Handsome Boy!

Thor has had a great final week!  He has all his commands down pat. He gets a little excited at treat time so he’s learning “easy” so that he’ll be a little more gentle.  He eats really fast so a slow feeder bowl or a ball in his bowl will help slow him down a bit.  His inmate trainer says that Thor is a great boy!  She’s sure he’s going to make some very lucky family extremely happy.

Nosy Side

Thor has had a wonderful week!  They continue to work on his commands and he’s doing great!  His inmate trainer says he does the cutest moonwalk ever.  The local cat came around this week to taunt Thor a little.  Despite Thor’s obvious need to make contact with the cat. The cat put on quite the show walking around in circles and rolling around in the grass and refusing to move on as if it was showing Thor it was untouchable.

Thor got a new bed for his kennel and he loves it! It’s really thick and he lays on it like royalty, as he people watches.  Thor has a nosy side.  When they’re out for a potty break he gets completely wrapped up in watching other people, birds and everything else, that he forgets to go to the bathroom.  His inmate trainer says she reminds him to do his business before having him come back inside.

"Second Chance Celebrity!"

Thor’s inmate trainer says that Thor is soooo sweet!  He just wants love all the time and will take time out of any activity for some loves.  His inmate trainer says that other inmates around the compound have heard about Thor and come to visit him on his potty breaks and playtimes.  Some even call him the “Second Chance Celebrity”!

A couple of the other dogs got into a vocal argument and Thor stood there unfazed waiting for his treat like the wonderful little boy he is.  His inmate trainer said she was so proud of him!

Wanna Play?

This week Thor enjoyed even more love and attention than normal. Some of the inmates from the mental health dorm came to visit the pups. Everyone had a fun time and they got to see how loving and gentle the greyhounds are.

Thor loves playing outside and when he wants another dog to play with him, he runs in circles around them, while barking. He is focal when running and playing, so his trainers are working on that.

Training is still going very well. He’s mastered his basic commands and is working on his extras. They practice them all every day and he’s pretty much mastered his extras as well. Thor is a good boy!

Non-Stop Tail Wagging

Well it’s happened, Thor has become spoiled rotten.  Since the weather has gotten warmer Thor has taken to laying in front of the fan to cool off after playing.  He even has his own personal fan for the ideal nap time.  He has 3 pillows inside his kennel so that he’s nice and comfy.  When humans pass him they find that they absolutely must pause to give him some loves.  If they don’t stop, he’s confused wondering what’s wrong them.

He doesn’t talk very often inside, but out side he plays and talks to everyone that will listen.  He’s gentle and easygoing inside, but outside he’s more outgoing.  His tail is wagging and he’s having the time of his life. Thor’s inmate trainer says she’s having a blast with this sweet guy!

Expressive Eyes

Thor actually barked for the first time since he’s been in training. He and his trainer were outside trying to get a little play time in before a rain storm. Thor was bouncing around trying to get another dogs attention, and he barked loud and deep - two times.

Training is going good. He went thru a stubborn streak this past week, but he’s back on track with his basics and he’s learning quite a few extras. He is learning room, water, shake, spin, give, paws up and leave it. His trainer said Thor’s eyes are so expressive and he looks exactly how he feels. He’s got a funny personality and his trainers love him.

What A Ham!

Thor had a great playtime yesterday…. They had a huge “doggy-palooza” on the hall and all the dogs came out and played with each other. His trainer said it was fun to see them all interact and bounce around. Training is going great! Thor knows all his basic commands with both verbal and hand signals. He’s a smart boy!

Socially, this boy is a ham! Thor acts as though he’s never had any attention, ever, as he’s flitting back and forth between his “next victim”. LOL Thor is most definitely a lover and not a fighter.

Gentle Giant

Thor has had a great week! He is doing wonderful with his commands. He is slowly coming around and has started playing with a toy here and there. His trainer said he must be the strong and silent type, because he hasn’t made a single sound yet. No barking or whining, just the occasional grunt when he’s laying down or sleeping.

Thor is an amazingly gentle giant. He is not aggressive in an way. Even while playing and running out on the dog field, he takes it all in stride. His trainer said it’s fun to see him walking on the frost early in the morning. Thor does circles and jumps around like an overgrown bunny. It’s too cute.

Everyone in the housing unit loves Thor. His nickname is “The Golden Boy”, because he’s everyone’s favorite. His trainer said he really is a great greyhound and whoever adopts him is one lucky person.

Fun Times With Thor

Thor is big and beautiful greyhound! His trainer said he is such a great dog so far. He is smart. He has already learned here, bed, let’s go, wait, release, kennel, sit, down and hurry and she can’t wait to see how he progresses over the next nine weeks.

Thor is so lovable and loves attention! Thor isn’t excited about toys, but does love to run and play on the yard. He is such a sweet boy and his trainer knows it’s going to a fun nine weeks with Thor!
