"High Five"

Waylon continues to amaze his trainer. She said he’s so loving and she’s enjoyed every minute with him. He is no longer scared of the maintenance guys or the food cart. It took him awhile to overcome his fear of those things, but he did, and his trainer is very proud of him for it.

Waylon made Pulaski News as one of the sweetest dogs with a greyt personality. Everyone loves Waylon! He knows all his commands, but is still not impressed with “jump”. He will eventually do it, but would rather not. He does know a few extras: shake, pray and high five.

Squeaky Toys!

Waylon’s inmate trainer says that she’s grown to love Waylon so much!  She says he’s the best comforter when life gets tough.  He loves eating, snapping at flies, and playing with squeaky toys.  He thinks that toys were made for shredding so that the squeaky can be surgically removed.  He likes to be around the female dogs in the program.  He knows pretty when he sees it!  LOL

His inmate trainer says that Waylon listens and responds to commands really well.  She’s proud of the progress he’s made and is enjoying their time together.

Happy Hound

Waylon is an outgoing boy, but also has a shy side. His training is still going well. He’s working on a couple extras. Shake and bang, bang. If there was an Olympic sport of fly catching, Waylon would win gold!

Waylon’s trainer’s door has been open and he loves to smell the air and go up and down the stairs. He is a pro at them. Waylon is a loving boy and lets everyone pet him. He’s not a fan of the guards with the loud radios and keys. He tends to shy away from them. Waylon is a very passive boy, like an old man. LOL

Waylon is going to be a great addition to some lucky family. It won’t be long now.

A Joy To Have Around

Waylon seems to have a dry sense of humor.  He’s loved by everyone and is the biggest fly swatter his inmate trainer has ever seen.  He loves squeaky toys and likes to be outside.  His inmate trainer says that he’s just a joy to be around.  He’s all in for neck scratches, treats, and any attention you care to dish out.  He’s doing great with his training and knows many of his commands with hand signal and verbal cues.

Touching Lives Everywhere

Waylon has been more relaxed lately. Training is going well and he really loves a little milkbone with peanut butter. He’s mastered the stairs like a pro. Snaps at flies like it’s an Olympic event. He still gets startled from time to time when the guards’ keys are really loud. He loves to play outside then relax the day away. His inmate trainer says that she absolutely adores sweet Waylon! He’s also going to be the first greyhound to be in the prisoner newsletter! She says it shows that Waylon has touched a lot of people.

Next American Idol

It’s been a noisy week at the prison this week and Waylon has decided he’d rather hang out in his crate until all of the shenanigans are over.  His inmate trainer has been working to show him that just because it’s loud doesn’t mean it’s bad.  He’s doing really well with his commands and even performs at times with no treats!  He’s started singing when his inmate trainer sings.  He’s thinking they might become famous with their vocals.

He loves squeaky toys and his main mission is to operate and remove the squeaker.  So far he’s been successful with his surgery attempts. He seems to enjoy attention and his inmate trainer says he’s a joy to be around.

Everyone Adores Waylon

Waylon is still doing great into week 4. He now has sit, down, and bed down pat. Sometimes he will even do them without treats. Waylon is well on his way to mastering his basic commands. He is still the stair master. He goes up and down them like a pro.

No fly is safe when Waylon is around. He snaps at the flies in mid air. It’s funny to watch. He also will bark at the air sometimes, like he is seeing a ghost. LOL He is kind of a scaredy cat, err dog. He is afraid of mops, sticks, carts, black gloves. He doesn’t even want to go outside if a cart is our there, but with some reassurance and encouragement he will carry on. He is so sweet and gentle. Everyone and even the other dogs adore him.

Stair Master

Waylon continues to show his trainer he is a country boy at heart. He is no longer a rookie on the stairs, but more like a stair master. He has a great sense of humor and lets everyone know in the dorm with a howl/roo when someone is coming.

Waylon worked on sit and down this week and knows quite a few of the other basic commands too. He was stubborn to train at first, but after he smells his way around, he is ready to focus and get the job (commands) done.

Fly Catcher

Waylon the fly catcher!  It seems he’s channeling his inner “Daniel Son”.  (you know…the movie Karate Kid?)  He’s totally focused on fly catching when he spots one.  In other news, he’s mastered the stairs after only 3 days! He’s currently beating his inmate trainer to the top!  She says she’s sure he’ll be producing a training/work out video soon!

When there’s a group of people, he wants to wander around and nose around in everyone’s business.  When he’s finished investigating, he’ll go to his crate ready for a nap.  They’re currently working on leash skills. His inmate trainer says that Waylon is like a little old man who is pleasant be with, enjoys attention, but can be a little stubborn from time to time.  She says he’s a joy to be around and can’t wait to see what comes next!

Tail Wagging Waylon

Waylon’s inmate trainer says that he’s so sweet!  His tail wags like a helicopter all day long.  He’s happiness on 4 legs!  She says His personality is friendly and inviting with a very gentle spirit.  He’s been working on stairs and is improving every day.  He loves his kennel!  He likes toys but loses interest pretty quickly.  He loves being outside especially in the early morning of a brand-new day.

Waylon’s inmate trainer says that Waylon keeps her upbeat and looking forward to the day.
