Here Comes Max!

Max has had an awesome week!  He scored all 10's on his final exam.  Yay Max!!  He has also been quite playful the past few days.  Could it be he senses he's headed to his forever home and family?  You are going to love this sweet, loving, gentle boy.  He will make a greyt addition to your family.  His trainer is going to miss him dearly.  Get ready for some Max lovin!

Laid Back and Loving Boy

It was swap week this week and another trainer got to spend time with Max.  He said Max is a very laid back and calm boy... unless of course you have a toy.  Max then turns into a big playful puppy!

Max is a great leash walker and he does all of his commands like a champ.  He loves the big yard and plays well with the other dogs.  He is looking forward to meeting his big sister.  Max is super loving and will make a greyt addition to your family.  It's almost graduation day!

Sweet Beyond Belief

Hey Max fans! Everything is Awesome here with Max. He and his trainer got up in front of the second chance ladies and Max did all of his commands with his secondary trainer on the first try. He was just fantastic! He is a very sweet dog and loves to play with his toys, and he loves to run on the big yard. He is just wonderful. He will be so missed when he goes to his forever home!

Ready To Fall In Love?

It's been another great week for Max.  He continues to gain confidence every day and is no longer timid in large groups of people.  He even does all of his commands on the 1st try.  He's a greyt boy!  His trainer loves him so much.

Max has the cutest facial expressions that makes you wonder what he is thinking.  Well, maybe we don't want to know.  LOL  Max loves playing with toys and flipping them up in the air and catching them over and over again.  He gives them up whenever asked and doesn't mind sharing with the other dogs.  He is going to be a greyt big brother.

Nose Kisses In The Morning

Hey dog lovers, especially Max the greyhound dog lovers out there!  I'm taking over the blog duties this week.  I must say, my trainer has done a pretty good job with me.  When I first arrived at the prison, I was afraid of everything.  Now I roam the dorm, play with toys everywhere, socialize with all the other dogs and people.  I even do my commands in front of the entire dorm!  I had a little stage fright.  My trainer has showed me a lot, and I mean a lot of patience and perseverance to get me where I am today.  He's my buddy.  I reward him with nose kisses and mini head butts every morning.  It always makes him smile and laugh.

This week I get to start on some fun commands.  As long as he keeps rewarding me with yummy treats and some squeaky toy time, I'll try my best to learn a few more tricks.:)  I hear the girls dig a greyhound with a few cool tricks up his sleeve.

I sure will miss my trainer when I leave to go to my forever home.  I hear a have one already waiting for me.  I can't wait!!!...  BTW, he keeps warning me about my "baby sister" and how she's going to wear me out.  I wonder what he means by that....

                                                                          Max

Lovin' on Everyone

It's been a very progressive week for Max. He has mastered the sit and down commands and has also started to learn stay. He is very comfortable doing jump and walking up and down the stairs. He has become a lot more confident in public, and he now approaches other inmates for affection. He eats in their day room, and does his commands while others are watching. He still gets startled from loud noises and wants to head to his kennel, but he is spending more time outside of his kennel and comfort zone during the busy times of the day and he seems to be getting used to all that goes on around him. Max has such a great personality and it's great to see it emerge and grow every day. He will be such a loving and friendly fixture in his forever home!

Sweet-Natured Boy

Good day Max fans!  it's been a great week for this handsome, young man.  He absolutely loves squeaky toys!  He is very gentle with them and gives them up every time he is asked.  He is sooooo close to sitting on his own.  I bet next week he will be.

Stair training started this week.  Max was the only dog to go up and down every time without any difficulty or coaching.  Way to go Max!!

He is still not very treat motivated, but he does eat them occasionally in his kennel.  His trainer thinks he's self-conscious about people watching him.  He eats very slow and takes dainty bites when he eats.  LOL!  Hey, he doesn't want to lose that masculine figure.

Max knows let's go, kennel, heel, bed, leave it and give very well.  He needs to improve on the other basic commands, but no worries.  There's plenty of time for improvement.   See you next week.

Gentle and Playful

Well it's week two with Max and he's come a long way already. He is really opening up to his surroundings. He spends a lot of time exploring the dorm with his trainer and meeting other people and dogs. He loves to run on the big yard and always comes back to his trainer when he's done. He has started playing with toys and wrestling with one of the other dogs here but he is very gentle with both considering his muscular build. He has already mastered let's go, heel, bed, and kennel. He likes to take his time eating and always leaves about 5 or 6 pieces of kibble in the bowl. He loves affection and shows no aggression at all.

A New World For Max

Max is a very gentle and obedient greyhound that was a little intimidated with the prison environment, but is already showing marked improvement.  There is so much activity there, and It is very noisy with all the radios, keys rattling and people coming and going.  Who wouldn't feel intimidated.

Max was quite the champ getting his bath, nails trimmed and ears cleaned.  He's a sweet boy that loves his kennel and needs some encouragement to leave it,  but his trainer is sure he will start coming out of his shell and be the fun-loving greyhound he knows lingers inside of him.  More about Max next week...
