Way To Go Sampson!

One more week before Sampson leaves training and goes to his forever home!  He’s dreaming of dog toys, comfy beds, treats, and play time with his human! His inmate trainer says that he’s going to miss spending time with this sweet boy.  He’s sure that Sampson’s forever family will not have any problems falling in love with Sampson’s sweet face!

No doubt that Sampson will WOW his new family with all his commands!  He knows most all of his commands with verbal and hand signal cues! Break out the treats and prepare to watch Sampson go!

Ready for that couch!

This week Samson mastered the elusive down command and now knows ALL of his commands! He is ready for that graduation cap. He did a great job when Miss Patti came to visit and strutted his stuff for everyone at show and tell. He is such a wonderful dog who is going to make a superb best friend and spectacular addition to someone's family. He will be missed so much when he's gone, but that's where you come in! Imagine all the fun you'll have showing off this handsome, smart guy when you walk him around town. Infinite joy for everyone!

Snag this guy!

Dear Forever Family,

Samson is so fun to be around and is seriously the sweetest greyhound ever! Everyone who meets him falls in love with him and fawns over him instantly. He will make a big impact in your family's street crowd when you strut him around town. He knows all of his commands and is such a quick learner. He is going to bring so much joy to your family's lives and the lives of everyone he meets! Get him before it's too late!

Forever Family Sounds Sweet!

Hellooooo people!!!   It's me Samson.  I'm really starting to settle in to my new home away from home here at Jenkins.  The guys aren't so bad either.  You know the ones that call themselves my "trainers".  They call it training me, but I get yummy treats every time I do something they ask of me.  So who's training who is the question...

I've finally started opening up to everyone and letting them see just how lovable I can be.    I am  also a bit of a goofball at times. I like to see people laugh.   I know all of my commands, which makes me pretty smart too.

I hear I will be leaving this place behind and heading for my forever home and family soon.  That sounds pretty sweet!  New comfy beds.  New toys.  A brother or sister maybe.  I hear most humans are good at dishing out the treats.  All I have to do is show them my cute face and my puppy dog eyes and I will have them eating out of my hand, I mean paw.  Oh,  and I like to give hugs.  I will lay my head on your shoulder while you give me loving.  Forever family here I come!!

It's Crunch Time!

Samson here!  This whole learning experience is phenomenal! Did you know they give treats here?  I mean, I’m like eating all the time!  I have this inmate trainer who is so good at giving treats so I don’t mind following through with things for him.

So, I’ve been told I’ll be getting this forever home thing.  It sounds pretty interesting… humans to love me, feed me, and play with me!  I’m a little excited about it!

Picture Perfect Pup

Dear Future Forever Family,

Samson has been doing so well with his commands! Miss Patti came down this weekend and got to see all the hounds do show and tell to see how well they've learned their commands in the first four weeks. She said that Samson did great for his first time in front of her, and afterward he wanted all the attention he could get - this guy LOVES to love on you and get loved on more than anything in the world. Then afterward, he and all the other greyhounds and trainers went to the yard and walked around and took pictures. So be sure to check back on our Picture Gallery for the update! You'll be glad you did - this sure is a picture perfect class of pups.

Head over Heels

Dear Future Forever Family,

Samson has improved on "wait" and his leash walking, so he has begun working on stay! He is so smart and such a fast learner. He loves to be loved on and have all the attention he can get. Just look at that smiling face - who wouldn't go head over heels for this handsome, sweet, smart guy? He brings so much laughter and joy to everyone around him and he's bound to do the same for you. Samson is a top notch greyhound - won't you give him a shot?

Sincerely,

#TeamSamson

In Training. And Loving It.

Hey it's Samson here!  Guess what?  I learned some new things this week.  Like how to "wait" at the door and walk calmly with a leash on.  And some other things they call commands.  It's cool.  I actually like to learn new stuff.  Who would have figured.  I know.  I know. Last week I wasn't the happiest of greyhounds coming to this place called prison, but I'm getting used to it and I like it.  I know it's not going to be as much fun as my forever home will be, but I'm making the best of my time here.  Plus I'm learning a lot of neat stuff that I can show off to my new forever family when I get there.  At least I hope there's a family waiting for me outside of these gates.  Is it YOU??

Early Retirement

Dear adopters,

Samson (AKA Crunch) here. Well, today was WEIRD. I was told I was retiring, and I was like why? I'm only 2! I've never even had much of a chance to race. I know why - they don't want me to race because I would win everything they had.

Well, after they gave me the news of my imminent retirement, they put me in this truck with some of my friends and took us to a place where I got a bath, had my ears cleaned, and nails trimmed. After that, this man started calling me Samson. I was unsure at first what it meant until he told me that it means that I'm strong (and I DO have a beautiful coat...), so yes, I think I can go along with that. But now I'm trying to figure out why they lied to me! I thought I was retiring so I could lay around all day, go to the lake, find a girlfriend, buy a nice house on a farm... you know, old people stuff! Well, now I guess that's not gonna happen until 10 weeks from now. In the meantime, I'll learn why I'm here.  10 weeks won't kill me - but dang it, I want my retirement! My trainer mentioned something to me about going to a loving home in a few months... that's what I'm counting on.  Don't let me down forever family.
