Getting Ready To Head Home

It’s time for Daisy’s last update!  Graduation is right around the corner and she’ll be heading home to her new forever family.

On Thursday she performed all her commands for the final testing phase of training.  Needless to say, she did really well and passed her test with flying fur. Her inmate trainer says that they are all so very proud of her and the progress she’s made.  He says that they are going to miss having Daisy around and he’s thankful for the time he was able to spend with her.  He’s going to miss her goofy reaction when a fly came near her. Watching her play in the yard was also a delight.  She had so much fun getting low to the ground and sneaking up and pouncing on her friends, then take off running circles around them throwing a spin in because she can.  He said her antics would have them all laughing.

Daisy’s inmate trainer says that he’s sure that Daisy’s new family will fall in love pretty quickly with this amazing girl.  He says that you couldn’t ask for a better girl!

Sweetheart Of A Hound!

This week was swap week at SCG - Jenkins. The trainers swap dogs to see how they do performing commands for someone else and also check for separation anxiety. Daisy did not show any signs at all. She did all her commands perfectly for her swap week trainer. He said she is a sweetheart of a hound and loves affection almost as much as she loves treats. He’s sure Daisy is going to make her new family very happy.

Daisy The Fly Hunter

This past week Daisy has been doing very well with her commands and extras (shake, kiss, spin). They have been working more on distance and duration. Daisy is a very laid back gal. She loves to hang out on the bed while eating out of her Kong filled with peanut butter or popcorn.

Daisy Mae hunts for flies around the dorm and then runs from them. Her trainer said it is so funny to watch her trying to be brave and then run away when a fly is near. Daisy is such a sweet girl. You couldn’t ask fo a better greyhound to add as a part of your family. Her trainer could go on and on about her, but you will soon find out how special she is is just a couple short weeks!

Love Bug

Since Daisy Mae has mastered all 13 of her basic commands, many with both hand signal and verbal cues, she and her inmate trainer have been working on a few extras.  He says that she’s such a love bug and a joy to be around.  She has cuteness in the spades!

She’s taking to retirement like a champ!  Watching TV, running in the big yard with her friends, and eating snacks seem to suit her well!  Her inmate trainer says that he believes Daisy Mae is going to make a wonderful addition to some new lucky family.

Goldfish.....Snack Of Choice

Daisy has been doing really well with her commands. She knows all 13 basic commands and also “give”, “kiss” and “shake”. She started to play with toys and especially likes a yellow duck and balls that squeak.

One of Daisy’s favorite things to do is to watch tv while getting loved on. She also wanted to let you know that she enjoys peanut butter cookies, marshmallows and goldfish. She loves goldfish and will eat the whole bag if you let her.

Daisy loves running on the big yard, especially when her boyfriend Frankie is out there. They love to run around and play. She’s the cutest little cow dog out there.

Daisy does an excellent job leash walking and always makes sure to stay by your side. Her trainer knows she is going to make an amazing addition to your family. See you soon.

All Smiles When Daisy Is Around

It’s week 5 and Daisy Mae is doing wonderful. She knows and performs all of her 13 basic commands really well. Her trainer is going to start working on some extras soon. Daisy loves other dogs and everybody she meets.

Daisy played with toys for the first time today. It was lots of fun to watch. She does a lot of cute things that keeps her trainer smiling. He loves to see her hide her face under her pillow. Daisy is a silly girl and her trainer is enjoying all the time he’s getting to spend with her.

Undeniably Adorable!

Daisy Mae is 1 month into her training and she is doing great! She’s doing very well with all of her commands. She’s only having trouble with down and jump, but should have them all figured out very soon. She’s a smart girl. She loves everyone and everyone loves Daisy Mae!

Daisy enjoys running on the big yard with the other dogs. She has no problems having her ears cleaned, teeth brushed, nails trimmed or being brushed. She loves peanut butter and marshmallows. Her trainer said she is doing this new cute thing, where she hides her face under her pillow when she sleeps. It’s adorable just like Daisy Mae.

Miss Daisy Loves To Sit

Little Miss Daisy has had a great week!  Her inmate trainer says that she’s learning things very fast!  He shows her something 2-3 times then she becomes a master at it.  She loves the sit and bed commands.  Ever since she learned to sit that’s all she wants to do.  If you have something that she wants, she’ll sit automatically and look at you with her big beautiful brown eyes and make it almost impossible to deny her.

She also makes the cutest sound when she yawns. She got to run in the big yard today for the first time!  She seemed to enjoy running with the other hounds.  Her inmate trainer says that Daisy completely made his day when he gave her the “here” command and she left all the other hounds, running really fast on her way back to him.

Daisy is a sweet and loving girl who is going to wrap her new family right around her little paw just like she’s done with her inmate trainer.

Smart Girl

It’s been a very pleasant week with Daisy Mae, as her trainer likes to call her. She is extremely smart and learns at an impressive rate. She may be the oldest hound this session, but all her trainer has to say to the others is good luck keeping up. Daisy was sitting in about five minutes. On command. Now that’s a record.

Daisy Mae is extremely affectionate and she meets no strangers. She has great leash walking manners. She loves her little pillow in her kennel. She lays her whole head on the pillow just as perfect as can be. This girl may be a little spoiled. She already has her trainer wrapped around her paw.

Gentle Soul

Daisy’s inmate trainer says that the hardest yet most rewarding thing about this program is watching the dogs leave for their forever homes at the end of 10 weeks.  It’s nice to have new hounds arriving to help with the heartbreak.  He says that within a few days another dog has wrapped him around a paw and Daisy is no exception.

Daisy has had a wonderful week!  Daisy is very affectionate and seems to have a gentle soul.  He says that she seems to be very laid back and easy going.  He’s looking forward to the weeks ahead with Daisy!
