Working for Retirement

Belle has been enjoying her time bonding with her inmate trainer.  She is already very proficient in her commands and knows a variety of neat extras, but the focus for now is bonding so that Belle will trust and happily perform commands for her new trainer.

At first, Belle was pulling a lot on the leash but her inmate trainer has learned that if she gets ahead of him he can say her name and she slows down and walks beside him.  In just a few short days and she’s already making great eye contact and is responding quickly to her inmate trainer’s voice.  She loves getting a special Kong toy filled with peanut butter and crunch treats.  During play times she is great at playing fetch.  She doesn’t seem to mind sharing her toys which is great since she gets really into squeaky toys!

Graduation is Near!

Belle has had a wonderful week.  She has been so awesome.  She will be great for any family.  She leaves in four days and she knows all her basic commands and eight extra commands.  Her training does not have to stop here - she is so smart and is a fast learner!  Her inmate trainer says thank you for allowing him to train her.  It has been a pleasure!

Happy And Energetic

Belle did great during swap week this week!  This is the week where the inmate trainers swap hounds to work on commands and it also gives the dogs an opportunity to receive commands from new trainers.

Her temporary inmate trainer says that Belle is an energetic girl who loves to play with the treat ball!  She’ll roll it around until she gets to eat all of the treats out of it!  He says that she is well trained and treat motivated.  She performed her commands really well, but is a little slow following through with “wait”.

Her temporary trainer says that Belle is going to be a great new family member for her forever family!

Learning New Things

Belle has had another awesome week!  She has been working on the BANG command!  It’s a fun command where you point your fingers like a gun and say BANG and she’ll play dead.  Her inmate trainer says that Belle loves to learn new things.

Belle knows all of her commands with verbal only cues!  She knows wait, here, sit, down, and stay with verbal only or hand signal only cues!  She has also learned how to shake, circle, spin, belly, bounce, pick up her toys, and catch!

Her inmate trainer says that Belle has been a great influence on his life.  He is going to miss her when she graduates, but knows that she has a bright future ahead of her.

Squeaky Toys

Belle has had a great and exciting week!  She learned to put away her toys!  Her inmate trainer says that she is by far the smartest dog he has ever trained.  She has perfected all of her basic commands!  Her inmate trainer says that she’ll have all of her extra commands perfected by the time she graduates.

Belle played with a few toys this week and just like a kid she loves the ones that make noises!

Her inmate trainer says that he is going to miss Belle when she graduates.  He knows that she is going to be a great companion that her new family is to love.

The Housekeeper

Belle has had an awesome week!  Her inmate trainer has been working on a new trick "pick up your toys".   In three short days, she has begun doing this new trick.  "Pick up your toys" is where her inmate trainer throws her toys on the floor and then he tells her to "pick up your toys" and she does it - she picks them up, one by one, and puts them in the toy box.

Other extra commands she has learned include "shake", "belly", "circle", "spin", "bounce", "catch", "pick up your toys", and "paws up".

He loves working with her and she definitely loves to learn.  She is so smart and would probably jump over the moon if you asked her to.  She is doing so well. The entire pod loves her. She also loves people and will do very well in her new home!

Oh, here is one of her other "acts".  Enjoy her!

Sweet And Loving

Belle has had a wonderful week!  She has been perfecting all of her basic commands and extras!  She enjoys learning, playing, toys, and being around people!  Belle loves treats, but is doing great without them!  She will do all of her commands without a treat reward!  The treat reward will not be completely removed until week eight, but it’s wonderful to see her doing so well during the weaning off phase of training.

Belle’s inmate trainer is enjoying his time with this loving girl.  He believes that she is going to a wonderful pet for some lucky family!

All About The Shake

Belle and her inmate trainer have had a great week!  Belle has learned to shake and bounce!  She is also doing really well with spin, circle, and catch! Her inmate trainer says that Belle learns really fast if she’s having fun.  She knows all of her basic commands with verbal cues!  Her inmate trainer will starting working on hand signal only cues next week.

Belle’s inmate trainer has also been working to keep Belle’s focus by using the attention game.  He says that now she will look at him during her play break as if to ask if he needs her to do anything.

Belle loves people and attention.  Her inmate trainer believes that she will be a wonderful companion for some lucky family.

One Smart Girl

Hi there!  My name is Belle!  I used to race for a living but now my inmate trainer tells me I’m learning skills for retirement.  I wonder what that is?  Well, anyway it’s pretty cool I get treats so I don’t mind.  My inmate trainer says I’m very smart; he’s right.  I enjoy learning because I’m good at it and I get treats!  It’s kinda funny because I know what my inmate trainer wants me to do, but I’d rather have the treat first.  I try to hold out, but honestly he’s not learning very well so I give in hoping he’ll catch on soon.

This week while trying to teach my trainer to give me the treat first I followed through with hurry, let’s go, kennel, release, here, sit, down and jump.  He’s really slow in giving up treats for wait, heel, stay, and bed so I’m a little slower in my response.  I also learned this really fun trick called spin!  I get to go in circles!  I also learned how to shake.  Who knew all these fun things could mean food!

I love people and toys!  I don’t mind sharing my toys and I’m looking forward to spending more time with my trainer.  Wonder what we’ll do next?

A New Life

Belle is a girl who’s motivated by yummylicious treats!  It’s week two and she is already performing sit, down, and bed!  Her inmate trainer says he’ll be working towards getting a response from her on the first command.

Belle is a high energy girl that loves people and toys, especially balls.  This week her inmate trainer worked on teaching her to fetch, shake, and belly.  Belle will enter her kennel on command and will stay until given permission to exit. Her inmate trainer says that Belle learns really well and seems to enjoy training (or maybe kibble).

She is adapting well to the facility and her inmate trainer believes that she is going to do really well with training!

Welcome To Training

Belle has arrived at the prison for training!  She’ll spend the first 72 hours bonding with her inmate trainer.  During this time her trainer will work helping her learn her name!

Belle’s inmate trainer says that she is a beautiful energetic girl.  She loves to move around and smell of everything! He says that she seems to really enjoy being around people and other dogs.  She doesn’t mind anyone around her food and has fallen in love with toys!  She’s treat motivated so this will help with training.  Her inmate trainer is looking forward to seeing Belle’s progress in the coming weeks!
