He does well with “stay” but needs work on holding the command a little longer.  He’s treat motivated and loves dehydrated chicken.  He has a favorite blanket covered with peace signs and paw prints.  His inmate trainer says it matches his pink pillow.  He’s been known to carry his blanket around with him.  She says it’s entirely too cute!

Smart & Handsome

Bruno has continued to improve on his commands this week. When it comes to the command “stay”, his trainer said he is starting to figure out what is expected of him. Then there are other times he acts like he’s never heard the word. LOL

Bruno does extremely well at the “show and tell” sessions. He gets very excited when it’s his turn and does every single command given to him! He’s quite the show off and such a smart boy. He has eight extra commands he has learned so far.

"Show Me Love"

This has been a great week for Brunto. He is able to do almost all of his basic commands without hesitation and he can say the same about several extra commands as well. Bruno has quite the list of extras. (Room, paws up, spin, bounce, shake, say your prayers, show me love, kiss, crawl, watch me and give). He’s a very smart boy.

Bruno loves affection, so when his trainer and he are out on the dog field he always winds up trying to lead her to the fence where they will see the most people who want to pet him and pat his head. This boy definitely knows how to work a crowd.

Each Day Is An Adventure

Bruno’s inmate trainer says that he’s such a joy to be around.  He’s learning at an amazing pace and gains more confidence every day.  She says he keeps her smiling! He likes to stand with his front legs crossed!  He loves treats… errr… training.  She admits that he might be working on training his humans a long the way.  He’s learned to negotiate for the “good” treats.  He’ll do some of his commands for plain kibble, but the advanced commands require a little extra incentive.  His inmate trainer said that each day is an adventure with Bruno!

Bunny Hop

Bruno is so goofy and so much fun to be around. He does enjoy running, but when he’s out on the dog field just hopping and jumping around like a bunny rabbit for the fun of it, you can’t help but laugh at him.

Bruno knows most of his basic commands, with verbal and hand signal cues. His trainers continue to perfect these commands and incorporate some fun extra commands as well. He’s learning show me love and kiss.

Toy Lover

Bruno has had a really good first week in the program!  He seems to be adjusting a little more every day.  At first he refused to go near the day beds in the day area, but now they have to do some heavy convincing to get him off of one!

He loves toys, but will shred a stuffed animal in seconds.  They’ve removed the plush toys and replaced them with more sturdy toys.  He still manages to mangle them but at least it takes a little longer.

A New Adventure

Bruno’s inmate trainer says she’s so excited to be working with Bruno!  He’s responding well to his name.  He’s discovered toys already and believes that chewing them up is the best.  They’ve decided to only allow him to play with the tough/more sturdy toys.  He doesn’t seem disappointed by this decision.

They’re working on leash skills and plan to add on a few commands as they progress.  At this point, they’re just getting to know each other and his inmate trainer wants to make sure he’s having fun and enjoying his new adventure!
