Dora The Explorer

Swap week took place this week.  It’s the time where the inmates swap dogs to see how they do with new people giving them commands and time away from their normal training team.  Dora’s temporary inmate trainer is proud to report that Dora did great!  She listened well and just went with the flow.  He said that she’s a lot of fun to be around. She proved that she knows all of her commands and preformed them without a hitch.

Dora’s temporary trainer said that one thing is clear after taking Dora out to the big yard – she loves to run!  He said that he fondly started calling her Dora The Explorer as she enjoys investigating everything! So much to sniff and check out!  He said that Dora is a smart girl who is full of energy and loves her toys!  His favorite thing about her is the cute looks she gives when she wants something.  It’s as if you can hear her thoughts asking for whatever she wants at the time.  Hold on to your treat bags ‘cause Dora’s sure to mesmerize you into a few extras!

A Place To Call My Own... Forever Home

Hi humans!  As you know, my name is Dora.  I’ve been working with an inmate trainer to learn how to train humans to give me treats!  It’s been a very interesting journey!  See, it goes like this… my trainer makes a request and I follow through and get a treat!  Man oh man, why didn’t I know about this before now!  Life is great!

So, my inmate trainer has been talking to me about this graduation thing that is coming up and how I’m going to meet my forever family.  I’m not real sure what either of these things are, but he sure makes it sound good.  Just the thought of a place to call my own forever and ever sounds amazing.  I wonder if the humans are trained to give me treats there?  I’m happy to work with them to teach them how it’s done.  I’m sure they’ll need time to bond with me first or maybe they’ll show up with treats on hand.  I have to say I’m eager to see what the future holds!

Couch Potato in Training

It's been another week with Dora and she continues to do well with her commands. She is still working on heel and is a little slow at this one, but that's normal. There's so much to do and see! Dora really enjoys running and she has been doing some couch training as a reward, 10 to 15 minutes at a time a couple of days a week. Dora is looking forward to a new year and a new family! Will it be you?

Precious Dora

Dora has been playing with the male dogs this week and having a blast!  Her inmate trainer says that Dora is so cute when she lounges around in the day room and starts rolling around on her back playing.

Dora is doing well with her commands.  She knows wait, here, sit, down, and bed with both verbal and hand-signal commands.  She can be a little slow responding at times, but will follow through.  Her inmate trainer says that he is very proud of the progress Dora has made.  He believes that she’s going to make a wonderful addition to some lucky family!

Lots Of Love To Give

Dora’s inmate trainer says that Dora is going to make some lucky family very happy!  He says that she has lots of love to give and enjoys life.

Dora continues to work on her commands.  She’s doing really well with all her basics and has learned the “leave it” command!  She can be a little slow to respond while she thinks through how bad she wants the treat reward.  She enjoys running and paying with the stuffed toys.  Her inmate trainer says that when she goes into her kennel she automatically goes into the down position waiting for the oh so yummy treat that she’ll receive for a job well done!

One Greyt Hound

Well another week with Dora and she is doing so well!  Her trainers have been working on her commands and she has started playing with toys this week. She seems to like them a lot. Dora also enjoys the day bed and her kennel, she will go in and go toward the down position and wait on a treat. She is such a good dog who's just looking for a good home to share her love with!

Absolute Sweetheart

Dora is coming along really well. She has been working on her commands and is doing wait, down, and bed like a champ. She has started roaching in her kennel which is so cute to see. She's still not super excited about toys but she does love to run and play. Dora is a very friendly and loving dog. She does great at feeding-time - her trainer has had his hand in the food bowl before and she just eats around it. Next week, she's going to work more on sit, stay, jump and stairs. Check back next week to see what dear Dora is up to!

A Real Love Bug

Well, it's been a couple of days with Dora and she seems to be a sweet, loving girl who enjoys running with the other dogs. She is not very toy-motivated right now but she is a happy dog. She's been working on learning her name, bed, sit, and wait. She's doing really well at wait. More to come with Dora next week! Be sure to follow along and check on all the progress she makes.
