A True Delight

Sophie’s trainer says that she would take 10 Sophies to work with any day.  She is such a delightful dog that brings joy to everyone she comes in contact with.

Sophie’s temperament is very consistent and contended, but she is also always ready to play and always smiling.  Training her has been an amazing experience, and her trainer will always remember the fun they had together.

Best Dog Ever

Sophie’s trainers have just three words to describe her: “Best. Dog. Ever.”  They hope that her new family is going to have a lot of fun playing with her and giving her lots of love!  Her favorite thing is to play with all of the toys and balls in the training room, and just go for it until she is completely exhausted.

Sophie is very food motivated when it comes to training, which has helped her learn all of her basic commands as well as several special tricks.  She loves playing with other dogs, especially running around with them outside and playing tug of war.

A Sweet Clutz

Sophie’s trainers have had a great week with her! She still loves every bit of attention she can get and expects to be tucked in whenever they are lounging. Right now Sophie prefers exploring to doing too much laying around, but she does get tired after a while and decide it’s time for a nap.

Outside Sophie’s trainers describe her as fast, but a little bit of a clutz. Her favorite thing to do is still to play soccer, either alone or with one of her trainers.

Sophie is great at having her nails clipped, ears cleaned, and teeth brushed. She doesn’t enjoy baths, but she doesn’t fight them either. She is very good with all of the inmates, the prison staff, and the other dogs.

Say "I Love You"

Sophie is currently learning how to say “I Love You”. She’s got the idea, but her trainers are working with her on making it sound just a little clearer. If her trainer has something like a toy or treat that Sophie wants, then Sophie will “show me love” and stay that way until she gets what she wants. Other times Sophie can be found walking around the dorm collecting toys to keep in her bed.

“Stay” is a command that Sophie is still working on, because she doesn’t like it when her trainers walk away without her. They’ll give her the command and she will follow right behind them. They are confident that she will have it down by graduation though.

The Princess and the Pink Blanket

Sophie’s trainer would like you to know that she is a sweetheart and she loves what she loves…a pillow and blanket and her bed. At night her trainer will send her to bed and Sophie will just sit there and stare at her (giving her the stink eye) until she puts a pillow under Sophie’s head and covers her up with her favorite pink blanket. Then Sophie will fall quickly asleep.

She is continuing to show off her knowledge of all her commands whenever she thinks there are treats to be had. Sophie’s trainers say she is a gift, and they hope her family is going to enjoy her as much as they do.

Love Pup

Sophie’s trainer says it is precious how lovable and playful she is. She is so eager during training time, she has started doing commands before they’ve been given. It makes her trainers laugh every time, but they are working on getting her to wait until they’ve given her a command.

She loves her toys so much, and they are working on making sure she’s good at sharing for when she joins her forever family. Since she is such a loving dog they have taught her some special commands: “kiss” and “show me love”.

Training for the next World Cup

Sophie has such a funny personality! When she gets out there on the exercise field with her squeaky ball, all it takes is one throw and it’s game-on for doggie soccer. Her trainer says Sophie is just so incredibly lovable and has a gift for lifting her spirits.

She is incredibly treat motivated when it comes to training, which has allowed her trainers to teach her some special extra commands. She almost has “kiss” down pat. When she’s not training she likes to curl up with Raider for snuggles on the pillow beds.

Ready to Play

In the past three weeks Sophie has developed a love of training - every time she and her trainer enter the day room, she runs over to the training room door, hoping it’s time to go in and learn something new! Her tail just wags while she plays training games with her handler. Her favorite is the name game, but the down game and run game are close seconds.

When she’s not training, Sophie LOVES playing with squeaker toys. When she’s out in the yard she will kick and roll her toys around and chase after them as long as she is allowed. At the end of a long day of training and playing, she enjoys being covered up with a blanket and snuggled with.

Please Pet Me!

This week Sophie has started playing with her toys, and saw a ball bounce for the first time.  She didn’t know what to make of it at first, and is still a little suspicious of that thing bouncing all over the place, but overall she’s having loads of fun!

Sophie prefers her bed to her kennel but is working on that command, as well as “sit” and walking on a leash.  She makes all the ladies in the program laugh when she goes around and nudges them all for a scratch behind the ears.  This affectionate lady is going to make a great addition to her forever family.

Silly Spirit

Sophie has adapted quickly to her new surroundings this week and shown her trainer what a smart and playful pup she is.  Her trainer says Sophie has already given her so much happiness with her loving spirit, and she has a silly side that will keep you laughing!

Sophie loves to run around with her new friend Raider and to play with her toys.  She loves going for walks and responds well to the command “easy” to be well behaved on her leash.

Sophie is always on the lookout for an opportunity to earn a treat, and it’s come in very handy with her training.  It only took three tries for her to learn the “bed” command and she has already begun to master climbing stairs (with just a little encouragement from some yummy marshmallows!). This upcoming week Sophie will continue to work on “let’s go”, “release”, “wait”, and “leave it” commands.
