Master Yoda

Yoshi's inmate trainer said his training time went by way too quickly.  Yoshi is a fun loving dog that loves running, chasing toys and other high energy activities while off leash, but snaps back quickly into being a calm, cool and collective greyhound when the leash goes back on. His inmate trainer says if his dogs were Jedi, Yoshi would be the master Yoda of the K-9 world. The force is strong in this wonderful boy!

Yoshi aced his test. He's knows all his command and his extras like the back of his paw!  He's going to be a super pet for someone special.

As graduation approaches, Yoshi's inmate trainer looks forward to the next greyhound he will be training, but not a day will go by that he won't look back to his fond memories of Yoshi.  He hopes he finds all the love he deserves.  He will miss his four-legged friend and wishes him luck in his new forever home.

Lovable and Full of Joy

It’s time for swap week!  Yoshi spent the week with an alternate inmate trainer.  His alternate trainer says that Yoshi is a lovable boy and a joy to be around.  He loves playing with toys and running in the big yard.

Yoshi knows all of his commands very well.  He’s treat motived and behaved really well for his alternate trainer.  He didn’t have any problems being away from his primary trainer.  Yoshi’s alternate trainer said that he really enjoyed his time with this wonderful boy.  He has no doubt that Yoshi’s forever family will love this sweet guy!

Handsome And Smart

Yoshi here!  Checking in with all my fans.  I hear I have a few.  How could I not?   I'm such a beautiful dark brindle boy with tons of talent and intelligence.  I must be pretty smart, typing this to you.  I better hurry before my trainer gets back...

I heard the other day in the big yard that we are going to our forever homes.  I've been dreaming about this day for quite a while.  I know I will make some family very happy with everything I have learned here in prison.  My trainer is very impressed at how calm I am, but bring out a toy and it's on, like donkey kong. LOL.  I just had to say that.  I do love to play, but not too rough.  I'm a little bit of a softy, but don't tell anyone.

I have a willingness to learn and may even teach you a trick or two!  Are you up for it?

Switch Shaker

This past week Yoshi and his inmate trainer were consumed with perfecting his extra commands which are "go back", "show me love", "spin", and "shake". He is so smart and is doing so well!

His inmate trainer is so proud of him.  Besides spending time training, they have lots of play time.  Yoshi is playing with toys now but he does get bored with them in a short time period.

He is a very friendly dog who has great recall. His inmate trainer can call him from across the dorm and he'll drop whatever he is doing and will come running.

By the way, he shakes with either paw.  What is that called in baseball terms? A switch pitcher, yeah!  Well then, Yoshi is a switch shaker!

He's quite the Greyhound, you shall soon see!

Do You Want A Toy?

Yoshi is doing fantastic with his basic commands and extras, that include:  "show me love", "bow,", "spin", "shake" and "speak".  Can you say super smart?  That's Yoshi.

He likes to play with toys.  His inmate trainer will pick a toy out of the bag and ask Yoshi if he wants it.  He will slowly take the toy from his trainer and wrap his paws around it.  It is adorable to watch.

Yoshi loves to run and play in the big yard.  He looks forward to it every day.  He's an all around great boy!

One Smart Boy!

This week Yoshi polished up his basic commands.  They worked on "sit", "down", "stay", "here", and "heel".  He knows all of them verbally and some with hand signals.  Did you know Yoshi is bilingual?  He is learning his basic commands in Vietnamese! He has also  learned "show me love" and "spin".  Yoshi is such a good dog and very smart.

Yoshi's inmate trainer took him to the big yard this week. He had so much fun!  They didn't stay outside long, since it was so hot.  Yoshi was ready to go back to his crate to cool off and relax.  Yoshi likes to play with toys, but only for a short time.  He seems to lose interest very quickly.

Yoshi's inmate trainer enjoys training this smart guy!

Happy, Happy Yoshi!

what a pretty sit!

Yoshi is a very happy dog, his inmate trainer states.  This week they worked on sit, down, and heel. He is doing very well learning all his basic commands.  They are working to fine tune those commands and increase response time as well as duration.

"Show Me Love" command

His inmate trainer has also taught Yoshi "show me love". Here he is demonstrating that command.  It is so sweet!  He also knows "bow".  What a smart one he is, for sure!!

Making Progress

Yoshi is doing really good with his basic commands!  He already knows: hurry, let's go, kennel, release, wait, heel, stay and bed!  He needs a little more work to sharpen his response times, but his inmate trainer is very proud of Yoshi’s progress!

Yoshi’s inmate trainer says that Yoshi loves to play with toys and doesn’t mind releasing them. He curious about everything and loves attention and relaxation!

Working Through The Basics

Yoshi has been working through the basic commands.  He’s doing really well with them all but is still a little slow responding. No worries though, it’s still early in the program and his inmate trainer has no doubt that Yoshi will have it all figured out soon.

Yoshi is responding well to his name.  He will look directly at his inmate trainer when his name is mentioned.  He enjoys playing with toys for a short amount of time and gets along great with the other dogs.

Discovering A Whole New Life

Yoshi has been learning his new name and how to walk on a leash.  His inmate trainer says that he’s a very friendly guy who seems happy all the time.  His tail is always wagging when people come up to him.  He already enjoys playing with chew toys and seems to have fun with everything he does.  He’s already catching on to his new name, which means “good luck” in Japanese.

Yoshi’s inmate trainer says that he believes that Yoshi is going to be a fast learner and he can’t wait to see what they discover next!
