Sweet And Loving
/Wow! The last week is here already. Derek’s trainer is sad to see him go for sure. He will be missed by her and the others at Pulaski.
Derek has made great progress over the weeks that he and his trainer have spent together. Forming a bond was instant, but becoming the alpha role over him was difficult. Derek was a challenge in many ways, but with patience, love and trust they grew together. Derek’s trainer did not give in nor give up. His desire to be the leader didn’t distract her from showing him they could work together and he could trust her to take the reins. He now is attached to his trainer at the hip. He is sociable with others, but when it comes to laying down the law, walking or tugging on his collar, he does best with his person.
If you are up to teaching Derek more tricks he will be eager to learn. He enjoys treats, snacks and kibble.
His trainer wishes the best for Derek in his new home. Please be patient, kind and loving to earn his trust. Derek can be defiant with new people and when he’s under stress is when he needs his leader the most. Take the lead and encourage him. Remind him that he’s a good boy and distract him with something positive. His natural reaction to stress may be defense. That’s why it’s important that he knows you’ve got him covered and he can relax. Lots of praise and treats when Derek does well, will go a long way to building bridges. Derek is an amazing dog! Just you wait and see.
