Amazing Boy

Sage’s inmate trainer says that this training session with Sage has been amazing.  He says that he’s watched Sage go from being shy to outgoing and friendly.  It’s always a struggle letting them go at the end of each training session, but it will be even more difficult with Sage since he’s found a place in his trainer’s heart.

Sage bit his tongue while playing with a toy.  He blamed it on the toy, and has refused to play with it anymore.

His inmate trainer says that it’s always fun with Sage and he hope’s Sage’s new forever family loves Sage as much as he does.

Pretty Impressive Guy

Time is just flying by here in the Second Chance Greyhounds dormitory. This is Sage coming to you live and it’s been another great week here and my humans are really coming along well. I’ve been training them for weeks and all my hard work has paid off! From the highest position as a food guy, right down to the lowest as a bathroom guy, my people have learned to respond to my needs as a team. When other dogs watch with envy, I just smile on the inside and say, “Yep, I did that”. I guess I’ve learned along the way too. I get yummy treats for doing what they ask of me. I’ve learned all my basic commands and I can also “shake” and “kiss”. Pretty impressive, if I do say so myself. It won’t be too much longer and I can impress you with how smart I am. See you soon.

PS. What did the greyhound say when he sat on some sandpaper? Rough, Ruff! LOL

Hunky Heart-Stealing Hound

The pups are in the homestretch and Sage is shaping up nicely. He is an amazingly sweet and easy going greyhound who will make an awesome pet and a great addition to his new forever home. His training team has really enjoyed getting to train him, and he has caught on and adapted very well to a brand new environment much faster than you would expect. We hope you're ready for this handsome hunk of a hound to steal your heart!

Simply Irresistible!

Time is flying by! We’ve landed on week six already! Sage wanted to write her own blog this week…

I’m Sage the beautiful retired greyhound.  When you say my name don’t think of the aromatic herb think of The Wise One.  Questioning my wisdom?  Well, let me tell you how I’ve manipulated… er… trained my team of humans.  First thing in the morning my trainer (ha, cause we know I’m the one doin’ the trainin’) takes me out to the potty.  Not trying to be crass or disgusting here, but the dude picks up my waste in a bag to keep my walking area clean.  Then I “sit” and “stay” for a bowl of food – such a push over. I’d have done it for a handful but I’ll take that whole bowl Thank you very much.  I get head scratches, ear rubs, head kisses all throughout the day because I’m simply irresistible.  I get some marshmallows and popcorn throughout the day too.

Like I said, I got these humans trained.  I’m looking forward to seeing what my new family is up for learning!

A Gentleman and a Scholar

It has taken Sage a little bit of time to really settle in. He is slow to adjust completely to his surroundings, but at week 5 he’s already doing great. He is really catching on to the commands, and “sit” is his newest accomplishment. He wasn't sure about this particular command, but he is warming up to it. Sage is just such a good dog, so sweet and laid-back. He does get excited about going outside, but he also likes to relax and lie down on his daybed. He will go from bed to bed if more than one is laid out around the dorm! It's so cute. A well-mannered boy. Sage is going to be a great addition to your family!

Well Behaved Boy

Sage loves the outdoors! He loves potty breaks and big yard run time.  He prances around with his nose in the air taking in all the new scents.  The bounce in his step will certainly bring a smile to your face.

Chasing toys is his game of choice.  He loves to bounce his Kong toy gleefully chasing it around.  His inmate trainer says that his toy etiquette is amazing and that he’s a well-behaved boy in general.  Get ready for him to bounce his way into your heart!

Curious Chap

This has been a week of progress for Sage. He has really bonded with his trainer and his trainer is now able to get so much more done with him. He is the sweetest boy and loves to have his ears scratched. He's also a very curious guy. He loves to explore, even if that means going under something. He will try to crawl under chairs and beds, and his trainer has never seen such an inquisitive dog! It's especially funny because these dogs are so long and tall. Sage loves treats, especially marshmallows and popcorn. His trainer does not think that Sage will have any problems with any of commands throughout the rest of the session and he's progressing so well!

Laid Back Lad

Sage is a very laid back guy.  He doesn’t seem to get too excited about anything.  He is perfectly content to lie on a bed and chill out relaxing the day way.  He enjoys affection.  He’s still coming out of his shell every day.  His inmate trainer says that he’s enjoying watching his personality emerge.

He is quick to figure out the commands so they’ll work on fine-tuning his responses in the days to come. He’s not too crazy about the idea of jumping, but that’ll come.  His inmate trainer says he’s enjoying his time with Sage and is looking forward to seeing what Sage learns next!

Right at Home

Sage is settling in here so nicely. He is such a mild-mannered boy and seems to be very curious and happy – extremely happy, in fact! His trainer has enjoyed getting to know him this first week.

Sage walks on a leash fairly well already, and he has caught on quickly to all of the training so far. His trainer expects that they will have a great time together, and looks forward to training him in the weeks ahead.
