Millie's Adopted!

Millie's new family came to the Marietta Farmer's Market Meet & Greet this past Saturday to meet her. Of course, her sweet personality won them over and she was soon on her way to her new forever home.

I've heard from Cristell, her new human Mom, that yesterday she entertained Lane (the daughter) and a few of her neighborhood friends.  Millie just loves children!  We are certain this is a perfect match.

The Whitfields will enjoy Millie so much and I know she'll have a great time, too!

Peachtree Roadrace July 4th

We got up early and watched the Peachtree in our patriotic attire.  Millie did great with all the noise and people.  About two hours into it she went over to the picnic blanket in the shade and lay down with the kids.  I had the same thought myself Millie.  The kids and babies were drawn to her like a magnet of course, and she was pleased as ever to let them pet on her while she lay there.  All-in-all, a pretty good start to the 4th of July.  Now on to the Bar-B-Que!!

Sprinklers

Yesterday we turned the sprinklers on and had the neighbors join us for some heat relief.  Millie found the water hose to be new and a little unnerving at first.  Wasn't too sure if the squeals from kids were happy or not, but we brought the hose over to her slowly and splashed it on her feet since that's a good way to cool down greyhounds.  After the kids were done, we went out and she sniffed all over the hose until she felt comfortable with it.  It's so sweet how she likes to walk closely beside you, touching you when she's nervous.

She has decided she loves my neighbor.  All my other dogs bark at him, but Millie can see that he loves dogs and just because he's a retired military officer, he's really not that scary.  Every time we go out to peep and poop, she heads straight for his front door and stands there for a minute looking up at me as if to say, "Ring the doorbell!"  I think she's taken his wife under her wing too.  She's bedridden and Millie was able to visit her on her way in from a doctor's appt, so now she wants to visit again.  Millie has a very discerning soul.

Birding

This morning as we went out for our morning walk, Millie heard a Brown Thrasher moving around in my neighbors holly bush.  Her ears went up in that cute little curious expression and she followed that bird all over the yard chasing a worm.  She didn't bark or snap at him, just sniffed and watched.  Who knew she was a birder like me?

In deference to her forever owners I shooed Millie off my bed at the beginning of the night and she stayed on her pillow at the foot of my bed all night like a good girl.
