The Beginnings
/We are in the "build it and they will come" stage of forming our new group, Second Chance Greyhounds. There is alot of work yet to be done before we "go live" but we have a great group of dedicated volunteers working deligently to ensure this happens as quickly as possible.
We are extremely excited about introducing this new concept to Georgia (and surrounding states). You will, too, once you hear about the great things we are doing and what wonderful Greyhounds we are bringing to the adoption community.
This site is ever evolving so stay tuned and watch it grow and follow us here for continuing updates as we become more established and ready to begin our work providing trained (CGC certified) Greyhounds to new adopters.
Today we received approval from the Georgia Secretary of State's Office that our corporate name submission, Second Chance Greyhounds, Inc., was approved! This is the first step toward obtaining incorporation status with the State and then filing for 501c3 status with the IRS. We are well on our way!
Whoo hoo!!
We have now obtained our official EIN number from the IRS. Now, on to completing the necessary paperwork to file to incorporate with the State and finally, filing for our 501c3 status with the IRS. We are moving right along!!
In tomorrow's mail will be our application to the Secretary of State to incorporate. Along with the application is the document, Articles of Incorporation, which is also required. They say turnaround on this is rather quick, ie 5-8 days. So, we should be receiving our Incorporation certificate sooner rather than later!
And with that submission, we also have to submit a legal notice to our local newspaper (in this case, the Dallas paper near me) indicating our desire to incorporate. That runs for 2 weeks at a $40 cost.
Once the incorporation is complete, we then will need to register ourselves as a non-profit business in the State of Georgia. Whew!! The hoops we have to jump through - but it'll all be worth it in the end.
Whoo hoo! Today I received notification from the Secretary of State's office that we are officially incorporated with the State of Georgia as a domestic non-profit! Thank goodness, this is now complete. Now on to registering us with the State and then to complete the 501c3 application. We are on our way!!
