Loving Life

Jacks has learned so much over the 10 weeks and Pulaski. He still is a little slow to respond to heel, but knows all the other basic commands. He also knows some extras. His favorite treats and the Mutt-N-Chops and will do any command very quickly for this tasty treat.

Jacks is not a big fan of having his nails trimmed, but is doing better. Try some peanut butter in his muzzle when trimming his nails. A little distraction can go a long ways. Jacks is a sweet boy and can’t wait to meet his forever family.

Heading Home Soon

Jacks continues to improve on his commands. His heel and stay are the commands his trainer will work extra hard on this week. He is a little slow to respond to these two. He’s got the other basic commands down pat.

It won’t be long now. Only 1 more week and Jacks will be heading to his forever home, just in time for the holidays. His trainer will miss him, but she’s glad he’s found his forever home.

Practice Makes Perfect

Jacks continues to work on the stairs.  His inmate trainer says she sees improvement every day and that practice makes perfect.  She says that Jacks has grown a lot in the last 8 weeks!  He’s very attentive and absolutely loves squeaky toys and will entertain himself for hours!  He likes to run in the yard and show off a bit.  He knows how to sit, but can be a little picky as to when he follows through.  His inmate trainer says that she’s truly enjoying her time with this sweet guy!  

Crazy For Squeaky Toys

Jacks has made it through his nail trim and received a super yummy Kong treat afterwards.  Yay for Jacks! He loves squeaky toys!  His inmate trainer has been working with him on the “give” command and he’s doing really well.   Believe it or not Jacks prefers toys over treats!  His inmate trainer says that she’s amazed at how much Jacks has learned, and taught her, over the last 6 weeks.  

"Which Hand?"

Jacks is doing great with all of his commands!  He’s got his extra commands paws up, which hand, shake and bounce all figured out.  Jack’s inmate trainer says that Jacks has been a little stubborn this week during nail trim time.  His inmate trainer says his training team has been working together to show Jacks what fun nail time can be.  Treats and toys are helping to show him how to relax and enjoy the spa treatment.  When he comes home, trying peanut butter in a muzzle is a good way to provide a yummy treat reward while trimming nails.  

Jacks’ inmate trainer says that working with Jacks has been very rewarding. It’s teaching her how to navigate new issues and grow as a trainer.  

 

Affectionate

Jack’s doing great and emerging from his shell!  He’s affectionate with his humans!  His inmate trainer says that he enjoys playing with toys and seems to motivate him more than anything else.  When he gets a new toy he’s all in and wants it to be all his.  His inmate trainer is working to show him how much fun sharing can be.

He’s doing a great job with his commands!  He’s got hurry, let’s go, kennel, release, wait, here, jump and leave it all figured out.  He understands what heel, sit, down, stay and bed are but can be a little slow to respond. 

Jack’s inmate trainer says that she believes he is going to be a wonderful addition to some lucky family. 

Loving Personality

Jacks continues to progress very well!  His inmate trainer says that they’re working on the “sit” command and he’s getting the hang of it, but would rather just do it whenever he’s ready.  She says that he’s a ton of fun when it comes to playtime.  They dump the toy box out and he has a blast with all the toys.  When in the yard he’s not too interested in running until he sees the other dogs race past him, then he gets excited and joins in.  

His inmate trainer says that she believes Jacks is going to make a wonderful pet for some lucky family.  His loving personality will capture your heart pretty quickly.  

Attention Hound

Jacks is making great progress as he emerges from his shell.  He loves toys and is easily motivated by the promise of play.  His inmate trainer says that Jacks can be a little stubborn, but they’re working on showing him how much fun follow through can be.  He’s always ready to go ,so “let’s go” is a command he enjoys.  He’s gotten really good at “wait”.  They’ve been working on “jump” and he tackles this one with glee!  

Jacks loves attention! His inmate trainer says that he may be an attention hound vs a greyhound!

Smart Boy

Jacks is an extremely smart boy. Training is going well. He knows hurry, kennel, here, bed and jump. He has also learned spin and clean-up. Squeaky toys are his favorite. Jacks will drop it in the bucket, so his trainer taught him “clean-up”. How cute is that! He brings so much joy to the dorm. Everyone loves having him around.

Jacks is not a big fan of other dogs walking past his kennel when he’s eating. Food is important business and he prefers to dine alone. He can also be a little quirky about his space when he’s napping on his bed. He made a request for a “Do Not Disturb” sign, but he’s not allowed to have one. His inmate trainer is working to correct this behavior by showing him that sharing his space can be fun and safe. He’s a young boy, so no need to be acting like a grumpy grandpa.

Jacks Has Arrived For Training

Jacks has just arrived for training.  His inmate trainer says that it seems like Jacks may catch on quickly.  He’s infatuated with squeaky toys!  He gets excited and hopeful when he hears one squeak.  This may be a good training reward and/or tool for teaching wait.  He’s already figured out Let’s Go, Kennel, Here and Jump.  His inmate trainer says that training is going to be fun and entertaining with Jacks!
