Out of School and into your Heart

Zoey's trainer can't believe that this is the last time he'll get to write about Miss Zoey. He's really going to miss her. She has been a joy to train and get to know and passed her graduation test without any trouble. And she continues to have no trouble going up and down stairs. Like he said in the past couple of posts, Zoey has really picked up on playing with toys and now loves pretty much all squeaky toys. She is so much fun to play with and will chase a toy around like a little deer and then pounce on it. She is super gentle while playing, and she gives the toy up with no fuss. Her trainer knows that her new family will love her just as much as he has. She is truly a great dog!

Goes With The Flow

This week was swap week and her trainer said it was a joy caring for Miss Zoey.  She responded well to her alternate trainer when doing her commands and she did a wonderful job adjusting to the slight change in her routine.  He had no problems with her whatsoever.

Zoey enjoys a brief play time with squeaky and chewy toys.  She is a fairly calm and curious hound, that seems to just go with the flow of things.  She's a sweetie and oh so cute!  Roxie will warm your heart in no time.

"Paws Up"

Zoey and her trainer have been having a lot of fun this week.  She has mastered all of her basic commands, so she's getting extra playing time.  Zoey loves playing with certain toys, so after every training session, she is rewarded with play time!  She enjoys throwing the toy in the air and chasing after its.  Sometimes it will fly over her head and she won't see where it lands.  It's funny to see the look of confusion wondering where the toy went.  It's even funnier the look of surprise when she discovers the toy is right behind her.  Silly girl!

Not only is Zoey getting more play time this week, but her trainers are also working on a couple extras.  She is a pro at "shake".  Her favorite new command is "paws up".  Her trainer can't believe she will be leaving in only a couple of weeks.  Zoey has been a joy to train and he knows she'll make her forever family very happy.  Look out world, here comes Zoey!

Toys and Treats

Zoey has really come out of her shell even more this week. She now enjoys a play session after every training session. Her favorite toy is a pink squeaky elephant. Her cute little eyes light up when she sees her trainer get it out of her locker because then she knows it's time to play. She hasn't shown any signs of toy aggression although she does get a little possessive of her bed when another female tries to share. This is a recent discovery, so her trainer has started working on it immediately.

She has completely mastered all of her basic commands and he has started on some new extras to add to shake, bow. Give it is her newest extra. Give it can be used to get a toy or food bowl from Zoey. Her trainer loves to show off how cute and smart Lil Zoe is. She is such a great dog and her trainer is really going to miss her when she leaves. He knows her new family will enjoy her as much as he has!

Look Into My Puppy Dog Eyes...

IMG_2053.JPG

Hi.  It's me, Zoey.  The cute and adorable girl!  I thought I'd give you a dog's eye view of how things are going for me here at the SCG compound.  Well, first off, I know all of my commands.  I love making my humans happy and they seem to give me what I want (treats and neck scratches) when I sit, stay, down, heel, wait.  These are just a few that I know.  I am also learning a new command.  It's shake.  I lift my paw for a proper human introduction.  I think I will be a greyt meet-and-greet girl, don't you?

Toys are so cool!  All I have to do is "sit" or "down" and I get one to play with.  I am also good at "giving" the toy up when asked.  Where have these squeaky things been all my life?!  Only four more weeks and I get to go to my forever home.  I can't wait!!

Lovable Beyond Belief

Well, another fun and productive week has come and gone. Once again Zoey and her trainer have been working hard to be sure that she has mastered her basic commands. He is very happy to report that Zoey has caught on but not yet mastered all of the commands. She is a little slow on down and wait, but he's very confident that she'll have those commands mastered by next week.

He introduced Zoey to the jump command a few days ago and she picked it up in only a few short minutes. They also had the chance to work on stair training again and she still has no problems with stairs. Her trainer recently got the chance to see some photos of Zoey from the website and he says, let me tell you, Zoey is cute in the photos, but she is super adorable in real life. She melts his heart every time she gives him the sweet puppy dog eyes. So whoever is lucky enough to adopt Zoey, get ready to fall in love!

Neck Scratches Please

It's been four weeks since lil' Zoey arrived at the prison and her trainer has been enjoying every minute with her!  She is such a sweet little greyhound that loves to be scratched under her neck.  Zoey says that is to die for.  She also doesn't mind hearing how cute she is.  LOL

Zoey loves running and playing with the other greyhounds on the big yard.  Her ears perk up when she realizes where they are headed.  Even though she gets excited about going outside, she's super low energy inside and doesn't really play much.  She is starting to show some interest in toys.

Zoey's commands are progressing really well.  She is doing sit, down, heel, and bed pretty much on the first request.  Stair training is also going as planned.  No problems there.  She is picking up on things quickly.  Check back next week for more updates on Zoey.

Love Bug

This has been a great week with little Zoey. She actually showed a little interest in a toy a few days ago. She was in the training room with her trainer and two giant guardian Greyhounds, Atlas and Petey. One of them dropped a squeaky toy and she picked it up. After she shook it around for a few minutes, it was back to trying to get love from people. She really loves attention and to be loved on. She hasn't shown any signs of bed, toy, or food aggression. She and her trainer have been working on the commands that she knows as well as a leash walking. She does really well with here and heel. She has also picked up on sit and bed very quickly. Check back next week for more updates on cute Miss Zoey!

Cutie Patootie!

Another week has passed and Zoey's trainer is really enjoying getting to know this cute little greyhound.  She has the biggest puppy dog eyes that will melt your heart and she knows how to use them too!

Zoey has shown little interest in toys and doesn't mind laying around getting loved on.  Her trainer heard she might become a therapy dog and he thinks that fits her perfectly.

Zoey is doing really well with training.  She is learning "heel", "bed", and "sit".  Next week her trainer will work on "down" and stair training.  Tune in next week for more updates on the world's cutest greyhound!

Already Making Friends

Well it's the start of yet another 10-week session here at Second Chance Greyhounds Academy. This session, one of our trainers received an adorable little red fawn girl with the race name of DC Smoken Hot Ta, now named Zoey. Now when we say that Zoey is adorable, we mean super, super adorable. And on top of being adorable, she is super sweet. She really loves it when people rub behind her ears. She hasn't shown much interest in toys yet, but she does love to be around the other Greyhounds. She made two friends today named Atlas and Pete. Both are large red males. When they came into the training room, her eyes lit up with joy. Her trainer has started her on a couple of basic commands but is taking it slow for the first week. They've been doing a lot of leash walking, and at first she tried to pull ahead and go whatever direction her trainer is not going! But after a few leash walking sessions, she learned that he is in the driver's seat. He is so looking forward to training and getting to know Zoey over the next 10 weeks, so tune in for the next episode of That's So Zoey!
