Graduation Time!

Lacey had her final exam and passed with flying colors.  Lacey is a wonderful Greyhound and her trainer said she has been the best dog he has trained so far.  She has touched the hearts of everyone in the pod.  He will really miss her.

Lacey's trainer is happy to know she is going to a good home.  Her love is limitless and she will definitely keep you entertained.  He hopes you enjoy this beautiful brindle girl as much as he has.

Jumping Bean

Lacey is a high-energy dog and a lot of fun to play with and learn from. This week was dog swap week. She was great to have and she loves to jump and show how active she is. On the fourth day of training her, she got sick and her substitute trainer had to stay up with her. But Lacey bounced right back!

She knows all of her commands and even extra ones like shake and spin. Her secondary trainer reported that he really enjoyed working with Lacey this week. Her secondary trainer thinks he had more separation anxiety than Lacey did, but he was glad to have some quality time with a new friend.

Next Leap - Forever Home

With only 2 1/2 weeks left of training until graduation,  Lacey's training is complete.  She knows all of her basic commands and has no behavioral issues.  Of course her trainers will keep practicing all her basic and extra commands so they are spot on when she goes to her forever home.  Lacey will get to have fun playing and running around and her trainer may try to squeeze in one more extra command.  We shall see...

Lacey's inmate trainer can't say enough about how wonderful this beautiful greyhound is.  She is exactly what he would want in a pet.  He knows her forever family will love her as much as he does.  There's no doubt about that!

One Talented Gal!

This week SCG came to the prison to check in on the Greyhounds and see how they are progressing on their commands.  Lacey did great with all of her commands and she did them without treats!  She also showed off her awesome leaping ability!  This girl has talent!!!

Lacey's trainer can't say enough how sweet this wonderful Greyhound is.  He will truly miss her when she leaves, but is so happy to hear she has a forever home waiting for her.  Lacey will be the light of your life for years to come.

A Born Entertainer

Another week has passed with our amazing young lady Lacey. She is the hit of the dorm! She loves to entertain and is always happy. She has all of her basic commands polished, and is now learning new commands that you can use to entertain yourselves and your friends.

After experimenting with her whining, her trainer has learned that it only happens when the dorm is silent - no humming of the television, no people shuffling and chatting, no noise at all. So, her trainer has started to leave the radio on when they leave and that does the trick for her. He recommends doing the same when she gets to her forever home until she feels comfortable enough to enjoy the silence.

A Whole New World of Commands

Happy New Year, everyone! Lacey and her inmate trainer got back to work this week. She has gotten a little lazy (laziness: a classic greyhound maneuver) with a couple of her basic commands. But a few days of hard work is getting her back in shape.

She also worked on some extra commands with her trainer since he doesn't want her getting bored. She's learning "leap" which makes her look like a reindeer trying to take off. It's so cute!

She's also learning to "speak" - both as a whisper and a bark. And last but not least, she's working on "spin." This is a quick circle motion she does in front of whoever gives the command. The only other thing she's working on is whining when everyone else leaves the room to eat. She loves being around people and is still getting used to the sudden quiet since the dorm is always full of activity and chatter. She's already showing signs of improvement with that, though, and there's nothing her trainer thinks this sweet smart girl can't handle.

Merry Christmas from Lacey!

It's been another great week with Lacey. She and her inmate trainer spent the first part of the week perfecting all of her basic commands and teaching her to shake with both paws. She loves to do this with everyone she meets! They have taken the latter part of the week off from training and just enjoyed the holidays. All the hounds and trainers enjoyed watching Christmas specials - Lacey loved a "Charlie Brown Christmas" and thought that Snoopy made an excellent penguin.

Lacey received many food gifts from Santa, like Milk Bones, peanut butter treats and some jerky. Lacey has brightened her trainer's holiday and can't wait to brighten yours! Stay tuned and next week we'll see what Lacey's new year's resolutions are!

Bundle Of Joy

What an awesome week this bundle of joy named Lacey had!  She is always on her toes, ready to learn and eager to please.  Her inmate trainer introduced the rest of her basic commands this week.  It only takes her a few sessions for this beauty to grasp the concept of the command.

This week she was also introduced to stair walking and the "jump" command.  She had no problems with either one.  Lacey is also learning "leave it" and "give".   She's the "jack of all trades".

Lacey is loved by everyone at the prison.  They love her crazy wagging tail!  She is a greyt companion to have around.  She spreads joy and happiness to everyone she meets!

Ms. Personality

It's only week two and this wonderful animal is already stealing the hearts of everyone in the dorm.  She is always happy and excited to meet people.  When it comes to meal times, she bounces around over and over getting all four paws off the ground.

However, in order to get her meal she must calmly lay in the down position and then her inmate trainer places the bowl between her front paws and she eats in the down position. The entire time her tail never stops wagging. It's adorable!

She is learning all her commands and is always eager to please. Although she's easily distracted by everything around her, she does come back to focus with a little redirection using the leash. We will have that all worked out long before graduation.

Whoever adopts this beauty is going to fall head over heels in love with this extraordinary Greyhound!

Fun Loving Beauty

Lacey is a beautiful, energetic red brindle.  She is outgoing, friendly and obedient, and her inmate trainer is already enamored with this fun loving beauty.  Lacey is very eager to please and is already picking up on some of her basic commands like:  "Hurry", "let's go", "kennel", "heel" and "wait".

This week has also been spent bonding with this sweet girl.  She has a cute bushy tail, that doesn't wag much, but floats above her and waves in circles as she walks.  She is adorable in every sense of the word.  Whoever adopts this wonderful Greyhound will be very happy they picked her.  She's a keeper!
