A True Gentleman

Hello Clarence Fans! It is time for his trainers to say goodbye to their friend Clarence.  He is now ready to go to his forever home.  He knows all of his basic commands and has learned additional commands, “Give”, “Shake”, “Kiss” and “Rollover,” he is so smart.

Clarence is truly a magnificent greyhound.  He is a true gentleman and a very endearing companion.  He is sure to be a treasure and bring joy to his adoptive family.  Clarence’s personality is his greatest attribute and his trainer hopes his family will enjoy Clarence as much as they have.

Perfect Guy

Hello forever family! Clarence's swap week trainer would like to tell you all about him. First of all, swap week is when they trade dogs for a week and see how they do with other people. This is a way to test for obedience and also separation anxiety, and Clarence did great. He is a very well-trained dog and has great manners. He's also very laid-back and just goes with the flow of things. His swap week trainer went through all the commands with him and he was very impressed with Clarence! Clarence knows his feeding routine very well and does what he is trained to do. He's a very smart dog, and so loving! He will make a great pet and member of your family, and it’s just a short while until he bounds into your heart and home. Until next time!

Tender and Gentle

Hello Clarence fans!

It’s been another great week with Clarence; his trainer says it has been an absolute joy and pleasure getting to know this hound. He shows improvement on his commands every week, and this week they worked on reinforcing the commands that he already knows but adding increased distance and duration. That helps them work out the finer details of each command.

Clarence loves the bed command (of course) and he enjoys going through all of them. He is simply a great dog with a tender heart. He is enjoyable to walk and work with. Clarence is a such gentleman! He loves to be scratched softly on his neck, ears and head area. His coat has a very unique and beautiful pattern that is stunning to stare at indefinitely.

We’re now at week 8 and Clarence goes to his forever home so soon! This guy is going to be sorely missed - you’re adding a real gem to your pack, that’s for sure!

Kangaroo Clarence

Hello, Clarence fans!

It's your good old boy Clarence here. Things are going great for me at Jenkins. I've learned all of my 13 basic commands and I perform them with perfection. I've also learned a couple of extras like kiss and roll over. My trainer thinks that me rolling over is the coolest thing ever. He says that it's amazing how I throw all 71 pounds of my noodle body on the floor and roll it over, then pick it back up again. He also started teaching me how to shake and he said if we have time we will learn spin. It sounds like fun, but it's going to take a lot to top my roll over - just sayin’!

Other than that, he's always talking about how handsome I am and how amazing my color scheme is. He tells everybody that I'm the best looking greyhound he's ever seen and he's always rambling on about how loving, playful, and well-mannered I am… whatever that means? And sometimes when I get really excited about something I’ll bounce straight up in the air and twist and turn. It's really fun! I'm not sure what it means but every time I do it he laughs and says he reckons that since I was bred in Australia, that I obviously have a little kangaroo in me.

All in all, this is the best vacation a dog could ask for. This guy feeds me good food, brushes my coat, cleans my teeth, he clips my nails, takes care of my ears, lets me hang out on the bed with him and watch TV every night, and he even lets me play with toys! I don't know how you guys plan on topping that, but I hope you're getting busy because my time at school here is coming to a close... see ya soon!

An Utter Gentleman

Hello, Clarence fans!

Let’s start with Clarence’s personality – this guy is humble and gentle through and through. When given treats by hand, he always takes them gently. Clarence loves to play with his toys, especially a green pig that oinks when he squeezes it! Even though it’s his favorite, he gives it up easily when asked.

This week was a fun one. During show and tell, Clarence performed the commands he has been learning very well. He is so smart and affectionate – isn’t he just the cutest? Everyone at Jenkins loves him and they’re sure you’ll feel the same way about this special guy! Clarence’s trainer enjoys working with him so much and he is certain that you’ll form a great bond with this gorgeous greyhound lickety split.

Every time that he takes Clarence out of his kennel is an exciting moment. When the kennel opens, he now waits on cue, then releases on command and heels on his own. Clarence follows his trainer to get his bowl and then on to the kibble container, when he is asked to “stay.” They then walk calmly back to the kennel, at which point Clarence sits (on his own!) while his trainer places the food bowl inside the kennel. Clarence waits calmly like the perfect gentleman that he is until he gets the kennel command – then it’s time to chow down!

Affectionate Hound

Clarence’s inmate trainer says that it’s hard to believe that they are already half way through the training session. Clarence’s personality has fully blossomed and he’s playful and extremely loving.

He knows all of his commands really well with the exception of “down” which they just started working on. He even knows “kiss” and is working on a few more extras. His inmate trainer says that he’s a great leash walker and loves hanging out in his bed. He loves to play with his toys and is very well mannered with them. His inmate trainer says that Clarence is one of the most affectionate greyhounds he’s ever had the privilege to work with.

Couch Potato Companion

Hello Clarence Fans! We are one month into our training session and Clarence is right on schedule. For the most part, he has mastered all of his commands, except down. And that’s only because they haven’t started working on it just yet.

Clarence is so easy-going and loving. Everything seems to come natural for him. He really loves hanging out on his bed and watching tv with his trainer. A true couch potato companion. Clarence loves playing with his favorite toy, which is a green pig! He tosses it around in the air.

Clarence learned an extra command, “kiss”. He will take his big ole cold wet nose and lightly touch your cheek, lips or nose, whichever you point to. He will do just about anything for his favorite treat, goldfish.

Clarence’s trainer discovered his “tickle spot”. If you scratch behind his front shoulder, it makes his back leg go crazy. It’s so funny to see! This boy is going to rock your world.

Clarence is Tooooooo Cute!

It’s been another wonderful week with Clarence! He’s doing great with the commands they have been working on. They started working on “jump” today and Clarence was like Evel Knievel within minutes! He also got to run on the big yard for the first time today. Not only is he fast, but he had a blast running and playing. His trainer isn’t sure who had more fun. His trainer watching Clarence come running when he gave him the “here” command, or Clarence getting to run for the first time at Jenkins.

Nail trimming and teeth brushing is a breeze with Clarence. In fact he went to sleep when his trainer was trimming his nails. Silly boy. Clarence is a handsome boy with adorable eyes. He’s smart, cute, fun and just an all out true gentleman. His trainer loves his to pieces.

One Smart Cookie!

Clarence’s inmate trainer says that the past two weeks have been a pleasure!  He says that he’s excited to be the guy who gets to train Clarence.  He says that so far he is one of the most affectionate and beautiful hounds he’s had the privilege to be around.

They’ve been working on “kennel,” “wait,” “heel,” “bed,” “leave it,” “here,” and leash walking.  Clarence is one smart cookie!  He’s picking up on everything really fast and his leash walking is coming right along.  He loves to hang out on his bed eating popcorn and watching football.  So far “here” is his favorite command.

Mr. Perfect

Hey y'all!

First of all, a word from Clarence's trainer: "I would like to thank Ms. Patti so very much for assigning Clarence to me. When I saw him, it was love at first sight! He is by far the most gorgeous greyhound I've ever laid eyes on. Everybody loves him!"

Awww! Doesn't that just melt your heart?!

Seriously, though, his color scheme is out of this world (and he has a nearly identical brother from the same litter in his class, too!). He has the most adorable ears ever. And don't get us started on those big ole brown eyes! It can make training difficult because they're sooo easy to give in to!

Clarence's first day with his trainer was a breeze; he got a bath, got checked for ticks and he got to catch up on some sleep. Since then, he and his trainer have just been getting to know each other while working on some of the basic commands. He is picking up on everything so quickly! Clarence is unbelievably smart and has proven to be just a huge lovebug. He is adjusting really well and picking up on everything. His trainer has enjoyed every second with this hunk and is looking forward to the next 9 weeks of bliss with Clarence! Even after just a few days, he's already wrapped around his paw.

All right folks, that's all for now - y'all take care and check back next week to see what Clarence has been doin'!
