Graduation Day Is Coming!!!!

Graduation is coming!  Ginger’s inmate trainer says that they’ve had a pretty laid back week this week.  He’s just enjoying his time with Ginger before she heads out to her forever home.  He says that she continues to do a great job with her commands and has even learned a few extras!  “Spin” and Peek-A-Boo” are her new tricks!  She picks up on new things very easily!

Ginger’s trainer says that he knows he’s mentioned it before, but Ginger has such an amazing personality it deserves to be mentioned again!  She’s so very loving that you can’t help but be happy when you’re around her.  He says that it’s been an honor to have the opportunity to train this amazing girl and knows that she’s going to make her new family very happy!

World's Biggest Charmer

Ginger did great during swap week! She was with a different training team. From seeing her around the dorm previously, her swap week trainer knew she was great with her commands, friendly as all heck, and very outgoing. Sure enough, she did great for all of swap week! She did great on her basic commands and even her extras, especially "spin," and she showed no signs of separation anxiety.

Ginger was also a blast to watch playing with toys. She is quick to chase the bouncy Kong toys and squeaky ones, but she's also great at giving them back up to her humans when told to. She is such a wonderful girl! Her swap week trainer even joked with her primary that he didn't want to give her back!

Her swap week trainer says he is totally confident that when she bounds through the doors of her forever home to live with her forever family, she will behave perfectly - and more importantly, quickly embed herself deep into their hearts!

Personality Overload

This week Ginger's trainers have been going over her basic commands to make sure they are perfect before going to her forever home in just a few short weeks.  She knows them with verbal and hand signals and didn't mind showing off to the ladies from SCG this past weekend.

Ginger loves to play with toys and so far her favorite is a rubber kong.  She enjoys her play time with the other dogs, and shows no signs of aggression.  She's a super loving girl with a beautiful personality.  Whoever adopts Ginger, has added a great addition to their family.

I'll Stop the World and Melt with You!

Ginger is continuing to do very well with all of her obedience commands. First thing in the morning before day run and feeding time, she has begun to whine a little bit in the kennel. But that's normal, because these hounds just want to get out and play with the people they love. And sometimes they just want to eat a bunch of food! Who doesn't?

Her trainers have begun working with Ginger on two extra commands, peekaboo and spin. She seems to be catching on to both commands fairly quickly and her trainers plan to introduce others to her once she fully grasps these two extras. They've also begun having many different people give Ginger her basic commands to ensure that she is well socialized and will obey commands from anyone. Ginger is still the biggest love bug in Greyhound form that her trainer has ever met, and she just tries to melt into people while receiving affection. She's going to make a family so happy in just 3 weeks!

Smart Little Cookie!

Ginger has been doing excellent this week and we wouldn't expect anything else out of this sweet, smart girl.  She has all of her commands down pat with verbal cues and hand signals.  , Now to work on perfecting them for graduation.

Ginger has recently found a new love... rubber kong toys.  She goes wild chasing them every time one is thrown.  She's quite the cutie to watch!

Ginger's trainer believes whoever is fortunate enough to adopt her will be adding a happy and super adorable pooch to their family.

Sweet As Honey

Hello everyone!  It’s Ginger!  My inmate trainer told me I had to write my own blog this week.  Can you believe that?!!  He says he’s been doing it all this time and I should start pulling my weight.  I think he may have confused me with a husky.   Ummmm, Hellloooo!  nap time!  I’m not so sure my human trainer understands how important rest and relaxation are to my beauty.  I put a lot of work into eating those treats… uh, I mean training.  I mean it’s hard to stay in one place when he’s 30 ft. away with MY TREAT, and not to mention all the other humans gathered around to show me attention.

Now, don’t get me wrong I understand that this training gig is important and I intend to eat… uh learn all I can while here.  You should know that I’ve learned that training a human isn’t so hard.  I do a little something then BAM I get a treat.  Who knew humans were so easy!

Cute And Adorable To The Max

Ginger is still doing very well this week.  She has pretty much mastered all her basic commands.  Her trainers figured they would have to work on "jump" a number of times with Ginger, but it turns out that after helping her out with the first one, she willingly jumped without any assistance whatsoever.  Yippee Ginger!  Now to keep practicing all her basic commands to perfection.

Over the next couple of week's her trainers are going to start working on a couple of extras.  Ginger's personality and her adorable attempts to fold herself into you while being petted, they decided on "peek-a-boo".  A tailor-made command just for Ginger.

Ginger's trainer says Ginger is absolutely 100% undeniably, cute and adorable beyond measure.  He says it every week and said he will continue to say it about this sweet greyhound.   He knows her forever family is going to fall head over heels for this girl!

Give this goofball some attention, stat!

Ginger is continuing to shine. She absolutely loves attention, people, attention, being petted, and attention. Did I mention attention? She has the cutest quirk - while she is being pet, she will try and fold herself into the person loving on her. It is absolutely adorable. With Ginger's training regimen, she is progressing steadily. She has a firm grasp on the majority of her basic commands. Stay and jump are the last two commands that she has yet to fully understand, but even with that being said, she still does them more often than not when commanded to. Overall, Ginger is one of the biggest goofballs and lovers her trainer has ever met, and she is going to make a family extremely happy in another 7 weeks.  I bet you can't wait!

"Bed"? Absolutely!

Ginger is continuing to do well this week. Her trainer has introduced her to the sit and down commands, as well as working diligently on "heel." Ginger took a little bit of a spill earlier in the week on the smooth concrete floors (she's totally fine), and once she realized that the shiny floors are NOT made of lava, she's much less intimidated by them. She seems to be pretty much over her trepidation surrounding the smooth, shiny floors, with the exception of trying to execute the "heel" command on them. She will still do a heel, don't get me wrong... it's just that it's very... very... s...l...o...w. But it's slow to the point of being comical, so there's a silver lining.

Ginger is highly motivatd by treats and she loves all food, from kibble to biscuits, to beef tips, she doesn't discriminate. Ginger enjoys playing with toys, but isn't necessarily motivated by them. As far as training goes, food will continue to be her trainer's main source of motivation for her. She is doing great on the "bed" command - big surprise, a greyhound likes to go to bed! All it takes is one command to get her to lay down on her bed, and 90% of the time, she'll be down for the count after she executes that command.

Next week, Ginger will be working on sit and down. She tends to side-saddle on the down command, which is super common and all of the trainers know how to shape that into perfection. All in all, Ginger is doing great and she is an incredibly sweet dog!

You Go Girl!

Ginger is an incredibly sweet, loving, and not to mention playful little girl.  She is catching on to the initial steps to obedience training very quickly.  Ginger already lays "down" in the kennel before she comes out and is doing well with leash walking.

Ginger is doing wonderful so far, especially given the fact that she has only been at the prison for a few days!  Her trainer feels that Ginger will be executing all of her basic commands perfectly in no time at all.  You go Girl!

Check in next week for the adventures of Ginger...
