Raider Redbud "Oly"
b. 10/19/2006 d. 12/1/2010
Raider Redbud was one of the first hounds to go into the Second Chance Greyhounds prison program and I had the pleasure of driving him and his brother, Dex Alder Cane down to Florida. Once settled into his “temporary home” he received a new name, Olympus. Unfortunately, Oly did not graduate from the program; he broke a bone in his hind leg while playing on the puppy field so he was “released” to go into a “halfway” house. The “halfway” house turned into his forever home. My husband and I were lucky to be owned by Oly for 1 short year.
Oly arrived to our house in August of 2009; he was on crate rest and had to be leashed walked until December 2009. He learned to play games lying down and developed the sweetest and loving personality. We took him to a few M&G’s during this time, if he got tired he would just lay there and let the children and adults come to him! He loved going places and seeing new people. He truly loved life.
In May 2010 Oly had his 1st seizure. We had a series of tests performed and all came back normal, he was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy. Oly was placed on medication however we never were able to control his seizures. On December 1, 2010 at 8:25am I released my sweet boy to the rainbow bridge, as to date this was the most painful experience in my life.
We will forever remember and love our sweet and goofy boy. He brought some much love and laughter into our lives, even if was for such a short time.
We love you sweet boy, run free………
