Star Student

Cali is such a sweet, greyt, and outgoing dog. She loves training and being around people. She's so quick to do her commands that you can do them many times over in a single session! Cali is very treat-motivated and smart; she could probably learn calculus if she put her mind to it. She is going to make such a greyt companion for anyone. When she is out of her kennel, she likes to run around like she owns the place - and sometimes she really does own the place. She is so wonderful. Her trainers hate to see her go, but are so excited for her to get a lifetime of love from her new forever home.

No Such Thing as a Stranger

Cali had her final testing and she passed! She was very hyper and excited but stayed calm for her primary and secondary trainers. After all, she has her diploma on the line (and here comes summer break)!

She's responded very well to a secondary trainer issuing most of her commands and taking her on her bathroom breaks, and frequently has a brand new person do commands and potty breaks to prepare her for her new home - yours! Next week is swap week, so she's with a new trainer for a whole week.

One thing to know about Cali is that the word "stranger" is not in her lexicon. There is absolutely no such thing as a stranger to this sweet gal. She loves everyone and is going to love you. She has been such a joy to work with and everyone is going to miss her, but not as much as they're excited for you to fall in love with her as her new forever family.

Awesome Pup!

Cali is an outgoing pup and knows no strangers. She knows all of her commands and will do them for everyone she comes across. Cali has learned a couple extra commands:  "paws up" and "kiss".  Greyhound kisses are the best. Get ready for a smooch on the cheek from sweet Cali.

Cali loves toys and loves to play. She adores squeaky toys to the max! When playtime is over, Cali sometimes doesn't want to give up her toy, so swap it out with something of equal or higher reward to her, such as her favorite treat.

Next week is swap week and her primary trainer thinks she will do great.  She's a sweet girl and her trainer is going to miss her dearly when she graduates.  He is glad she is going to a good home where she will be loved on and able to run and play.  Cali is an awesome pup!

Love Cali To Pieces

This week Cali has overcome the problem of heeling. She now "heels" when you say it. She knows all of her commands with verbal cues and almost all of them with hand signals. Her trainer says she has been a joy to train. He is working on a couple extra commands with Cali. They are "paws up" and "kiss".  She's the greatest!

Cali's trainer is excited for her to have found her forever home. Her new family is in for a treat. She is going to be a great addition. She's such a sweetie. You will love her to pieces!

Gimme the Squeak Toys, and Free My Soul

When her inmate trainer got Cali, her paperwork said she was playful and sweet with very high energy. They were not joking. She can be a real pistol. Cali really loves toys that make noise, they are her favorite. She is also an alpha female. She takes charge and loves to play and she wants everyone to play with her. People or dogs, it makes no difference to her.

Cali really loves to be around people. She does well in her kennel but would much rather be out on a big bed or running around playing with others.

Cali also enjoys being petted. She will lie down very quietly while you pet her for as long as you will pet her, even fall asleep. She is such a joy to be around. And we can't forget she will give you these big pitiful eyes that make you just laugh, and she does these when she wants to come out of her kennel. Her inmate trainer said those eyes just kill him. You can't help to just love her to death. Her inmate trainer hopes that her new forever home knows how lucky they are, because this pup is about to enrich their lives and bring endless love and joy to their home.

She's All That And More...

Cali is improving every week.  She is so smart, full of energy and loves to play.  She always wants to go to the training room and play.  Cali knows where the toys are kept and always looks in that direction and then to her inmate trainer, like "hey dude, are you going to get me one of those toys or not?"  I'm waiting...

Cali knows when they go to the training room it's training first and then toys.  She knows most of her commands well.  She needs improvement on "kennel", "release" and "heel".    When it's time to play with the toys, Cali knows she must "sit" for it.  Sometimes she will sit on her hind legs only, with both paws up in the air and ears straight up at attention.  She will do almost anything for a toy!  Cali enjoys a little down time too.  She likes to relax on one of the big beds.

Cali's trainer is really going to miss her when she goes to her forever home.  He loves all the greyhounds he has trained, but Cali's all that and a bag of chips.  LOL   Enjoy this sweet girl of a Greyhound!!

Toys and Neck Scratches = Heaven

Cali loves to play and bounce around the room. She is really good about trading or giving her inmate trainer her toy for another toy or a treat. Last Friday, she did very well during show and tell testing. Though they still have some things to work on, she is coming along nicely. Her trainer feels very lucky to be her teacher.

This week she has gotten better at "heel" and is learning to stay in all three positions: sitting, standing, and down. Her trainer just started working on "leave it" and she's getting better at it already.

Last week Cali learned how to jump - she's such a goober! She will crawl up for a treat but when a toy gets involved? Watch out! She is ready to party. If you need her to jump into your truck or car, throw a toy in there and she'll hop in, no problem.

Cali is a very loving Greyhound. She loves her neck to be scratched and she loves everyone she meets. Her trainer has asked other trainers to see if she will perform her commands for them and she has done very well. Her trainer is so proud of her! She will make an awesome addition to your family and his only regret is that he wishes she could be an addition to his. Giving her up to her forever family won't be easy, but it will have been a privilege to train this sweet girl.

Sweetest Little Pup

Cali, as her inmate trainer calls her, is just the sweetest little pup ever!  On their first show and tell, Cali did very well.  She "sat", did "down", "bed" and a pretty good "wait" for her trainer.  She was a little slow to respond to "here" and her "heel" is much better than when she first arrived at the prison.  Her trainer is very proud of Cali and her progress so far.

Cali has bonded very fast with her trainer and he's sure she will bond fast with her forever family too.  She's a sweetheart of a Greyhound.

Cali loves to play with toys.  Her trainer will take her to the training room to play and she gets super excited.  He will put a bed at both ends of the room and she will dive on them after a toy. Her trainer will make her "sit", then throw the toy and then Cali is off!  She's very fast!  Cali shows no signs of aggression.  He can pet her, put his hand on the toy in her mouth and take it from her with no problem.

Cali's trainer cannot express enough, how lucky some family is going to be to add her to their forever family.  Don't pass this sweet girl up.

Quick to Learn, Quick to Love

Oh yeah! When you look up sweet in the dictionary, you'll see Miss Cali's picture. This girl is very loving, and she loves her neck to be scratched. Her trainer can tell he's going to have to be very careful with her or else he'll never want to let her go. By day 2 they already had a good bond going. On day 3 she was already sleeping on her back and roaching, which tells him that she's very relaxed.

He's been walking her and introducing her to the commands a little bit at a time and she is responding rather well. He believes that she is going to be a quick learner. Cali picked up the bed command very quickly and her trainer has been slowly testing her and other commands. He thinks that she will be a quick study. She loves to play and she can get turned up, but she calms down very easily and so far has not been aggressive with him when he takes anything from her, like a toy. She's also good when he messes with her food, such as putting his hand in her bowl, picking up the bowl, then handing it to feed her. At first she wanted to jump up and run out of the kennel, but now she will stay down until he puts the leash on or calls her out.

This little lady is going to make some family very happy; he already envies them and it's only day four with her!
